An email showed up yesterday and this is what it said:
Sorry kiddo - you got that part of the Christmas Eve meal tradition all wrong.
It was the Marini side of the family (or as you should have referred to it) - Dad's side of the family that did the Christmas Eve "thing" or actually Grandma Amelia who annually prepared the seven fishes etc. etc.
Love, Dad, representing Amelia's side of the story (which has been acknowledged by Mom :)
PS If you wish, you may print this in the comment column
I really do not have clear memories of Christmas Eve's with Grandma Amelia and Grandpa Ernest...I do remember the Christmas Eve's at Cousin Donnie and Linda's...
At least we got that straightened out!

The back is still giving me problems...Making me crazy after 10 days. I can not sit for long. Standing and walking (and even laying down on my side) works, sitting...not so much.
Yesterday I visited the Chiropractor again and had a massage there and that really helped. It has kept me out of the gym for two weeks and I actually miss it. Plus I can feel poundage sticking to my ribs and I hate that.

Yesterday the music players were not there for a period of time. The website was down and that was the cause. They seem to have reappeared around noon or so.
Remember to check out Part Two of the Radio Happy Hour beginning today.
Some funny stuff in Part One...and more during Part 2...

OK, well work for a while today and then it is time to get into NEW YEARS EVE DINNER PARTY mode...
OK, I know I told you that you would have to wait until after the party, but because I don't want to seem like a real pi**ant...the Appetizer Course will consist of Mini-Antipasto Plates...These will contain a couple of slices of Genoa Salami, a couple of slices of Prosciutto, a few green olives and a few black olives, a strip of roasted red pepper, a chunk of Parmesan-Reggiano cheese, a tomato and mozzarella Bruschetta, one or two anchovy fillets and a slice of mozzarella cheese.
The rest you will have to wait to hear about...
Be safe, watch out for the other people on the roadways...Enjoy those you are with for the coming of the New Year...
2008 ended up being a very special year for me. My relationship with Nancy grew beyond my dreams...my son Matt has had a good year and other than my not seeing him enough, he is doing wonderfully...
My family has been healthy (for the most part) and other than the back thing, I have made strides in getting my weight and health better.
Part 1 of our New Year's Eve Concert for y'all...I just selected 6 songs from the Warner/Chappell Collection. Now, understand that these were arranged in alphabetical order, so I am only into the "C's"...
"Careless Whispers" WHAM!; "About Quarter To 9" Al Jolson; "And She Was" Talking Heads; "Beat Goes On" Sonny & Cher; "Ain't We Got Fun" Doris Day & Danny Thomas; "Begin The Begine" Ella Fitzgerald
Part 2 will be up tomorrow...See y'all in 2009!
LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait...you have WHAM?! And I get crap for JT?! I call foul :P
Happy New Years Vinny, hugs to Matt and Nancy as well =)
Looking forward to the dinner, Old Sport!
the antipasta plates sound great bond... happy new year!
smiles, bee
xoxoxoxoxoxxxo
Awesome tuneage! Packing and getting road ready;-)
I'm laughing at Starr's comment. She's right, you know. You can't give grief for JT w/o getting some for WHAM!
So glad your father is around to set things straight, Vinny. Lucky for me, I can say whatever memories I want and have it be taken for gospel. The only one who dispute is my oldest sister who reads my blog, and usually she's so far behind in reading, by the time she disputes it, I've already had dozens of comments - ha!
HAH! Thank you Desert. Especially when the song in question is Careless Whimper :P
It must both be nice and weird having family into your blog. I think it is great! My kids check into mone, my mom has a computer but not surprisingly, she is only a fan of my family posts. I am off now to pick up more pain med for my back. Have a great day...
STARR: I have...i never said I liked! I play stuff here that are not always on my top 10!
BRAD: As are we Chap.
BEE: Thanks and the same to you and Sarge
TURNBABY: WOOO and HOOO
DESERT: I never said I LOVED WHAM like she LOVES JT
LOL on the dad thing...yeah, we are a family that sets the record straight.
STARR: Give it up girl...your infatuation with JT is scary!
Nah, I had 14 posters of Duran Duran on my wall. Justin is a logical progression. Besides, Justin is a naughty boy. I can just tell. Cause he is an aquarian. And we roll like that.
And sorry but YOU OWN WHAM. Man up :P
BUD: It is weird sometimes...hope the back feels better
STARR: I did not BUY WHAM...they were part of the collection! YOU on the other hand purchase music by the 'bad boy'...yeah bad like 'mommy spank me' bad...
