As we promised...a week of new music. I am hoping all the CDs I ordered arrive in a timely fashion.
Today we will feature two artists. One we have a CD for, the second, the CDs are no longer available.
Remember, if you like the sounds of an artist for which we have the CD, you can make your case for us sending it to you in the comments area.
Everyone is eligible for this week, but once you have been selected to receive a CD, your eligibility expires for this week.

To start the week, this is Donna Lewis. A CD is available for one lucky guest.
Donna Lewis now hails from Woodstock, NY and lists as her influences Faithless and Blue Nile. Her website is located HERE and she has a myspace page HERE.
We did not see any show information for Donna.
Some notes from her PR release:
Born and raised in the Welsh city of Cardiff, Donna was classically trained at the Welsh College of Music and Drama, majoring in flute and piano. Her debut album NOW IN A MINUTE was released in 1996 to universal acclaim. The first single "I Love You Always Forever" became an instant global phenomenon, climbing to the top of the charts in countries around the world. In the USA, it re-wrote the record books at radio by exceeding 1 million 'spins' to claim its place in music industry history as the most-played single ever, at that time.
After a long hiatus during which she raised a family, Multi-platinum recording artist Donna Lewis finally returns with her first proper studio album in a decade with the release of IN THE PICK on April 8, 2008.
Featuring the first single "Shout," Donna's eleven new tracks seem to pick up right where she left off. Her overly acute sense of pop sensibility remains firmly intact while simultaneously gravitating towards the newer sounds of bands such as Zero 7 and Hooverphonic.
“I didn't plan on being away for this long,” Lewis commented. “After Blue Planet, I had the opportunity to work on some great collaborative projects which I found really interesting and enjoyable. Then I did something I had always wanted to do, record an acoustic album, Be Still which I just put out on my website. I had a baby in 2003 and decided to take a complete break to be a hands on mum - I wouldn't change anything about that time, it has been incredible sharing his first few years....Having a break from my own writing and recording and working on (these) interesting projects, took me down new and different avenues and allowed me to approach IN THE PINK refreshed and with a new perspective.”
We will share the song "Shout" and the song "You To Me"

Next up is Josh Charles, who hails from Brooklyn, NY. His influences are Dr. John, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Bill Withers and The Band, some pretty great musicians.
There is no CD available for Josh, but you can find out more about him from his website HERE and from his myspace page HERE. You can also buy the music from his EP on iTunes.
This is from Josh's bio sheet:
Hey everybody .... I'm a piano player. Write songs. Sing and play some guitar. And been very fortunate to have played with some great musicians from Wynton Marsalis and Tony Bennett to Johnny Adams. Since I was a kid, I've played the gamut -- the worst dive bars with piano keys so jagged that I cut up my fingers every night, some amazing concert halls, outdoor festivals, great clubs and even floating theaters at sea.
My mentor/teacher and friend is Dr. John and I can say that I am blessed to have had the opportunity to learn from a master. As far as my music goes, I'm just trying to write songs that move people and have something to say. Thankfully, I've been blessed to find a lyricist named Ric Steel who brings out the heart and soul of the human spirit with his words. If my music makes you feel sad, joyous, or anything else after hearing it, then I guess I've done my job. When I get onstage to perform, well that's the only place in the world I want to be at that time. I will give you everything I have and more because that is what I do -- Play like it's the last show I'll ever do.
I grew up in Kansas City and started playing in blues clubs when I was a teenager. New York City (Brooklyn) is my home right now even though I"m more of a "wandering nomad" type and I feel a close kinship to New Orleans. It's hard to put into words what that city means to me, but having been there right up until Hurricane Katrina and spent a lot of time there since, I can say that it's one of the most important and influential places in my life as an artist.
I just released my debut Josh Charles EP which features members of Dr. John's band, my touring band, and was recorded in New Orleans and New York. My co-producer, Steve Jabas and I spent months and countless hours working on the EP and worked with one of the best mixers around now -- Ken Lewis (Jay-Z, Beastie Boys, Lenny Kravitz). So many great people and amazing musicians were involved and I am so grateful to have been able to work with each and every one of them.
Josh will be performing at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ on November 8th.
We present you with two from Josh. "The Answer" and "Picking Up The Pieces". This guy has made the rotation on my iTouch. I love his sound.

