At some point this last month I began thinking about what I wanted to do with The Couch in 2010. Did I want to change the overall look once again? That would mean changing URLs so the formatting of older posts would not - once again - be affected.
Did I want to break the music posts away from the main blog, as I have done with my food posts?
Did I want to change the overall theme of The Couch to just music? Would I begin writing fiction again and making that the focus?
In the end - at least for now - I have decided to keep everything the way it is. I have also decide to stop wondering why certain people no longer visit..why some people only come by after I have stopped at their blog and why some people only seem to stop by once a week.
Anyone who blogs goes through these periods...it is, by nature, part of the blogging process.
What does 2010 hold then...well I want to increase readership over at Mangia Y'all because, quite frankly there is a revenue stream associated with that blog.
By being a part of The Food Buzz Network, I do earn pennies for each visitor.
So, if you want to help out a friend, PLEASE GO OVER AND VISIT ME ONCE A DAY and get my hits up...I will report if there is a difference after Q1 is complete.
I am going to launch a Blogtalk Radio program within the next 6 weeks. It will be entitled "Music On The Couch" and it will be a 1/2 hour each Monday evening at 9:00pm Central (time is still not solidified), featuring one music artist per show. They will be live with me on the air and we will feature their music and learn about them as a person and an artist.
I will continue to be a part of The Dr. Blogstein Radio Happy Hour each Tuesday evening at 9:00pm Eastern time, as I thoroughly enjoy the show and the excitement we present each week.
I am in the middle of a project for Mom Joan and Dad Vince, where I am scanning all of their slides in preparation of creating a DVD for them to have as a memory of their life.
The continuing saga of digitizing my music continues. As I sit here writing, music is being transferred over and my iTunes library continues to grow (currently at over 7,000 songs - with the final total be be at least 10 times that much).
Once I am done with the DVD for mom and dad, I have the wedding DVD to produce. I have a few hundred pictures from the wedding and honeymoon and three individual videos of our first dance to edit.
I also began transferring the VHS tapes I have of Matt's life last year and I need to complete that task to ensure my son has his life to share with his future off-spring.
All are intense projects and I know they will not all be completed this calendar year, but I want to spend time trying to get as much done as possible.
Nancy and I are talking about a trip up north this coming summer so I can show her my life before I moved here. I want to show her my New York, the beaches of Long Island that I miss so much and to allow her to meet the friends and relatives who were not able to make it down for our wedding.
We also have the Blogfest in Atlanta in July this summer.
Will we be able to do both? Time and finances will tell that story...
Do you have plans for your blog for 2010? What about your personal life? These are not Resolutions...because that is a BS concept in my mind...
When you really want to change something in your life, you do not wait for a certain date to make it happen...you just do it...
Having goals is important. Striving to achieve those goals is what keeps us all focused on the future.

I hope to be able to go to Atlanta. But like most things in the past year or so...long term planning is just not possible.
Right now I hope to make a train trip to Indiana before march....
Sounds like all great projects. I hope to catch a few of those MOnday radio shows, but these days planning anything is like spitting in the wind, you just never know what direction it will go.
Hope all your plans fall into place for a great new year.
Good luck on the new radio venture. I will try to tune in when it's up and running.
Lord, I have so many photos to organize that I don't even know where to begin. Maybe that's why I haven't started.
Once again Happy New Year.
Oh yeah, I've contemplated moving from Blogger to WordPress, but I have No idea how much trouble that would be and I'm not sure I want to find out.
Good luck with everything Vin. One thing...I had trouble reading the red text on your BTR picture. People with aging eyes like mine may also. Just sayin'. Cheers!!
I think blogs evolve right along with the authors who invest in them, and to a certain extent with the readership. You know you can't get rid of me...even when I'm on hiatus I still sneak in and take a set on The Couch for a few minutes daily.
As to my blog, the continued quiet time is helping me understand what I want to do going forward.
Good luck with the new radio show. I'm looking forward to it.
KATHERINE: I understand the problems with long-term planning indeed...glad to see you back
SHUTTERBUG: You have something very important happening soon...so if you can make it - that is great
DRILLERAA: I am not a fan of WordPress..I investigated it but didn't like some of the functions
MATT-MAN: One word dude...glasses
TRAVIS: I totally agree...The Couch has totally evolved from that mostly AI blog I began writing
You Sir have a permanent pass and reserved seat here and that will NEVER change.
