Do you listen to the "Doctor Blogstein Radio Happy Hour"? Did you listen this past Tuesday? If you did, then you heard the following before the rest of the country heard it on the show "Hardball" on MSNBC...

It also made the NY Post:
March 20, 2008 -- SEN. Hillary Clinton has an unwanted backer in her race for the presidency - Dennis Hof, owner of Nevada's Moonlight Bunny Ranch brothel.

On Internet radio show "Dr. Blogstein's Radio Happy Hour," Hof said, "It's amazing to me that there is one woman in America who would not vote for her. Whether you like Hillary or not, this is going to change the women's movement in America."

A man who runs a whorehouse must know how much the women's movement needs changing. We wondered if Clinton would distance herself from Hof the way Sen. Barack Obama stiff-armed Louis Farrakhan, but her people didn't reply.

Breaking News, Breaking Laughs, but never Breaking Wind..."Doctor Blogstein's Radio Happy Hour"...

Had a good weekend. Saturday we went and watched a high school baseball game during the day and then later that evening watched two more games. Weather was nice, though it got awful chilly at night.

Congrats to Ernie for his HS team's win and to Peter for the sweep of his team's doubleheader.

Sunday evening we had Easter dinner with darlin' Nancy and the boys. Yummy ham and green beans and deviled eggs and mashed yams with marshmallows...

When we were not watching baseball or having dinner, we had on March Madness...We went 37-11 for the first two rounds of March madness. Out of the 8 games in the Sweet 16 we already have two loses with Duke and Georgetown biting the big one over the weekend. All four of our final teams are still playing, so that is a good thing.

We are in 4th place out of 69 in the HS Baseball team pool. First and second are the same guy and there are two of us tied for fourth. Over on cbs sportsline, the scoring is a little kookie, as both the guy in first and myself both have 37 wins. It is based upon wins and the seeding of the teams that win.

He has already lost three teams in the Sweet 16, so if we do well next weekend, we could move up easily.

We also spent our time beginning the digitization of the vinyl. We are going in order for the most part, am planning on skipping a tad since we are expected to bring the soundtrack down to the TKE Party in Tampa in a few weeks.

This whole process is real interesting. The software program is called Audacity and it really does the job.

Our vinyl is in pretty good shape for the most part, but by nature there is some noise and a few click and pops, and Audacity removes a great deal of it.

Above you see the beginning of the REMOVE NOISE process. Before starting you take a reading on a spot where there is no music.
The beginning of the track you see the thin line. That is our baseline for noise. The Audacity pulls out all that noise.

Close up of the noise at the beginning of that track.

After being 'cleaned' - you can adjust sensitivity,
but have to be careful removing too much noise, it impacts the sound quality.

You can also, record a 33 1/3 album at 45rpm and then Audacity converts it back and does so very well. This is helpful when we got into it and wanted to get the music digitized. You get 10 minutes of music recorded in 7 minutes. For one album, no big deal - but when you are doing 10 - 11 albums it can save over an hour of recording time.

What a final side of music looks like after having noise removed - there are three songs there. Removing 'clicks and pops', adjusting the speed and "normalizing the volume. This is also a great feature, as it makes all the audio in the same volume range at it's highs and lows, no matter what volume you record it at.

So, we got the Aerosmith done and much of The Allman Brothers...and then jumped to grab you a classic and to let you hear the raw and refined audio.

W scooped up on of our 45's. It was BLOOD SWEAT & TEARS "Spinning Wheel". The 45 is probably 15 - 20 years old.

The first file is the raw file. We just recorded it right into the iMac and did not make any adjustments.

This file, we removed noise, removed clicks and pops, normalized and added the bass boost.

Finally, this is a version off of a CD we owned...

Can you hear the difference? It is hard to tell without having a turntable right there and playing the original vinyl, but we think the final product is much closer to the warmth of vinyl than is the manufacturer digitized version you would get on a CD.

Happy Easter...YEEEEEOWWWWWWWWW

Don't be the last one without a new, sparkling, cool and groovy Couch Button! LOL...thanks to those who have decorated their blogs.

Big Dance began yesterday and we are sure our most excellent friend Travis will be giving you top-notch coverage. We have two brackets going. One over with Sparky Duck that has basically crashed and burned in the Midwest Region, where we had USC going to the final four.

But the other bracket which is with a group from NJ, and some of the proceeds goes to support Matt's old HS Baseball team...well as of this writing with 12 games completed and four in process, we are 11-1...

JINX alert! bwahahahahahahahahaha

Maybe the games will be over before we hit post...or go to bed....

To those who celebrate, have a terrific Easter weekend. Did you have to work today on Good Friday?

We are open, but the feeling is a notice will go out closing at 3 or so. As a contractor, we are not bound by what the company does, but normally follow their lead.

