Wordy Wednesday

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, September 28, 2011 7 Of Your Sparks

So, if the day I did the "Where's Vinbo" post had not begun the mystery of the web page, I might use that theme again...but

NAH!

So, where they heck-a-doodle have I been?

Friday got home from work and had promised Webb Dalton, who appeared on the show two weeks prior I would come out and see him play. That afternoon, I heard from Victor Wainwright who asked if I was available to come out and listen to Nick Black, who has been Victor's guitar player on the road. Nick was with his own band and they play more of a Stax/neo-R&B sound.

Nancy agreed to join me so out we went. Nick was fantastic and is booked for the show on November 7th already. Then we went and saw Webb and had a good time there.

Saturday - well, you see , for 10 years Nancy owned her own company. She still had ALL the employee and business records in 6 LARGE boxes. So, seeing as we live in the county, we decided to burn it all due to the bank numbers and employee confidential information.

Five hours of burning on Saturday got me 1/2 way through.

Saturday night - well, you see a few weeks back I made a promise to Nancy that the next time we went out it would be to the movies. She called me on this on Friday so I told her to pick a movie - even a chick-flick if she wanted.

She chose The Help, so that was Saturday night. the movie was very good indeed. A tough story to tell, but it was done very well with great acting.

Sunday was more burning and filling in the hole from the second repair to the water pipe and watching some football games.

Monday, I got home and had my cell phone in my hand and as I reached for my mug of juice the phone slid out and landed perfectly in the mug! I immediately removed it stripped out the battery and dried it off.

YES! I now know I should have put it in rice - anyway I did not and yesterday it was still not working. My upgrade is not for another 8 months, so a new phone is way too expensive.

The phone was put into rice in the morning and hopefully this morning it will be working...if not, I need to find a reconditioned one to keep me connected...

The show Monday was fantastic...check it out if you have not already...think you will enjoy.

So..now, sorry you asked?!?!!?

Oh, right, you didn't ask!

Oh well...

2010...The planning has begun...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, January 05, 2010 22 Of Your Sparks

At some point this last month I began thinking about what I wanted to do with The Couch in 2010. Did I want to change the overall look once again? That would mean changing URLs so the formatting of older posts would not - once again - be affected.

Did I want to break the music posts away from the main blog, as I have done with my food posts?

Did I want to change the overall theme of The Couch to just music? Would I begin writing fiction again and making that the focus?

In the end - at least for now - I have decided to keep everything the way it is. I have also decide to stop wondering why certain people no longer visit..why some people only come by after I have stopped at their blog and why some people only seem to stop by once a week.

Anyone who blogs goes through these periods...it is, by nature, part of the blogging process.

What does 2010 hold then...well I want to increase readership over at Mangia Y'all because, quite frankly there is a revenue stream associated with that blog.

By being a part of The Food Buzz Network, I do earn pennies for each visitor.

So, if you want to help out a friend, PLEASE GO OVER AND VISIT ME ONCE A DAY and get my hits up...I will report if there is a difference after Q1 is complete.

I am going to launch a Blogtalk Radio program within the next 6 weeks. It will be entitled "Music On The Couch" and it will be a 1/2 hour each Monday evening at 9:00pm Central (time is still not solidified), featuring one music artist per show. They will be live with me on the air and we will feature their music and learn about them as a person and an artist.

Basically, taking the "New Music Monday" theme from here on The Couch and moving to a broadcast medium. I hope y'all find time to listen, either live or in archives or from iTunes (where the shows will be made available)...and I can get back to doing radio once again.

I will continue to be a part of The Dr. Blogstein Radio Happy Hour each Tuesday evening at 9:00pm Eastern time, as I thoroughly enjoy the show and the excitement we present each week.

I am in the middle of a project for Mom Joan and Dad Vince, where I am scanning all of their slides in preparation of creating a DVD for them to have as a memory of their life.

The continuing saga of digitizing my music continues. As I sit here writing, music is being transferred over and my iTunes library continues to grow (currently at over 7,000 songs - with the final total be be at least 10 times that much).

Once I am done with the DVD for mom and dad, I have the wedding DVD to produce. I have a few hundred pictures from the wedding and honeymoon and three individual videos of our first dance to edit.

I also began transferring the VHS tapes I have of Matt's life last year and I need to complete that task to ensure my son has his life to share with his future off-spring.

All are intense projects and I know they will not all be completed this calendar year, but I want to spend time trying to get as much done as possible.

