Thursday Tuneage News...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, January 22, 2009

Sure Monday's are Tuneage Tutelage - New Music Monday, but when music news comes out, you can not always wait a whole week.

First off, you will see a new music player beginning today. it is something I found on "Transition", Anndi's blog and it was right on time as Boxstr has redesigned their site and in doing so they no longer offer the option of a flash player code.

This player is embedded on the site, so any music I upload from here on will be part of the play list...what that means is in two weeks you say "Man, I want to hear that Lisa & Wendy song again", well now you will not have to go searching for that post because you can just click the song on the current post and when the player shows up, you can click the playlist tab and in there will be the song you desire...

We will see how it works...always looking for new and better ways to share music with y'all...
Found this information out yesterday and I have already been listening to the new album and enjoying it greatly...

Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, better known as the legendary duo Wendy and Lisa (of Prince fame), have released their new album, White Flags of Winter Chimneys. It is available exclusively on their web site (with unreleased bonus tracks), to be followed with CD and Limited Edition vinyl releases, as well as being made available at iTunes, Amazon MP3, and other digital music stores in March 2009.

Just found out that this week I will be receiving a copy of Bruce Springsteen's new CD Working On A Dream and will do a review on Monday. I will then offer the CD up to one of you lucky guests...

Stay tuned...

28 Of Your Sparks

  1. MY BOYS ARE BACK!!!

I LOVE U2. You knew this already =) I can't wait. And Green Day appears to be done recording their album so we should see that this summer. Those are my top two bands! WOOT! 2009 owns.

Wendy and Lisa. Ahh memories. Saw Purple Rain with my dad. The Senior Deliquent and Rocky Horror Picture Show Regular, Don Ferrell - who I totally owe my musical tastes too, may God Jebus bless him and Randy Brown - saw me with my dad and gave me shit for dating an older man from then on out.

Nevermind that I was a Freshman and Don was a Senior :P

    "Wendy?"
    "Yes Lisa?"
    "Is the water warm enough?"
    "Yes Lisa"
    "Shall we begin?"
    "Yes Lisa"

Computer Blue is a kick as song =)

  2. Schmoop Says:
  3. I'm sure Ryno will get that WWE CD. Yeah, I know, but I can't change his mind. Cheers!!

  4. DrillerAA Says:
  5. I think I'll get a copy of the WWE entrance music. I connect it to the garage door opener so that it will announce my arrival home from work each day. That ought to give my bride chills. Now all I need are some flashing lights and a smoke machine.

  6. Anndi Says:
  7. You're welcome hehehe!

Guess the only thing to comment on really is the single (I already knew about U2 *grin*). I listened to it, the whole thing. It's not enough to make me run out and buy the CD or squeeee but I would like to hear more.

iTunes is doing this type of promotion where they pick a song from one of the artists they have on there and let people download it for free - the Single of The Week. I ended up buying a CD because of it. Check them out, "The Script" ... nice.

I think you'll like the player. It's easier to go from song to another while reading posts since it's a pop-up.

Guess Black Kids are entertaining if you really like the music of the 80s... wait, I DID really like the music of the 80s! Maybe I should go to the Montreal concert... hmmmmm....

Ok, ok, so I commented on almost everything... except the WWE... cause seriously?

  8. Anndi Says:
  9. Oh... I was referring to the Wendy and Lisa single... need more, not enough to make my music cells tingle.

"Get on Your Boots" ROCKS! There's a reason U2 has lasted this long...

I'm gonna go SQUEEEEE with Starrlight and Songbird now!

  10. Bud Fisher Says:
  11. I never saw you as a WWE person. AT all. Thanks for the info on the new player. I've been bombarded by people wanting me to post a WTIT Tape. I may give it a whirl! Peace, bro...

  12. STARR: Gee, I did not know you liked U2...snarf...I have always like W & L...

MATT-MAN: Well, if one comes my way, I will make sure he does not have to spend his allowance

DRILLERAA: And what would your ring name be?

ANNDI: I think the player will work...I knew you were referring to Wendy & Lisa and SQUEEE away

BUD: Dude, because I report does not mean I like...not a WWE fan AT ALL!

  13. Coco Says:
  14. oh my, WWF made a cd? Uhh ... I'm just about speechless over that news. Just goes to prove there's a sucker born every minute, though.

Oh myyy, that U2 single is ... mmmm ... and Bono is ... *sighs*

    Finally: Wendy and who?

  15. COCO: Something for everyone I guess...Wendy & Lisa were a huge part of Prince's band during the time of Purple Rain...both excellent musicians...

  16. ...like the overall sound of Invisible...as for U2: I am on record as having made the statement, "There's The Beatles...then U2...nothing else matters."...

  17. Yup Wendy and Lisa were the backbone of the Revolution.

  18. PHFRANKIE: Well, I think some other bands do matter

    STARRLIGHT: Yup yup...

  19. Mimi Lenox Says:
  20. Happy Thursday to ya.
    Bruce is the man.
I ADOREEEEEEEEE him. (hint hint) Just sayin'....

  21. MIMI: First one to mention the Bruce blurb too....hummmmm just sayin'

  22. Dianne Says:
  23. Mimi beat me to it!

My only comment for today was going to be Bruuuuuuce!!!!!!!!!

    and I live in NJ

and I saw him at the diner with his kids and I didn't bother him. Got me a smile and a wave when he was leaving.

But Mimi is Peace Goddess and that means a lot so I'm good ...

Really I am, I'm fine, I really am
    hehehehehehehehehe

I would pay to NOT have the WWE album

  24. Have fun playing with your camera today, Vinny! :) I got myself a new camera: Canon 9 mp, 10x zoom... :)

  25. DIANNE: No one has been awarded the CD yet ... when I do the review THEN the best comment get it!
I will wait for your check or I will send you the WWE!

MARY:I am going to try...using my analog Canon A-1

  26. Yep, he did something wrong, at least in my point of view, sigh...

  27. FYI..Sarge's comment is in response to mine on his blog where he admonished our new President for missing the Medal Of Honor Ball and chastising him for going to the neighborhood Balls...

I left a comment that said "Of course he did something wrong that night...sigh"

Was it a snub? I doubt it...but that is just me

  28. Tug Says:
  29. Maybe it *IS* me...not thrilled here, either. I actually liked the WWE music, but the vocals kind of grated.

    sigh.

  30. BeckEye Says:
  31. I dig that new Wendy & Lisa song. I can't believe they're still around.

How did you get that fancy player on your blog? I tried to do it, but I thought you have to host the mp3 files somewhere on your site, and obviously Blogger won't host them. Do you have a secret mp3 liberry somewheres?

  32. Julie Says:
  33. Yeah...that pop up player was kinda cool. You have such a neato blog!

    **flutters eyelashes**

  34. Dana Says:
  35. Bruce Springsteen? Absolutely! But WWE?? Have you no shame Vinny??

  36. I'd SQUEEEEEE with Anndi (and Starr) if I had any energy. But, yeah, I'm super hyped by the new U2 single and album. Bring it already!

  37. TUG: That was Wendy & Lisa not WWE! LOL

BECKEYE: They are around for a looong time

JULIE: Well friends help make it that way stop that fluttering now!

DANA: Hey...I just report the news...LOL

SONGBIRD: Feel better and stop squeee'ing...too much energy

  38. Tug Says:
  39. No...sorry. I was confused. (long story, much suckage).

  40. Travis Cody Says:
  41. Interesting new music player. I'll have to check that out this weekend and see if I can figure it out.

  42. katherine. Says:
