So, how the heck was your weekend? Mine included a large number of hours cleaning.
Nancy and I gave the house a good going over, which was needed. So now the house is nice and clean and ready to be enjoyed...and it is BACK TO WORK! LOL funny (not really) how that happens, don't ya think?
Pray for the people of Louisiana who lost the lottery and will have their towns and homes flooded to ensure other, more populated areas are not inundated by the mass of water that has built in the Mississippi and its tributaries.
Unfortunately, it appears the Army corps of Engineers might not have anticipated how much water is heading for Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Ah yes, Mother Nature...

This week:
RUSTY WRIGHT
and
GINA SICILIA
SIT ON
THE COUCH
BLUES AND AMERICANA AT ITS BEST

Rusty Wright is the leader. lead guitarist and lead vocalist of the Rusty Wright Band. Along with his rhythm guitar playing, vocalist wife, Laurie LaCross-Wright, Dave Brahce on keyboards, Andy Barancik on bass guitar and Pete Haist on drums they have been turning heads now for a few years.
I got to witness their full-on blues explosion at this years International Blues Challenge. Having shared billings with the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Etta James and Charlie Musselwhite, you know this is a tight unit.
We will chat with Rusty (and maybe even Laurie) about their journey, their soon to be released album RWB3 and we will hear music from their past two albums Playin With Fire and Ain't No Good Life.

Then I sit with Ms. Gina Sicilia, a young woman from the Philadelphia area who exploded onto the blues scene in 2008 when she was nominated for “Best New Artist Debut” at the Blues Music Awards.
She has performed on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise and will be making her way to Memphis for this year's BMAs.
Her 3rd release, "Can't Control Myself", dropped March 1st on the VizzTone Label Group and we will get to hear selections from this great album which contains seven new compositions, and three covers borrowed from Bobby Bland, Stevie Wonder, and Ike & Tina Turner.
We will take your calls and questions for both guests at 1.347.633.9400.
Come sit on The Couch and meet musicians you should know.

Just got back from Nawlins. The Big Muddy is very full, with in 18" of flood stage. Those people upstream are indeed in my prayers. I guess that's why they call it flood control, and not flood prevention. When we get as much rain as we've had this year, somebody's gonna get wet. Very unfortunate situation.
We had hail here in the Sacramento Valley this weekend.
Hail, I tell you.
They had to blow a levy up on the Missouri side of the Mississippi River to save towns in Illinois. Very unfortunate, but mother nature usually wins these battles.
And now they're opening spillways in Louisiana that haven't been opened in decades. Crazy I tell ya. But again, what else can they do? Those levees around Nawlins are all built with prayers and false promises.
Seems kind of like the little Dutch boy, trying to plug up the Big Muddy with a finger here and a finger there. Rough times.
I can't imagine knowing my home is about to be flooded
those folks are in my thoughts
happy tuesday sexy voice :)
DRILLER: Hope you still had a grand time
JAY: Sad for those in front of the oncoming water
TRAVIS: LOL...close enough
DIANNE: And Happy Tuesday to you also
PHFRANKIE: Hail???? Serious??!!
Hope you continue to stay dry; I can't imagine the stress involved in "what if" - that feeling everyone in the flood plain has been feeling for weeks.
Not to complain and all, but is there a particular reason why your shows have been blues-centric for several weeks now?
Another great line up of guests! You sure know where the talent is.