Nancy and I are talking about a trip up north this coming summer so I can show her my life before I moved here. I want to show her my New York, the beaches of Long Island that I miss so much and to allow her to meet the friends and relatives who were not able to make it down for our wedding.

We also have the Blogfest in Atlanta in July this summer.

Will we be able to do both? Time and finances will tell that story...

Do you have plans for your blog for 2010? What about your personal life? These are not Resolutions...because that is a BS concept in my mind...

When you really want to change something in your life, you do not wait for a certain date to make it happen...you just do it...

Having goals is important. Striving to achieve those goals is what keeps us all focused on the future.

Totally NOT Naked....

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, March 27, 2008 27 Of Your Sparks

So, because it might not have been clear - not too much has been the last two days, the migraine was on Tuesday. It happened as we woke, and we fell back to sleep. Went to work at about 11 but then left around 2.

Came home and laid back down and fell asleep. Woke around 7pm and turned on that singing show...about 5 minutes later the TV went off and we just laid there in the semi-darkness. We were planning on trying to get on the air with the Radio Happy Hour and the next thing we knew, the phone was ringing and it was darlin' Nancy telling me Doc was all comfuzzled on where we were ...

We asked her to either call him or put something in the chat room and two seconds later we were asleep again. The night was full of fits and starts and drenching of the sheets in NOT a good way...we were sweating like a 600 pound man running a marathon in Hawaii in July wearing a purple velour jumpsuit. Or maybe like Matt-Man three weeks into his no-meat Lenten fast as he drives by a burger joint...but you get the idea.

Wednesday was not so bad but the damn thing hung around like an underfed kitten after having been given a treat by a 6 year old girl. Or like Matt-Man when any woman looks at him with anything but disdain.

OK...OK..sorry Matty me boy...not sure why you are invading this space so much today...maybe it is to try and steal some of the huge traffic you have built up...maybe it is just because we feel so much man-love for you...

Our wonderful friend Tug hit on the fact that there has been some pressure in our life the last few weeks and that very well could be causing this illness we have been fighting...

Without details, as it really is none of your f**king business really is difficult to put out there - we are dealing with a mortgage company who reneged on an agreement when we sold our house up north last year and we finalized the end of our marriage yesterday.

The former, we will deal with in one of 4 ways...the later, well...we are thrilled and saddened at the same time. Sure it is sad...this thing we entered into thinking it would last a lifetime did not. Are we happy with our life right now...? We could not be happier...but it is still a tough thing to do...to admit to the failure of part of our life.

We want the best for her in her life...we want Matt to continue his incredible life. It has been difficult on him, as an only child, to see it all happen and not being there face-to-face to tell him it is finally over was tough.

So, we need to now get our health back together...KB asked about vitamins. We do not take them, but are planning on buying some tomorrow. We have not been exercising the last couple of months and put back on much of the weight we lost last year. We need to step it up a notch and start again.

We need to start eating better again, as we have been taking some short-cuts with that, eating too many prepared foods during the week.

This seems to have become a physical intervention today (given for me by me - "help meeee to help youuuuu") and we really do not want to seem like life is hell...overall, we could not be happier. We have an incredible group of friends in real life and here...we have the most marvelous woman in our life right now. Without her caring, we might be in even rougher shape. Our family is incredibly supportive and loving and we cherish each and every one of them...

OH! WONDERFUL NEWS...LOL...our niece Candice has left the dark side and come into the light, having bought herself a brand-spanking new MAC-Pro laptop! We spoke to her the other day and told her it was the second best decision she had made...right behind becoming a NY Yankee fan! She laughed her beautiful laugh and that made us smile.

We spoke to her brother Joseph and asked when he was going to get as smart as his twin...he is already a NY Yankee fan, but coming into the light would help. He just replied "I am thinking about it". He might be saved yet. They both head off to college next September. Wait while I feel old for a second here...OUCH!

Sorry, our visits to your blogs have been sporadic the last two days...we will get caught up...promise...and maybe next week we will do the naked thing...OOOOOOO something to look forward to...or to ensure you skip us totally!

HEY...head over to the incomparable Schmoop's and wish her a Happy Happy Birthday!

Having lost a whole day and after the lousy sleep last night, we are behind on chores - especially laundry - so we will close out today with a song of renewal and hope and brightness and fun...

"Good Vibrations"
THE BEACH BOYS

Brian Wilson & Mike Love

Released as a single on October 10, 1966 (backed with the instrumental "Let's Go Away For Awhile"), it was the band's third U.S. number-one hit, after "I Get Around" and "Help Me, Rhonda", reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in December 1966, as well as being their first British chart-topper.
