Five On Friday - Derek Trucks

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, December 10, 2010 7 Of Your Sparks

Check out the other participants by clicking on his link above...and join in!

You can register for free at playlist.com and type in a band name and BAM the song will be there to assist in building your playlist.

Travis lays out some guidelines for this meme and they go like this:

1. Grab the banner, make your post title Five on Friday, and be sure to link back here.

2. Go to Playlist.com to make your play list of five songs. Choose a particular theme to share with us. You can simply post the play list, or you can add a little summary about what you are sharing.

3. I don't know how to make a specific linky, so be sure to leave me a comment to let me know that you participated.

4. No tags, but feel free to invite your friends to play along if they need a post topic on a Friday.

Today I am posting a video and then some audio files. This was posted by a friend on Facebook yesterday and I just had to share.

The young lad's name is Derek Trucks. This is from 1993 when he was 13 years old.

He is the nephew of Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks. He was considered a guitar prodigy at NINE years old. He leads his own band; The Derek Trucks Band, plays with his wife Susan Tedeschi and he is also one of the two guitarists for The Allman Brothers Band.

This is some brilliant stuff from the kid, from 1993 when he was opening for the Allman Brothers Band.

Yes, that is a Duane Allman t-shirt Derek is wearing...hell, the kid is practically channeling Duane...

ENJOY!

Now four audio files:
1: with Susan with their rendition of the song "Hey Jude"
2: Derek Trucks Band "Every Good Boy"
3: Allman Brothers Band "Soulshine"
4: with Susan on the Robert Johnson classic "Walking Blues"

Dancing...Two Years Later...A Ruby Reminder

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, November 10, 2009 23 Of Your Sparks

There was DANCING last night and today TRAVIS of "Trav's Thoughts" gives you the low-down...remember to check him out and find out what went down on the dance floor...We are getting close to awarding that big ole Mirror Ball...It is exciting!

Two years ago on November 12th, the following was part of my post. The 12th was a Monday. That previous Saturday was the 10th...today is two years since that day -

Well...guess what kiddies?!?!?!?!

We finally got to go to the ZOO!

Yup Yup Yup...We went Saturday and had the most incredible time.

HEY Travis! We got to dance for the monkeys and they didn't fling anything!

It is a nice zoo...the animals are displayed in their environment and it is very clean. A good collection of animals...We especially LOVED the snake house...

Lots of laughs and smiles...

we need to develop the roll of film we shot...might have gotten some good shots...

Then Sunday a wonderful relaxing day...did a little buffet with some hot wings, slices of Parmesan Riggiano and Monterey jack, slices of salami, bruschette, pepperoni, sesame bread sticks, anchovy filets and ice cold beer.

More laughs...more smiles...and they feel good...

Overall, like the best weekend we have had in a way long time and so long overdue...

Well... no music...just smiles and laughs and bright blue skies...and the video...From 1991, a concert in Germany...Warren Hayes ripping up on the slide guitar and Dicky just letting that guitar burn...

'lord you know it makes me high when you turn your love my way....'

You see...it just felt so right even on the first official date.

The snake house is where we had our first kiss...

On Sunday morning, I called her and invited her to watch a little football and have a real Italian Antipasto, and she accepted.

The day became even more interesting when she let me know how much she loved anchovies, so put them all out...a gal that looks like she does, talks to me with that oh so sexy Mississippi drawl, loves sports...heck I figured she could be a keeper.

And now we are married 2 months and 5 days.... Who woulda really thunk it???

I am one lucky guy!

All you need to do is click on the graphic to get to
the rest of the RUBY TUESDAY posts...

OK, from that first day...

Wednesday Music...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, May 20, 2009 17 Of Your Sparks

Who joined this impressive group
and won the 18" Mirror Ball???

Which pro will be teaching a star next season?

The finale was last evening
and your best bet is to let
TRAVIS of "Trav's Thoughts",
Give you the full DANCING WITH THE STARS wrap-up...

I am jammed up. There are two different things going on in my life and they are monopolizing my brain cells.

I need to push them out, but unfortunately, I can not do so here…in public…

So, I struggle with trying to come up with funny (no that is MATT-MAN of "Bagwine Ruminations"), insightful (no that is DIANNE of “Forks Off The Moment”), enjoyable (no that is BUD over at “WTIT Radio Blog"), posts...ah hell, I am just trying to keep y’all from abandoning me.