We will be joining darlin' Nancy and the boys for a nice ham dinner on Sunday. Hopefully you will be with family or loved friends for a nice meal and to celebrate the most important holiday in the Christian liturgy. The Resurrection of Christ.

We are not a practicing Catholic any longer. That ended years ago, just before my eighth grade began at Christ The King school. I worked on Mom Joan and Dad Vince hard to get into public school and they finally acquiesced. Funny thing is that the school was not sad to see me go.

I was not what you would call the most perfect parochial school student.

We were thrilled to be moving into public school after 4 years in an environment of nuns and lay teachers who were just as mean as the nuns. Sister Mary Kenneth was actually pretty attractive - well all you could see was her face in the habits they wore, but the boys thought she was 'purty'....LOL

Thing is, she had a friend she called 'Suzie'. 'Suzie' was a long wooden pointer...you know with the rubber pointed tip at the end.

Well, when you did something 'inappropriate' - which covered a myriad of infractions, you would be ordered to make a fist and lay it flat on your desk, knuckles pointing to the sky. She was incredibly skilled at whacking that damn pointer right along the tops of your knuckles.

A full on slam...no pussy-footing around...nope. Then their was Mother Superior, Sister Mary Jean...no, not Mary Jane...Mary Jean...

She was getting up in years so it was difficult for her to handle a paddle. She had this device where when she stepped on a lever, a spring loaded paddle would whip around and hit you square in the rear as you bent forward....YEEEEEOWWWWWWWWW

Ah yes...the only way to learn that God loves you is to make sure you FEEL the love.

We did not know how to lay low back then either...we tended to be out in front at certain times. Then at others, we were the wallflower. Oh wait....Gemini..yeah, almost forgot! But we got in our share of situations during our years there.

Oh right...Easter...yup...color the eggs...let the kids go find them (if they are young enough- though we still like to hunt for them, especially if they have money taped to them...bwahaahahahahahaha) ... worship as you do, whether that be in your heart or in a brick and mortar building...

Stay safe and we will see you on Monday...oh BTW 15-1...damn USC

This is by a band called JAZZ PASSENGERS. They are a jazz group founded in 1987 by saxophonist Roy Nathanson and trombonist Curtis Fowlkes.

Other regular members include vibraphonist Bill Ware, bassist Brad Jones and drummer E.J. Rodriguez.

After appearing on their In Love album in 1994, Deborah Harry became a regular member of the band, appearing on a number of follow-up albums, including Individually Twisted (which includes two duets with Elvis Costello).

This is one of those duets..."Doncha Go Away Mad"

OK, we got it uploaded..

OK...lifelogger is not taking any uploads it appears, so a rerun for today...if tomorrow morning we can get it to take, we will post the above mentioned song, so stop back. Until then..."Statesboro Blues"

ENJOY....

Welcome To The Weekend

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, April 14, 2006 0 Of Your Sparks

Happy Passover, Happy Easter...

Work has kept me away from posting until now... and has kept me from finding those interesting tid-bits I share with you... my 500 or so readers! LOL

These are a few that missed the cut earlier this week, but I still find interesting...

A Malaysian man said he nearly fainted when he received a $218 trillion phone bill and was ordered to pay up within 10 days or face prosecution. The man had disconnected his father's phone in January and paid the $23.00 bill. A short time later this bill arrived and floored the man...It has not been decided if this bill was a mistake or the man's dead father's phone was used illegally after his death.

OK, now riddle me this... $218 trillion dollars???? And no one can decide if it a mistake or not???? C'mon folks... There is no way .. I repeat NO WAY that this is NOT a computer F-up...

Did you hear about the horrible occurrence in Detroit? It seems a woman collapsed in her apartment and her 5 year old son did what he should have...he dialed 911. The operator told the boy to get off the phone and stop playing pranks or she would have the police come and arrest him!!!!
The woman's son placed two calls to 911 after his mother collapsed Feb. 20 on the kitchen floor. During one of the calls, an operator said: "You shouldn't be playing on the phone."
In a tape of the call, parts of which were broadcast by Detroit-area television stations, the operator said: "Now put her on the phone before I send the police out there to knock on the door and you gonna be in trouble."
In an audio of the tape played on TV, some of what the boy says is unintelligible.
The police arrived 3 hours later and the woman was dead.
The kicker.. the 911 operator is STILL ON THE JOB, while they investigate.

OK, riddle me this...How do they keep this fool on the job ... putting people's lives in their hands every day. They should not be on the job... buh bye

We will leave you with a happy story...If you go here, you will find a web cam that is in a fixed position watching the nest of a Bald Eagle Mother, sitting on her unhatched eggs. The eggs are supposed to hatch sometime this month, so you can keep an eye out for the babies to be born. There is audio there also, so you can hear the wildlife around the nest.. it is verrrry cool.

Again.. Happy Holidays to all...

Has Barry Bonds retired yet? No? Too bad.

Keep that spark of insanity kids...It helps keep you an individual.
