TIME TO DONATE SOME RICE TODAY!
<-----------------------------------------------

Go check out the updated count of grains donated over at Anndi's.

Well tonight got away from us. We met our new friend for a couple of drinks and when we got home we looked around and saw how much we had let the apartment get away from us. Now all y'all can probably suspect that when we get into something we just fall into it full force...

This caused us to miss the show over at THE MO SHOW and then the chat set up by THE QUEEN OF THE MEMES, Ms. Mimi...

And finally, it was real freakin' late and we sat down to start posting something...

GUESS WHAT????? We have no idea what we are going to write about now... LOL

The TV is on and we just hit the TiVo button to start one of our favorite shows, CRIMINAL MINDS...gee, you mean you could not guess that we absolutely love a show that is all about serial killers?

AND YOU KNOW WHAT????? We missed "How The Grinch Stole Christmas"!!!!! How could we let that happen???? Totally missed the little green dude trying to steal the holiday from the Whos...the fiend!

Of course, it is based on the book by Dr. Seuss and it originally aired in 1966! (Dang, we did not even realize it was that old!)...starring Boris Karloff as the voice of The Grinch...and directed by the incomparable Chuck Jones.
You totally know Chuck Jones...He directed many of the classic short animated cartoons starring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, the Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote, Pepé Le Pew and the other Warners characters, including the memorable What's Opera, Doc? (1957), Duck Amuck (1952) (both later inducted into the National Film Registry) and Jones' famous "Hunting Trilogy" of Rabbit Fire, Rabbit Seasoning, and Duck! Rabbit! Duck!, establishing himself as an important innovator and storyteller.

So, what is your favorite Christmas TV show? Besides The Grinch, there is one other movie that we can not do without is Jean Shepherd's "A Christmas Story"...It follows the trials and tribulations of Ralphie Parker as he tries to convince his parents to by him "an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle, with a compass in the stock and 'this thing' which tells time"

His mom absolutely refuses this request because...and we all heard this or something similar to it from our parent's growing up that he would
"shoot his eye out".

When Ralphie does get the rifle on Christmas morning he is so excited he throws on his rubber boots and coat over his pajamas and runs out the back door, slips on the ice, the rifle goes off, a BB flies out, ricochets and hits his glasses shattering them....HORRORS, he almost shot his eye out!

There are many sub-plots throughout including the infamous scene where one of Ralphie's friends, Schwartz 'double-dog-dares' another friend Flick to put his tongue on the frozen pole in the school-yard. As anyone (especially our friends from the Great White North) knows, this is something you should not do and Flick's tongue sticks solid...an amazingly funny scene...

Ya gotta watch it if you never have....

pssssssssssssssssst....c'mere...we have a secret to share...

TODAY is a birthday
we wonder for WHO?
We know it's for somebody
But do you know WHO?
She's laughing
she's smiling
my goodness it's YOU

Happy Birthday MIMI
From all of us to YOU
Happy Birthday MIMI
From all in the dungeon too

and may all of your dreams come TRUE

Happy Birthday MIMI
the bloggosphere
LOVES YOU!

Yuppers...head on OVER HERE and tell
QUEEN MIMI
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

This one is an all time favorite of ours and is also a big fav of our good friend Hoochie Mama Busy (Rocker Hoochie)...

From their 1968 album of the same title, this was the biggest hit for IRON BUTTERFLY...one of the first full-album side songs. One of the most memorable parts of the song is the guitar riff, which is also one of the most recognizable guitar riffs in rock music. It also contains an incredible drum solo and is recognized as the song that brought progressive rock into the 'heavy metal' age..."In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"

Doug Ingle: Organ, keyboards, clavinet, piano, vocals.
Erik Brann: Guitars, violin, vocals.
Lee Dorman: Bass guitar.
Ron Bushy: Drums, percussion

Off to watch some serial killer stuff....hehehehehehehehehe

24 Of Your Sparks

  1. Did you know that "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" was actually on a few weeks ago - BEFORE THANKSGIVING?! Sheesh! I recorded it on the DVR for the kids. They couldn't get over the fact that the show is almost as old as I am (geez - I'm not that old!).

Oh, and I've never, ever seen "A Christmas Story." I think I am the only one.

Me? I love Bill Murray in "Scrooged." For me, that's a classic.

Oh, and I love the one with Patrick Stewart, too. Love, love, love that man...

  20. I missed Cindy Lou Who, who is only just two?!!?!?

    That sucks =(

The Grinch is tied for favorite Christmas TV show with The Year Without A Santa Clause. Heat Miser kills me. And it's not nice to fool with Mother Nature!

As for Christmas movies, we were just talking about it. And I say hands down it is "It's A Wonderful Life." I also love Holiday Inn which has the better version of Bing doing White Christmas in my opinion. Oh and the super old version of Christmas Carol.

The new crap they crank out for the holidays just sucks.