SO, I will put up some music...get ready to do the Radio Happy Hour and hope that the little synapses in my brain can start to become semi-creative once more.

I closed my eyes and started scrolling up and down in my iTunes window. I stopped and clicked my mouse and these are the sounds that came out of the speakers...

Was Melissa's ready to Samba?
Did Shawn vault over the competition???
Find out from TRAVIS of "Trav's Thoughts",
He'll have the full DANCING WITH THE STARS rundown...

OK, so my trip and the fact that Nancy had to travel down to the coast yesterday has caused a flurry of activity today and I decided to jsut throw some tuneage at y'll...

I am hopeful to have some time to do posts on Thursday and Friday. With this weekend baseball tournament, I am not sure about Monday's New Music...but I am trying...

HECK-A-DOODLE...come on folks, let up on me...why are you hassling me like that..

What?

OH, that was the voices in my brain..not you.

Nevermind!

Here is a 4-tune shuffle...enjoy...

Tune On A Thursday...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, April 23, 2009 17 Of Your Sparks

Was interesting to read how all y'all use the social networks - or don't use them...
I can not imagine how this would have changed me as a person if all this was available when I was a young teen.
What about you? can you even imagine the technology today at your fingertips 20 - 30 - 40 years ago?

Had a long day and I was going to do an iTunes Shuffle today, but the first song that came up when I hit play is almost 12 minutes long...so it is an iTunes - 1song shuffle for today.

Grateful Dead - Allman Brothers...."That's All Right Mama"

Wednesday Words....

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, January 14, 2009 32 Of Your Sparks

You may remember that a few months ago, Nancy lost her cat Sam to a kidney disease.

Well, last week she called and asked if I would mind if she got the boys a new kitty. I thought this was so sweet that she asked me even before she spoke to the boys. As she said "You will be living here soon, and I want you to be comfortable".

Of course I told her it was OK. A good friend had found a stray kitty and he needed a home. Though he looks solid black, he actually has tiger stripes that are deep black and then a less black body. He is pretty cute and the boys decided that his name would be...READY FOR THIS TRAVIS?...Tucker!

Not Mr. Tucker, the loving cat of Pam and Travis, but just Tucker.

Well, Tucker came over this weekend with Nancy and he felt pretty comfortable here at the apartment.

Check him out...(all pics enlarge with a clickity-click)

Nancy was being shy!

Sunday morning I decided to cook us a nice breakfast and put together one of my favs...a Frittata with breakfast potatoes, onions, red bell pepper and ham...YUM

Check it out...

8 eggs beaten well with some Frank's Hot Sauce added...

After browning the potatoes and sauteing the onions, bell pepper and ham
I remove them from the skillet and add half the eggs and let the set on the bottom...

Then add the rest of the eggs and put the whole thing in the oven
on 350 for about 8 - 10 minutes...

Take it out and let it sit a few minutes...

Then slice and enjoy...YUMMERS!

From one of my Christmas presents from Nancy, this is the CD of the concert she and I saw in Tunica, The Allman Brothers Band, this is called "SoulShine"

ENJOY...

Tuneage Tutelage - The Allman Brothers - Wrap Up

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, October 03, 2008 18 Of Your Sparks

Want to start off by sending some Birthday wishes out today. Our most excellent friend LeeLee is celebrating her 50th today. Stop by and wish her well. She is traveling and spending her birthday with family, which is real cool, but it will be even cooler if she has all sorts of birthday wishes when she checks in. She is a big music fan and I thought this cake was appropriate for her.

Second up, this weekend the funny, sarcastic Sparky Duck celebrates a birthday and even gets to see Bruce Springsteen to celebrate. Head over and give him a quack and wish his Oregon Ducks well as they take on USC on Saturday! What other kind of cake would you give a duck?

Finally, tell Anndi Happy Birthday as she celebrates today.

Let 'em know Bond sent ya!

Gee, I have received this wonderful honor yesterday from one of our newest friends, DIANNE. I really need to arrange my awards again (hell I need to bring out the new template, but I have not had the time to tweak it)...Thank you Dianne..she said some nice words also..."I pass the Arte‘y Pico on to BOND. One of my newest friends. He truly should be a music professor, a guru of the arts. He does his homework; he presents eclectic choices in music plus all the other things his “couch” offers up."