I understand needing the break and rethinking where you are heading
...no one can say you don't have a full life! I don't know who's busier, you or Mic...
I saw the BTR page when Blogstein linked to it on Twitter. I was excited and wondering when you'd get that thing cranked up. That's gonna be pretty awesome.
I spent a lot of time thinking about what I might want to do with my blog. I'm still thinking about it. At first I thought about any changes happening on Jan 1. You know, new year, new decade, new blog. But, I just can't decide. So, everything stays the same for now.
Wow, that's a lot of plans. If someone asked me what I was going to do this year, I'd answer the same way I always do: "Uhhhh, I dunno." This is probably why I've never become a great conqueror or something.
Hello - I am glad you're keeping it the same. I enjoy the music posts as well as hearing what you're up to - variety is nice.
My plans for 2010 - I will keep building up my self-employedness and the blog will stay where it is for whenever I want to use it. Not gonna worry about it.
I'll be here reading no matter the format.
I'm still in the process of moving my vinyl onto the computer and into the Ipod. It's a slow process, but I'll be glad once it's done. Not that I want to lose the actual vinyl albums, but at least knowing if something like Katrina actuall destroys everything I still will have the music, as it's a lot easier to leave with a small Ipod or even a computer than it is with thousands of albums.
I've never quite figured out internet radio yet, but I'll have to try so I can listen to your music show.
OK, you got me to stop reading your blog as soon as I found out I can give you pennies........here i go....Mangia!
Blog reading always seems to go in waves. With me, it's commenting; but I'm always reading. Heck, I didn't even post photos for over 2 months on my own blog. Sometimes life just gets in the way.
Good luck with your many projects - busy man!
While I admit that sometimes the music posts go over my head, I think that it would be weird if you of all people stopped talking about it here. So I'm glad you are keeping things the same. You can't make everyone happy all of the time, so might as well keep yourself happy!!
I'm glad you're starting a blog talk radio show. I'm excited to tune in!!
I'm excited by the prospect of your BTR show. I'm woefully ignorant of new music (I tend to listen to 2nd generation classic rock exclusively), so maybe now I'll grow a bit and not feel so stupid when you and Starr talk new music!
Ironically enough, Atlanta seems more likely for me now than it did a few months ago. Then again, it's still early in the year, so who knows? I'm working on it, just as I did last year with the planned trip to Memphis. Let's just hope this one has a better outcome for me. *smile*
PHFRANKIE: It is Mic
JAY: Since I don't tweet I did not know he had done that
BECKEYE: A lot of plans..now let's see if I can get through them
TOPCHAMP: building revenue is a good thing
JOHN: Hope you figure out the radio..not real hard as I am thinking of using you once in a while! SURPRISE
MICKEYT: You are one funny dude indeed
TUG: I keep waiting for new pics, but the other prob is I can not see your blog at work
MAGS: Hope to see you there
SONGBIRD: Well hope I can make you a tad more knowledgeable - though Starr even puts me to shame
OK, I'm not a regular reader but I also admit that some of your music posts go over my head, I'm pretty old-fashioned with my musical tastes.
I have goals and project ideas, but I agree with you about making resolutions. I didn't make any. Sounds like you are going to be busy!
I'll stop by Mangia to help boost your hits. ;-)
PATTI: Thanks for stopping by when you can...
It's good to re-think (as Travis is doing) and re-structure as we evolve. Your life has changed so much in the last couple of years!
I hope that the couch will always "bee" here no matter what other endeavors you pursue.
I will be at a conference the day you launch your Radio Show and am looking forward to that. Two good things happening that day! I will be there.
Atlanta. Can't wait.
Count me in as one of those who hasn't been leaving comments as often as I should. Sorry Vinny!
I hadn't thought my blog would change this year, but I'm finding that with less drama finding things to write about is a little more challenging. This is a good thing - at least I keep telling myself that!
MIMI: The Couch is not going anywhere - Promise
DANA: It is a good thing that you struggle due to less drama!