And Justin would SO say that. But as adorable as JT is, he can not touch the uber hotness of Rob. He should feel no shame, Rob has surpassed Johnny Depp and Depp had the crown since 1985 :P
What collection did you get that had WHAM? And for the record, Wham not so much for me, I liked George solo better. But my Ex, Kidlet's dad was a huge WHAM fan =)
STARR: ah ha! So, you do not read my posts huh? Pick and choose what you read? I have spoken the last two days of the Warner/Chappell Collection...and that song was on it...
harumpffffffffffffff
LOL
No I read it, but I guess the fact that WHAM was on it didn't click. I got visually sidetracked by Sonny and Cher. I love Sonny and Cher. It was one of my favorite shows growing up =)
Ya still choose to play WHAM though :P
I would like to point out that guilty feet have got no rhythm.
*giggles*
BRAD: What? No work today?
STARR: I also love Sonny & Cher and I specifically put WHAM up today because I know deep down you are an Andrew Ridgeley groupie!
Did ya know Andrew is married to one of the girls from Bananarama? Can you GET more 80's than that?
Guess I was at the same Christmas Eve dinner that you were at. I also remember going to Cousin Linda's house. I am sure that Grandma Amelia cooked a feast but I don't remember going there Christmas Eve. I am sure we will hear about it...................
STARR: Too 80's for me!
LYNN: phew...thanks sis...I thought I was insane!
Thank you for the kind wishes Mr. Bond, I hope we can agree to disagree on most things and still be friends. Happy New Year Mr Bond.
OK - S1 & D1 (if I may use Fred's reference to his children), for the record -- I did not expect you to remember Christmas Eve at my parent's home, since S1 was less than a year old at the last Eve dinner at their home and S2 and D1 were still twinkles in the eye. The holidays were then celebrated at our home on Long Island for several years, with Grandma Amelia, Grandpa Ernie and Uncle Albert coming out from the Bronx, Mom was the "cooker" of the seven fishes etc.
It was a few years later, in the mid seventies, after my parents passed, that we started to go to Linda & Donnies.
As you say S1 - just getting the record straight. :)
Sorry to hear about your back. I hope you feel better soon.
As for your New Year's Eve celebration, the appetizer sounds amazing. I can't wait to hear about the rest.
And why am I not surprised that Starr is giving you grief about Wham!? You already stated that you don't OWN it, which is more than she can say for Justin Timberlake.
Happy New Year to you, Nancy and all of yours, Bond.
Vinny, I'm sorry about your back. I hope it gets better soon. Doews a chiropractor really help? I have back problems too and I've never tried a chiropractor...
HAPPY NEW YEAR! ALL THE BEST IN 2009!
Actually I don't own any NSYNC or Justin CD's. Just individual songs. Much to my regret :P
Looking forward to the New Year's Eve recap!
Best wishes for 2009! Maybe I'll pack Cam up and head south this year!
It's OK Dad Vince, I haven't trademarked the names yet. Use them while you still can.
I'm going to seek out a chiropractor, too. My pinched nerve is still bothering me and the meds aren't working. Good luck with your back.
I still eat canned ravioli. Does that make me a bad person?
It is the memories that count. I made my Christmas Eve dinner solo this year and I must say it was pretty good. One tradition that I guess will always continue is that I cooked way too much food. My baked clams were pretty good but still not as good as Mom's. Wish we could have been together.
Hi Freddy--the next time you are in New York, I will cook you fresh raviolis. Not from the can! They will be made with homemade gravy.
Happy New Year!
SARGE: all the best
DAD: We need to write this down somewhere!
RWA: Thanks..back is almost back to normal...She tries to justify her sick side that leans toward boy-bands!
MARY: Thanks..and yes, I am a firm believer in Chiropractic medicine...
STARR: Stand up and shout it..."I am a boy-band junkie"
DANA: You should absolutely do that...Music Fest..First weekend in may
FRED: LOL - you should get one that uses physical therapy also...and ummm FRED!!!! Ravioli out of a can?????
LYNN: OK, well if anyone sees your invite to Fred they are going to take his place and you might have a crowd!
Oh proudly! I love me some boy band. They are awesome and fun.
I also LOVE The Spice Girls. So there.
STARR: OK, I just got the shivers...we need to find another subject! LOL
HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIEND!
First of all, I couldn't hear Wilson or Ella. No idea why, I'm not very technical.
Secondly, Ralph made some great bruschetta for Christmas Eve, but we got to his sister's a bit late and I don't know if too many people got a chance to try it. (insert sad face)
Thirdly, I just wanted to say Happy New Year to you and Nancy.
My best to you and yours, Vinny, in 2009.
Love the Wham! song. And we need pictures (or better yet, video!) of the food!
