Finally Friday...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, January 09, 2009

Ah Friday...the beginning of a weekend and one in which Nancy and I get to be together ALONE. It has been a month since we have had a weekend without something to do or with the boys, so our plans are to hibernate and watch some TiVo (Fringe 7 shows and Grey's Anatomy 5 shows) and just relax and snuggle and enjoy time alone from the world.

What are you doing this weekend?

Remember Monday we get back into TUNEAGE TUTELAGE - NEW MUSIC MONDAY'S.

I have two new artists to share with y'all and two people can walk away with a copy of the CDs we will be featuring.

If you have the time and remember, how about pimping that feature here on The Couch on your blog?

I would love to open up the opportunity for new music to others who might not know about it.

There is also some news out there in the music world we will share with y'all...

Last night was the Championship game in College Football. I am all for a playoff system in college football. To have these two teams playing - when you have undefeated teams out there and both of these have one loss, well it makes no sense.

The NBA (National Basketball Association)is in full swing --- WHO CARES!

The NHL (National Hockey League) is in full swing --- yawwwwwn

The NFL (National Football League) is winding down with the Super Bowl a few weeks away.

College basketball is heating up as the teams drive toward March Madness and billions of dollars being gambled on the outcome.

All well and good, but most importantly...

After Asylum Records rejected his Hoodoo album, John Fogerty decided to take a 9-year break from the music business. In the meantime, Fogerty's recording contract with Asylum Records was reassigned to co-owned Warner Bros. Records so this album was the first released on the Warner Bros. label.

It was the #1 album on the Billboard charts from March 23 - 29, 1985, knocking Make It Big by WHAM! out of the top spot.

HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEKEND...

24 Of Your Sparks

  1. Hope you and Nancy have a great weekend. Sounds like a very relaxing plan.

I look forward to getting back around to seeing your new music recommendations as well.

  2. In order for me to mention your weekly feature, that would mean you're assuming that I actually use my brain and PLAN a post before putting it up.

    Crap.

I hate planning, but for you? I'll see what I can do.

    *smile*

  3. Bud Fisher Says:
  4. Fogarty's album Revival was his best in years. It's from last year and he recorded it after he won the rightts to his songs back after 40 bitter years. So besides the title he pay hombrage to CCR with a song called "Creedence Song" sing "You can't go wrong if you play that Creedence Song". Have a great weekend!

  5. RWA: Enjoy your weekend Sir and look forward to Monday

  7. You are expecting great things when the Pinstripes commit the moon and stars in the free agent talent search.

I like the Sox, but even I have to admit to cringing when we saw NY's picks. At least the division of our choice is not the American League Least...

    Happy weekend!

  15. Jay Says:
  16. Wouldn't it be awesome if Texas and Florida and Utah and USC played next weekend and the winners of those two games played for the National Championship? Those would be great games!

Anybody who knocks WHAM out of the top spot is okay with me.

  17. JAY: That would be totally awesome...I am hoping they go to a Playoff when this contract is up.

I agree on the WHAM comment

    Have a great weekend

  18. Anonymous Says:
  19. On our way to Joe's swim meet. We will let you know how he does. We will be back late tonight. Tomorrow we are expecting 3-6 inches of snow. 20. TopChamp Says:
  21. Here at the end of March 1985 the no1 album was Phil Collins - No Jacket Required. From my websearch I recognise only two tracks from the album. Still - it is very different in style to yours.

It's SO Britain in the 80's. Listen for a laugh!

  22. Maggie Moo Says:
  23. Have a great weekend ALONE with Nancy. :)

  25. I totally agree with you on the college football playoffs.

  26. DrillerAA Says:
  27. Centerfield is actually one of my favorite Fogerty songs of all time. He has done some amazing work over the years, but this is just a fun song and perfect for any 7th inning stretch at the ball park!

  28. John Holland Says:
  29. I would say this is one of my favorite Fogerty songs but that list would be too long to list. I've seen him twice in concert and I've never seen a performer look like he's having a better time on stage.

  30. RW Says:
  31. Have a great weekend Vin and Nancy! Hey that "Fringe" is a awesome show! I just started watching that.

  32. Dana Says:
  33. Enjoy your snuggle time with Nancy!

  34. Liz Hill Says:
  35. If Utah wants respect they need to play in a real conference.

Go Gators (look I'm carrying that damn purse---it's leaching something*giggling*)

  36. Travis Cody Says:
  37. I don't care about the entire NBA, but my Lakers are tied with Cleveland for the best record right now and that makes me happy.

One of these days the idiots in charge will give us a proper college football championship. Until then, I refuse to call any winner a national champion.

I'm well on the road to March Madness. UNC may win the prize, but it's not going to be easy.

    Have a great weekend!

  38. Patti Says:
  39. Well I could hear John Fogerty at least!

I hope you had a great weekend. Happy Monday morning, Vinny.