REMEMBER TO LEAVE YOUR VOTE, THE ARTISTS DO CHECK OUT THE POLLS!
See you tomorrow with some more music!
See you tomorrow with some more music!
Donna Lewis' sound is just not for me. It sounds a little like a teen pop star attempting to do adult contemporary.
Josh Charles is the kind of music I really enjoy. There is a real blues sound with just enough soul to pay homage to the past without sounding like he's trying to imitate the greats. I would buy this CD. Thanks for sharing his stuff with us.
...In Josh I hear...shades of Delbert McClinton...Tower of Power...and yes, Dr. John.....good sound...
I thought I had left a comment...I know I voted. Wow, I am losing my mind. Cheers Vinny!!
DRILLERAA: Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
PHFRANKIE: Very cool dude...yup, I hear them all too.
MATT-MAN: Do-do-do-do...welcome to the Blogger zone..and as far as your mind, that is a short journey to losing it
I remember Donna Lewis and that song I Love You Always Forever is on at least 2 of my mix cd's.
This Josh kid is awesome!
STARR: No surprise YOU remember her and have her on some mix CDs...you rock when it comes to music
I also knew you would love Josh...he is incredible!
I am so pissed...either the IT guys did something new on this update they just forced on us - cause my Play.it is not working
Or the Play.it site is down..but the dang player loads and then NADA!!!!!
It's your Geeks, hon. Play.it is working for me and I am listening to your station right now.
IT Geeks suck. I know. Married one, dated another.
STARR: Damn geeks.... ARGGGGGGGGGGG
I remember Donna Lewis
I'm having some issues with player right now, I'll be back :)
Never heard of either. Since I was still in rock radio in 1996 I am surprised I had never heard of Lewis. But either way, it's a no to her from me. Not bad, but sounds like a lot of singers I like better.
Josh rocks. Sweet. You can hear the Dr John influence. Great post!
2/2 this week. Josh was better...I really like his music.
CD1: I almost went to that college. I had to vote positively for her for that reason mainly... Welsh loyalty though I did like it too.
Josh was really good.
I am very impressed with Josh. I am headed off to iTunes to look for his EP.
This is a great thing you've got going here, Bond - getting to preview all of this music.
I like Josh, and would like to hear more. Not REALLY into either, but that could just be that I'm tired & sick & ready for bed. At 5 pm. ;-)
Liked Josh a lot. I agree with Phfrankie that he has quite a bit of Delbert McClinton in his voice and music.
Good stuff.
DIANNE: Thanks for you semi-input! hope the player problem got resolved
BUD: Thanks my friend...glad you liked Josh, he is hot
FRED: Thanks Sir for the input
TOPCHAMP: Loyalty is a good thing!
RWA: Glad to introduce you to someone you enjoyed so much. I am lucky.
TUG: Feel better dear...hate that you are not feeling well. Hope the nephew is feeling better.
TRAVIS: yup yup yup...real good stuff.
I'll be OK, thanks - just had granddaughter coughing & sneezing in my face for a weekend ;-). Well worth it. J's still really sore, but ok - thank you! They're on fall break so he can actually get some rest & relax a little, which is good.
Really do like Picking up the Pieces here...and I like Donna, too, just wish it was a little stronger maybe? Not sure what word I'm looking for - she sounds too airy...light...maybe a little 'oomph' in it - does that make sense?
OK...bed time. Love the introduction to the new music!
I had the same thoughts as DrillerAA on Donna Lewis - just a little too bubble gum for me. But Josh Charles? Not only does he have a great voice and style, but I loved the horns in "Picking Up The Pieces"
I always thought that Donna Lewis song was annoying as hell.
I really like Josh Charles---I'd buy his stuff. He needs to come and play in memphis say around January 1;-)
TUG: Thanks again for the input...and feel better soon
DANA: Appreciate the feedback, as do the artists.
TURNBABY: I am working on getting him to Memphis, no doubt...
Donna Lewis is ok, but I really like Josh Charles. Definitely can hear Dr. John in him. I want to make his show tonight but work is early tomorrow and I don't think I can do it. I wouldn't be surprised if Dr. John shows up at his show since they're close and I know the Doctor is down for Jazz Fest. It should be a great show.
