DON'T MISS OUT ON THE BIG CELEBRATION!!!
How To Get Your Peace Globe November 2007

We are truly horrified by the fires burning out of control in Southern California. The fact that people have the urge to start these fires which will cause deaths, do millions, if not billions of dollars in damage and change the lives of so many is just so beyond our comprehension.

The scum that set these fires should be treated like mass-murderers and put to death. You can argue that the death penalty is cruel, but we totally disagree. These low-life degenerates who get a kick out of starting these fires have no reason to breathe the air we all breathe.

We have online friends who are in the affected areas and we are concerned for them. We are concerned for those we do not know whose lives are in turmoil. We are concerned for the incredibly brave men and women who are putting their lives on the line, fighting these raging infernos.

Over 500,000 people have had to flee their homes...

California has enough fires started by nature that cause tremendous damage. People who live there have to deal with this act of nature every year. Why do they also have to deal with sick, disgusting humans who feel the need to start fires?

There are at least 10 different fires burning at this time. The fires leaping and starting new ones due to the Santa Ana winds.

This was Sunday. (NASA image courtesy the MODIS Rapid Response Team, Goddard Space Flight Center) It shows the fires at 11:35 a.a. and then at 2:50 p.m. They just spread so quickly.

Pray for this to end soon....

In a dream it would seem
I went to those who close the open door
Turning the key, I sat and spoke to those inside of me

They answered my questions with questions
And pointed me into the night
Where the moon was a star-painted dancer
And the world was just a spectrum of light

They reached to my center of reason
And pulled on the touchstone that's there
The shock of that light had me reeling
And I fell into the depths of despair

They answered my questions with questions
And set me to stand on the brink
Where the sun and the moon were as brothers
And all that was left was to think

They answered my questions with questions
And pointed me into the night
The power that bore me had left me alone
To figure out which way was right

17 Of Your Sparks

  1. Travis Cody Says:
  2. I haven't read enough of the news to know which ones were arson. Some of the fires were naturally started and caught fast because it's so dry.

Then they swept on through and started joining up to make the big mess we're seeing now.

It's burning again in the areas that burned in 2003, Santa Clarita and Stevenson Ranch, near where I used to live. Scary shit.

  3. Hubby is safe for now. He left work this evening, and he said the air was thick with smoke; his car was covered in ash.

My heart aches for my beloved San Diego.

  4. katherine. Says:
  5. Having lived down there for years...and with half my daughter's family still there, we have been watching the fires with sadness.

I am one of those people who have serious reactions to the Santa Ana's. They would totally freak me out.

  6. Sparky Duck Says:
  7. well you had to be living in a cave to not know about the fires, though i did not know someone set them on purpose. Asshat!

  8. TRAVIS: Which was the point I tried to make in my rant...there will be natural fires, to compound that with the ones started by humans just takes so much more effort...very scary...

SONGBIRD: Glad he is safe for now...that is what counts

KATHERINE: We will send good thoughts to the family your daughter has down there and pray they stay safe...

  9. SPARKY: As Travis pointed out, some were natural, but from what I have heard, there are those that were set intentionally...

  10. Liz Hill Says:
  11. It's truly horrific--and not just human lives are being lost.

  12. That's just awful. Ugh.

  13. Yes some are being called arson. I have pretty much all of my grandfathers side of the family down there althought thankfully they recently moved further north and are out of harms way. I am with Desert though. I love San Diego. It is one of the few places in California I could live =(

  14. TURN: You are correct OH One who is One with animals...

    108: KYRA It is horrible

STARRLIGHT: We will keep them in our thoughts also dear friend... Never been to S.D. ... you and Songbird want to give me the guided tour?
    =]

  15. Bud Fisher Says:
  16. Manfred Mann's Earth Band! Do you remember their song "Living Without You"? Randy Newnman wrote it and I played it a lot on the radio in the early to mid 70's...

  17. Tug Says:
  18. Well said, as usual, my friend. Well said.

  19. katherine. Says:
  20. who says there is no death penalty in California

  21. Mimi Lenox Says:
  22. I heard about the arson tonight on the news. What kind of evil would do that? Prayers and thoughts are with the victims.

    As for the Questions poetry.
    Genius.

  23. C'mon down, Big Guy - I'll lead you around...Oh, wait...you meant lead you on a tour of San Diego, huh?

Yeah, I'll do that, too! Beautiful place, gorgeous beaches. Your kinda place, in fact.

  24. BUD: Decided to pull out a few 'rarer' oldies...I remember the song, but do not have it.

    TUG: Thank you very much...

KATHERINE: Very interesting story, will put the link up tomorrow.

MIMI: I have no clue why someone would do it, but I do understand it is an obsession.
    Glad you enjoyed.

SONGBIRD: Ba dum - always with the snark...why you are always welcome here...I bet I would love it..

  25. RW Says:
  26. Ya that is so bad I friends and family that are out there but thank god are not close to the fires I heard tonight that it could be arson but have not heard the facts on that yet. Time to start a rain dance!
