Congrats to my Yankees for winning their 100th game of the season and in doing so winning the AL East Championship!
They did it this weekend by sweeping the Boston Red Soxand in doing so, evening their season series at 9-9. This is incredible as the Red Sox won the first 8 games of the series.
Next up will be the Playoffs and then the World Series...I am hopeful we will bring the World Championship back to the Bronx and be able to hang the 27th Banner next season!
The flight Monday morning took us to Charlotte Airport and then on the next flight took us to Sangster International in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It is one of the largest, busiest and most ultra-modern airports in the Caribbean capable of handling 9 million passengers yearly; that is three times the size of the Jamaican population. The airport is named after Jamaican Prime Minister Sir Donald Sangster.
We were met and escorted to the Sandals Greeting Center where Rum Punches were awaiting. Then onto a bus for a 10 minute ride to the resort.
Once we arrived there, we were escorted to the Concierge Lounge where we were again offered cocktails while we were checked in. Then we were taken down to the beach for a lunch at the grill there.
When our room was ready our Butler Devon came and found us and brought us there. Our room came with "Butler Service" which afforded us many amenities. Our two Butlers were Devon & Orlando. Each afternoon we were served a fruit and cheese plate in our room and on a number of days some fresh shrimp came along. We were also able to use room service 24 hours a day and could order from any restaurant (outside the room service menu) for meals in our room if we preferred. We were given a cell phone to call our Butler at any time for anything - want some 'champagne' while sitting on the beach? Call the Butler and it arrives!
They also made all our reservations at the restaurants at Sandals Royal Caribbean (our resort) and at Sandals Montego Bay (located about 15 minutes away). If you have a regular room you have to deal with all that yourself.
Would we do it again? Nancy and I are not sure, but for our honeymoon it was well worth it.
By the time we were settled in our room it was around 4 in the afternoon. We sat on the balcony and just relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and view.
That evening we ate at the main restaurant where they were having a buffet of different cuisines. We then headed back to our room for a quiet evening.
In our room, our bar was stocked with whatever alcohol we requested. Every day the refrigerator was stocked with Red Stripe beer and Pinot Grigio. A new bottle of Cabernet also arrived each day. All were complimentary in our room grade.
The second day (Tuesday) was our day to overindulge. Beer and Pina Colada's (with a shot of rum added on top) were the drinks of the day and we laid on the beach and swam in the crystal blue water.
That evening we ate at the English-style pub called Cricketers. We ordered black and tans (made with Red Stripe) and then ordered the Lamb Stem and Shepard's Pie. The Lamb Stew was mouth-watering incredible. I wish I had some right now as my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The Shepard's Pie was also very good.
I will tell you that I did not always have my camera with me and sometimes, even when I did, I did not get pictures of all the meals.
Now the photos of Days 1 & 2...

More from there later in the week
you don't have to tell me!
See you tomorrow...

Great pictures, Vinny =) Cept I am hungry now and all I can scrounge up is raisin bran.
That's not a shepherd's pie. It shouldn't have cheese on it and there seem to be a lot of vegetables in there.
The cocktails on the beach... yum! And all that sunshine - making me sick when I'm sat in dreary Scotland looking out at rain AGAIN.
So - private island...
It looks awesome about one quarter way down the post.
Sounds like heaven. YES YANKS!!
Laugh @ Star! Me too!
Great pics Vinny....lovin' hearing the details. Keep sharing! Being waited on hand and foot sounds fantastic!
Looks like your new life as a married man is off to a great start.
Looks like a great place for a honeymoon mon.
Great pics, now tell me...How good was the pot? Cheers Vin!!

Oh, and it's official - I've posted on my blog again. ;P
The only thing I want in life is to have my bar automatically restocked for me each day. And maybe some Cuban cigars. ;-)
I'd add my coffee pot, Jay.
what a lovely way to begin married life...
(did you bring one laptop or two?)
SONGBIRD: definitely do it...we met a few couples there celebrating their 20th...of course they thought we were too until we said "nope newlyweds!"
