Was interesting to read how all y'all use the social networks - or don't use them...
I can not imagine how this would have changed me as a person if all this was available when I was a young teen.

Had a long day and I was going to do an iTunes Shuffle today, but the first song that came up when I hit play is almost 12 minutes long...so it is an iTunes - 1song shuffle for today.

What amazes me are the number of friends who have kids using them and know that the kids are using them but those parents never go on them. I've seen LOTS of things I'm sure parents wouldn't be happy about.
I cannot begin to imagine how our lives would have been different as teens with today's technology. Would we have missed out on the local drive-ins where fries and a coke were under a dollar because there would be no need to socialize that way. I mean, if you can text anyone, anytime, anywhere, why bother hangin' out with them in person. Nope, I liked my teen years pretty much the way they were, but I do like the technology available to me today.

I could not have guesses about the internet and what it now is. I did say in 1997 during a WTIT recording session that I could see some day in the distant future that we would be recording on a computer and music would be "computerized". I did not know that in three years it would be a reality. Our last recording on tape was January 2000...
being raised under the IBM umbrella we were seeing things ten to twenty years before they hit the consumer market.
The technology they have now...which is not available to the marketplace yet...makes all this look like caveman drawings.
My kids think its all no big deal. This is how they were raised...with computers and email. They don't know anything else...the youngest never used a fax machine.
The downside...in our lifetime...privacy will be a commodity. You will pay for it like you pay for water and gold.
Yeah ... being the parent of a teen with all of this technology in place is somewhat of a challenge.
That would be why I check my son's MySpace page frequently and have parental control software installed on the desktop system.

As the mom of a six-year old who can already navigate online, I'm scared to death of what it's going to be like in 5 years! The computer is parked where I can see the screen from the kitchen, dining room, living room and hallway. Hopefully he'll be resigned to the idea that there is no privacy when online ...
What I wonder about sometimes is how cool it would have been if we had digital cameras while growing up. My daughters can visit a friend's house and come home with a hundred pictures. I have so few pictures of us in high school...I wish I had more.
I haven't been able to understand Twitter yet. Why do I want to know what someone is doing all day long? They twitter about stuff I really don't care about.

Amen Turnbaby. I am on them primarily to keep an eye on Kidlet. And I am damn glad I we didn't have them when I was younger. I grew up with manners and the ability to create complete sentences.
I would imagine that I would have had way more music. And perhaps I would have written more.
But I don't know that I would trade my active youth for the world of video games and computers. Playing football, riding bikes, and just being outside with the gang was way too much fun.
to me it's about the music...great track bond...

I often think about what it would have been like if we had had all this technology back in the '70s.
I keep reminding our children that we had rotary-dial phones and manual typewriters. Strike those keys!!
