Up, Up & Away

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, March 30, 2006

So, I spent some time playing with Google Earth the other day and man, what a blast.

Typed in the address of the house we grew up in and there it was zooming in at me..trees looking a bit bigger..there is the pool in the backyard...a very cool application. Free download for the software and then travel the world, from your backyard to the Great Wall of China to the Amazon River.

So, Major League Baseball has decided to investigate into Steroid usage. Yes, the lead character in this investigation is Barry Bonds, but there is no way they can just focus on him. The other players mentioned in the book Game Of Shadows will all have to be investigated. As a NY Yankee fan, to me that means Gary Sheffield and Jason Giambi. Now, according to reports, Giambi admitted to the Grand Jury that he did use steroids. He also held the "I apologize for what i did, but we will not talk about what I did" news conference after the hearings.

Giambi then went out and won the Comeback Player of the Year Award in 2005. He actually won both CBPOFY awards, as MLB is now sponsoring their own award in conjunction with a male enhancement drug. The original award is sponsored by The Sporting News. Interesting side note, last year both groups gave the award to the same two players; Giambi and Ken Griffey, Jr. for the National league.

Bottom line, I hate the thought of any player climbing into the record books carrying a syringe and for that reason, I would call upon Mr. Bonds to step aside and leave the game now. Leaving the game now gives the Hall of Fame voters an out to vote for you when you become eligible. If you stay around and pass Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron, you will find it will take a long time before you receive the required votes.

So, Lisa Tucker was sent packing last evening on American Idol as I predicted. An incredible singer, but I am not sure she has the personality to be a huge star. She seems better suited to Broadway to me.

BUT...what happened with the Katharine McPhee fans???? Kat in the bottom 3? That was a huge shocker. Bucky Covington received more votes then Kat? Picture me shaking my head.

Country is the theme next week, so it would appear Bucky gets another week to stay around. I see this as a difficult week for Elliott Yamin, Chris Daughtry and Mandisa. We shall see....Tuesday is around the corner.

Has Barry Bonds retired yet? No? Too bad.

Keep that spark of insanity kids...it helps keep you an individual.
