Tuesday Tidbits

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, August 05, 2008

Hey...go over to Mary/The Teach's and check out the cool Ruby Tuesday entries for this week. I didn't get my entry together, so I will be a lurker, a voyeur myself this week...

One of my new blogging friends - well actually she was a friend before she began blogging...so she is someone who blogs, but is a friend...but I have a ton of friends who blog and that is how I know them,,,from their blogs...but this person I have met and met before she blogged...I blogged when we met...and well, I still do

RAMBLING!!!!!! YOU ARE RAMBLING!!!!

OK, sorry...anyway Charlene gave me this cool little trinket yesterday. She is a funny, sweet woman who is dealing with some difficult times right now as her parents are ill. If you have not given her a read, so so...but be prepared, she speaks her mind and doesn't censor her blog...

THANKS CHARLENE!

Some cool news for fans of Mr. Robert Allen Zimmerman who we know and love as Bob Dylan.

Tell Tale Signs – the 8th installment in the Bootleg Series - will be released by Columbia Records on Tuesday, October 7.
Tell Tale Signs is being released as a 2-disc CD package and will feature a booklet of rare photos, extensive liner notes by author Larry "Ratso" Sloman, and complete recording credits.

A limited-edition deluxe three-CD package of Tell Tale Signs will also be released, featuring all of the elements of the two-disc set, plus an exclusive bonus disc of 12 additional rare and unreleased recordings and a hardcover book of Bob Dylan singles artwork spanning his entire career. The three-CD package will be presented in a specially-designed hardcover slipcase.

You know what is cool? The fact that the record companies have begun to release music on vinyl again and not the vinyl of the 80's that would flop around in your hand it was so thin. This collection will also be released in a limited-edition 4-LP set, pressed on 180-gram vinyl, packaged in a 12" X 12" box, and including all of the elements of the two-CD set.

This installment features previously unreleased recordings and alternate versions of tracks from sessions which generated some of Bob Dylan’s most acclaimed and commercially successful albums from the last two decades, including Time Out Of Mind, Love And Theft, Modern Times and Oh Mercy.

If you are looking to get a sneak listen before it's release, for a limited time, the all new redesigned bobdylan.com will feature a free download of “Dreamin’ Of You,” one of Tell Tale Signs many previously unreleased gems.

“Dreamin’ Of You” is a fully-produced recording from Dylan’s 1997 sessions with producer Daniel Lanois, which spawned Time Out Of Mind, the 1998 Grammy Award-winning Album Of The Year.

One of my favorite pieces of Dylan poetry...

ENJOY....

I have noticed the players do not always appear.
But I also learned - if you refresh the page -
they do show up eventually...
Sorry for the inconvenience

The second paragraph makes sense. I think. I wonder where I fall into that rambling discourse?

  10. Dana Says:
  11. I get trolls, you get awards ... wanna trade??

  12. I'd kick Jeff Lewis in the ass repeatedly if I had to deal with him. He gives queens a bad name.

We both are channeling Bobby Zimmerman today!

And you are Beary Beary =)

  13. Tiggerlane Says:
  14. My hubby loves Dylan, and worse yet, likes to sing like him. Sigh. And isn't BRAVO the BEST?!?! LOVE their shows...and you're right, Jeff is a sadist!

  15. FRED: D3 is very wise...

MATT-MAN: I know you want to squeeze me....

    CHARLENE: Hopefully someone can help

    TURNBABY: DO IT GIRL!

    KATHERINE: Then come play tonight

  16. Mimi Lenox Says:

    Happy Ruby Tuesday!

  18. Tug Says:
  19. Much deserved award - congrats! I'll have to check out the Dylan...love me some Bob. ;-)

  20. TopChamp Says:
  21. I'd love to listen - esp as the show is sounding so impressive these days.

However 2am on a Tuesday is a bit late for me.

I love the track by the way in this post - and thanks for your comment. I was in a worse mood and you cheered me up!

  22. Ralph Says:
  23. You are so right about the more modern vinyl. Take any 33-1/3 LP or 10" 78 record from the '40s or '50s and those acetate discs weighed a ton (figuratively, of course).

i have plenty of vinyl here, and saw a USB turntable for $150. Thinking real hard...

  24. Anndi Says:
  25. I saw an exhibit at the RRHF about Dylan, he's not my favourite singer by any means but knew how to craft a message.

  26. Travis Cody Says:
  27. Hmmmm. How to say it? Well, I guess the best way is just to put it out there.

    I don't like Bob Dylan.

    Now that wasn't so bad.

  28. DrillerAA Says:
  29. Welcome back big guy!
I didn't get a Ruby Tuesday put together either. I don't know how it will survive without our input.
I will have a Wordless Wednesday up tomorrow morning though.
My blogging hasn't been as consistent as it used to be. I've had a bit of a dry spell I suppose.

  30. Lu' Says:
  31. I'm glad you noticed you were rambling earlier, I thought it was just me, HA!

  32. MIMI: Glad to help

TUG: Thanks and so do I

TOPCHAMP: I know the show is too late for you...check the archives

    RALPH: Do it...They are great.

    ANNDI: That he did

TRAVIS: It is OK...we still love you

DRILLERAA: We all go through slow times...no worries

LU': I always know when I am rambling...LOL
