Arrrrrrrrg Thursday...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, April 16, 2009

yeah yeah yeah...yesterday was Tax Day...when we all become subservient grovelers and kneel in front of the symbol of the IRS and supplicate before it. The symbol of the IRS? A big 'ole BUTT...yup, if you have ever had to deal directly with these government officials, you would know that the only way to survive is by kissing some butt.

But you know what? I did not give a crap. HECK-A-DOODLE NO! Why is that you ask? Well, my taxes were done in February and I have already spent my meager return by paying some bills.

So, I figure if I stay away from the post office, I should not have to deal with a financial butt-kissing yesterday.

WRONG!

The first quarter just ended and my company pushed us hard the last two days to bill our client as much as we could. This became a jousting match as they were asking me to bill stuff that had not been completed yet and I pushed back. I won on most, but lost on some and yesterday was a brain-hemorrhaging day of 9+ hours calling for vendor bills and then invoicing the client.

MY HEAD HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to lie down and relax and hope that the sun is shining tomorrow and the ache in my shoulders has gone away.

You listen to what can only be the theme song of April 15th here in the US.

See y'all tomorrow...

  11. Bud Fisher Says:

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.

    ?

  18. ...all I can say is: George Harrison was the real deal!...

  19. On a Lennon note my kidlet is using some of John's Poems for her school report. I think she is going with No Flies On Frank.

Personally I am partial to Good Dog Nigel. It is so very John.

  20. Jay Says:
  21. Unless a person is going to have to pay in, there is no reason to wait until the last minute to do taxes. Hell, if you have to pay in you might as well get them done and write the check and then mail it on the 14th. Best to get these unpleasant things done and over with and move on. They have to be done.

And every company is always focused squarely on quarterly numbers. That's all its about. Just get the quarterly numbers. Don't worry about the NEXT quarter or next year.

  22. Oh my ... billing people for work that hasn't been done? Glad you pushed back on that one.

  23. KATHERINE: I like yours better than mine!

PHFRANKIE: just saying, you are so right

    STARR: How cool is that?

JAY: Man, you living in my head? I get so frustrated because in Q2 we will steal from Q3 and then at the end of the year, everyone goes flaky because there is nothing to steal from and well...hell, my company is doing damn good, so because of wall street you get all panicked and it is crazy

SOUTHERN: yeah, but that does not mean I win!

  24. Travis Cody Says:
  25. Totally forgot it was tax day because I already took care of my business.

But I did watch the Mariners last night and I knew about MLB's fine tribute to Jackie Robinson. It's always important to honor our history.

  26. Dana Says:
  27. I'm trying to muster up some sympathy for you but ... but ... I DIDN'T GET A REFUND!!!
