DON'T MISS OUT ON THE BIG CELEBRATION!!!How To Get Your Peace Globe November 2007

Don't you love a cold beer in a FROSTED mug?

Don't you hate waking up in the morning in the fall and having to scrape the FROST off of your car windows before being able to drive to work?

It FROSTS my butt that Cleveland fell apart and allowed the team from Boston to gain entry into the World Series.

"FROSTY the Snowman" was a jolly happy soul.

"WHEN the FROST is on the punkin and the fodder's in the shock"...WHAT the heck does that mean?

Robert Lee FROST (March 26, 1874 – January 29, 1963) was an American poet. His work frequently used themes from rural life in New England.

My favorite is chocolate FROSTING

When we were in our twenties and we had individual strands of gray hair coming in, we actually had someone ask us if we FROSTED it.

Visit OUR FRIEND MO for more MANIC MONDAY submissions...

One of our favorites from Neil Young...nothing to do with the theme today, but it has been in our head for a few days...

Enjoy....

"OLD MAN"

Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.

Old man look at my life,
Twenty four
and there's so much more
Live alone in a paradise
That makes me think of two.

Love lost, such a cost,
Give me things
that don't get lost.
Like a coin that won't get tossed
Rolling home to you.

Old man take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that's true.

Lullabies, look in your eyes,
Run around the same old town.
Doesn't mean that much to me
To mean that much to you.

I've been first and last
Look at how the time goes past.
But I'm all alone at last.
Rolling home to you.

Old man take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that's true.

Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.

In the movie Heart of Gold (2006), Young introduces the song as follows:

"About that time when I wrote that song [the previously played "Heart of Gold"], and I was touring, I had also -- just, you know, being a rich hippie for the first time -- I had purchased a ranch, and I still live there today. And there was a couple living on it that were the caretakers, an old gentleman named Louis Avala and his wife Clara. And there was this old blue Jeep there, and Louis took me for a ride in this blue Jeep. He gets me up there on the top side of the place, and there's this lake up there that fed all the pastures, and he says, "Well, tell me, how does a young man like yourself have enough money to buy a place like this?" And I said, "Well, just lucky, Louie, just real lucky." And he said, "Well, that's the darndest thing I ever heard." And I wrote this song for him."

22 Of Your Sparks

  1. I don't drink much beer, but when I do, I prefer it in a frosted mug. Of course, around here it doesn't stay frosted for long!

What the hell is frost on the windshield? Besides, that's what garages are for!

Don't talk to me about The Tribe. Ugh.

I just baked a cake this afternoon and frosted it with chocolate frosting - yum!

Ha! I think men with salt and pepper hair are sexy as all get out. Mmmmm...

  2. katherine. Says:
  3. good story about neil young and the caretalker!

  4. Angell Says:
  5. Ummm, lemmie guess - today's word was FROST?

Let's see - yes to the beer mug (is there any other way to drink it?)

And yes to the second one, although with the bout of warm weather we've been having lately, I haven't had to do that yet.

Baseball - sigh - no comment.

    I LURVES FROSTY THE SNOWMAN.

    I have no idea.

I love Robert's work. One of my favourite poets.

I agree on the chocolate frosting.

Agree with Songbird - salt & pepper hair is SEXY.

And thanks for the Canadian content. We luvs us our Neil.

    SMOOCHES.

  6. Travis Cody Says:
  7. Excellent frosty snippets.

Oh - a word about the World Series. FOX may have gotten its ratings wish. But this is one baseball fan that won't be watching. Even with the interest of Colorado in it, I'm too turned off these days by a certain individual on the Red Sox.

  8. SONGBIRD: wuts a garage? When you live in an apartment you don't get those
Did ya save me a slice or three?
Wish I still had the pepper...

KATHERINE: I also found it very interesting...thanks

ANGELL: See the way you figured that out all on your own! lol
Wait???? neil is canadian??? dang! LOL I knew that

TRAVIS: But wouldn't it be wonderful to watch the Rockies make that certain person's dreadlocks fall out from frustration???

  9. TRAVIS: Have to tell you one other thing on that... I find Eric Wedge to be a very unpleasant person. All I hear from him is 'we did not play well'...I don't ever hear him credit the other team...even after they beat the Yankees, I do not remember him giving them any credit as most managers do...his response to the question about his two aces spitting the bit was 'well we got experience and we will play better in the playoffs because of it' ummm ERIC, they both pitched about 70-80 innings more than they ever have...think they hit the wall mentally and physically? and I am sick of seeing that 'just cut perfectly 4 day old beard'

  10. Maggie Moo Says:
  11. :)

See, and my Sox going to the World Series is just FROSTing on the cake.

:) Don't hate me, we're just from opposite sides of the diamond...we can still be friends!

  12. Tug Says:
  13. Beer and milk in a frosted mug...not together of course. ;-) Love salt & pepper hair... GO ROCKIES! Damn tribe.

The song made me think of when my daughter & SIL bought their place...my ex sister-in-law said they could NEVER afford to live by her parents (right next door). My kids are doing very well out there, and we watched as her parents moved out, after the bank taking THEIR place back. ;-)

  14. Great story about the caretaker and Neil! I like me some Neil. Much more than I like Eddie Vedder trying to BE Neil ;)

  15. MAGS: We will always be friends pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft lol

TUG: Thanks for clarifying they are not together in the same mug! OOOOO karma!

STARRLIGHT: Agree on the Eddie TRYING to sound like Neil comment...

  16. OBLadyBug Says:
  17. I've never thought about the word Frost this many ways before:

Beer is always better in a frosty mug.

No more scraping off frost for me, I have a garage but did my share in the past.

No comment yet on baseball but see why it frosts your ...

We don't get many frosty snowmen around here.

I don't understand the frost punkin thing.

    Chocolate frosting is great,

but the frosted hair thing was the best.

  18. Julie Says:
  19. Umm "frost on the punkin and fodder's in the shock" It drives me nuts when people say or spell pumpkin wrong. This time of year is crazy nuts on me for that reason. But fodder on the shock...fodder=food and shock as a grouping of corn stalks?

  20. Sparky Duck Says:
  21. Bond, the Yankees better hurry and get out on the golf course, would hate to have them not get a few more rounds of golf in before the Frost closes the courses.

    Bwahahahaha

  22. OHLADYBUG: Thanks for sitting on The Couch...hope you enjoyed yourself

JULIE: That is the way it was spelled in the poem by James Whitcomb Riley dear heart

SPARKY: You know that was just so wrong...

  23. I dunno - I like salty men as well...(heh heh)

Yes, there are plenty of pieces left. C'mon down!

  24. Travis Cody Says:
  25. Good points about Wedge.

Note to self...don't over-groom any facial hair cause it irritates Vinny.

I will take pleasure in a Colorado victory...I just refuse to watch it. No offense Mags and any other Boston fans!

  26. Anndi Says:
  27. ROTFLMAO at Sparky. Good one oh fine feathered friend! me loves me some duck....

    Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

  28. BeckEye Says:
  29. "Old Man" is my favorite Neil Young song.

Boy, now I could go for a cold beer in a frosted mug!

  30. SONGBIRD: Ship one via Fed Ex ...lol

TRAVIS: TY Sir...and only when it is overdone like he does...Not sure I will be watching much myself...

ANNDI: Glad we all amuse you! LOL

BECKEYE: Have plenty of Molson GOlden and Ice in the fridge and 3 mugs in the freezer....

  31. Julie Says:
  32. Oh honey...i know that you didn't spell it wrong...I was just sharing a pet peeve of mine.

    Happy MM!

  33. Mimi Lenox Says:
