1982...a camping trip with some buddies in the Adirondack Mountains in New York State. After a day of hiking and being caught in a downpour, we all made it back to our campsite and relaxed with multiple liquid refreshments.

Prior to cooking dinner, our fire was used for another reason...Changes to teh original photo were to saturate the picture and add some contrast.

Thanks to STARRLIGHT for the heads up on this, found at MJ's Blog:

There’s some very good news breaking on the Taylor Hicks album front. Looks like he’s found a distributor, a producer, and set a release date–February 10, 2009– for his upcoming album:

Celebrating his birthday today (Tuesday, October 7th), Hicks has tapped the independent artist services company Artist To Market (A2M) to release his much-buzzed-about new album, due in stores on February 10, 2009.

The platinum-selling singer-songwriter will be releasing the new title with complete control of direction and ownership of his masters on his solely owned and operated, Modern Whomp Records label. Hicks is currently in the studio with producer Simon Climie (Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Faith Hill).

Some of the artists on the A2M roster are Tommy Lee, Sinead O’Connor, Tracey Lawrence and Dolly Parton.

The National Tour of the Broadway musical Grease begins on December 2 featuring Taylor as the Teen Angel. It runs through April.

When Taylor announced he’d be joining the Grease tour, I figured it meant his album wouldn’t drop until after the tour, but it looks like there’s been much activity behind the scenes to ready this album for release, which is a good thing. After Taylor is done with Grease, hopefully a summer tour will follow to promote the album.

TOUR DATES:
December 2 - 7, 2008 at the Providence Performing Arts Center, Providence, RI
December 9 - 14, 2008 at the Wharton Center for the Performing Arts, East Lansing, MI
December 16 -21, 2008 at Palace Theatre, Columbus, OH

Isn't this too much now? When will the rhetoric of fear and hatred be put to a halt?

From A rally held by Governor Palin:
"Now it turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," Palin said.
"Boooo!" said the crowd.
"And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,'" she continued.
"Boooo!" the crowd repeated.
"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.

Kill Him? Isn't this a threat against a candidate for President? Should this man not have been taken away by police? Shouldn't the candidate speaking have shouted him down with a reprimand for inciting violence?

Secret Service spokesman Malcolm Wiley. The shout of "kill him" followed a Sarah Palin rant on Obama's relationship with radical Chicagoan Bill Ayers.

Wiley says the Secret Service did not begin looking into the matter until press reports, namely Dana Milbank's article in the Washington Post, surfaced today, because no agents at the event heard anything. "The Secret Service did not hear any threatening statements directed at targets under its protection and no threatening statements were reported to us by law enforcement or citizens at the event," Wiley said.

I certainly hope they confiscate all video from this rally and find this man.

SOURCE: Washington Post

From another rally held by Governor Palin:
Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, FL, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000.

Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."

Is this 1950???????????????

And it is not just happening at Governor Palin's rallies...

Senator McCain was speaking in New Mexico, doing his usual personal attack on Barack Obama, as the stock market plummeted (you can see the ticker next to McCain - but let's NOT talk about the economy), and McCain asked the crowd "who is Barack Obama?"

Immediately you hear someone yell "terrorist." McCain pauses, the audience laughs, and McCain continues on, not acknowledging, not chastising, not correcting. Oh, but McCain does say in the next sentence that he's upset about all the "angry barrage of insults."

And how does the McCain camp feel about all this? Well it appears they have no other choice..."It's a dangerous road, but we have no choice," a top McCain strategist recently admitted to the Daily News. "If we keep talking about the economic crisis, we're going to lose."

This is not what MY country is about. I thought we were moving on from these things. Standing together to stay strong. Today I am disgusted with this 'politics as usual - 'smear them to hell and back' attitude

Should Senator Obama have allowed Bill Ayers to hold a rally in his living room? It does not seem to have been the prudent thing to do.

I truly do not know much about Mr. Ayers since his time with the Weathermen, but he holds the title of Distinguish Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Education. His interests include teaching for social justice, urban educational reform, narrative and interpretive research, children in trouble with the law, and related issues.

Does this change what he did back in the 60's? Absolutely not. Many people took part in activities back then to protest the war. I did many things as a youth that I am not particularly proud of today, but I grew up and changed. Look at many of those people of the 60's and see them today, solid members of society. Hell, Dennis Hopper is doing commercials about retirement for Ameriprise...DENNIS HOPPER, the icon of the 60's "F-U" generation.

Shall we check out some affiliations Governor Palin and her husband have had...as recently as the last 10 years??? Check it out HERE.

And now the seven officials subpoenaed to testify in the Troopergate investigation have agreed to appear. The Governor might not be holding any rallies except for the local soccer organization in the near future.

I despise any type of smear-politics and it is normally the last resort of the candidate who sees their chances of winning slipping away.

Unfortunately, in the past, this type of campaign has worked...we can only hope that is not the case this time.

If you are a supporter of a candidate that uses smear tactics and incites hatred toward their opponent it is YOUR DUTY as a citizen of this great country to write to them and tell them to stop. It must be done today, tomorrow, four years from now...whenever it occurs.

  2. After the last few days I feel the train is starting to loose it's grip on the track. McCain's starting to blow and I think the coservetive base is going to let him crash and burn by himself. He'll be a very angry "little" man when it's all over and done.

  3. Twyla Says:
  4. Oh my word! The election in the US is getting out of hand. I really hope Americans make the right choice. I wish I were allowed to vote. LOL
But I'll be voting in Canada's federal election next week. I honestly don't know who to vote for, because no one talks about the good things they are going to do for our country. They spend their time tearing the other candidates down.

  5. DrillerAA Says:
  6. Glad to see Taylor Hicks is back in the studio with a heavy hitting producer. Looking forward to the new CD.

  7. MICKEY-T: The rhetoric tinged with hate is what gets me

TWYLA: As I called for here, messages should be sent to those candidates who feel the need to trash an opponent and not talk about the issues

    DRILLERAA: It is exciting.

  8. Bob Johnson Says:
  9. Politics suck , no matter what party, they all lie, and we always find out too late, having said that, love your CP entry, made me laugh.

  10. Dianne Says:
  11. Oh I love 'boots a dryin' what a great photo!! I think it may be my favorite of your CP entries to date!!

I have come to the realization that McCain picked Palin because he wanted a dirty campaign. He just didn't want to do it himself. Plus they can pull out the sexist card whenever someone questions her and they can bring up her children and her (so called) religious values.

A very left leaning writer - his name escapes me at the moment - wrote when Palin was first chosen that he thought McCain wanted to start a 'race/religion war' - at the time I found that too extreme, even for me. But now - it is making me sick and anxious and terribly ashamed of where this country is. I fear that writer may have been correct.

I truly hope the majority of Americans wake up.

  12. I too am lovin' the boots pic! Great colors. Reminds me of camping in the fall!

  13. MATT-MAN: If it is not on the cards they have prepared, she knows nothing of it...even though she reads "every newspaper out there" HA

BOB: Thanks on the entry comment...I know they all lie...it is when they incite hatred that I draw the line

DIANNE: Wow..thanks on the photo...That is a very scary thought indeed and I am hopeful Governor Palin ends up back in her igloo before she is put in jail for her misuse of power

    RLL: Thanks so much!

  14. Oh for God's sake's the whole Ayers thing is so tertiary a connection as to be laughable. And if Ayers was THAT BAD...why is he not in jail. For that matter why was my Biological Father not in jail? Brad was a Weatherman which is why I have an FBI file :p

The racial over tones...the "that one!" comment...I NEVER thought I would prefer Dubya over anyone else with a pulse, but guess what Johnny Mac and Sarah Throw My Knocked Up Kid Under The Media Bus Palin....Dubya looks good next to you two.

  15. Tug Says:
  16. I love that picture - the naturalness of the colors, the layers...very nice!

  17. Yo, Vin. Iffen you and darlin' Nancy decide to head down to Tucson in February/March to catch Taylor, I might be persuaded to hook up with y'all.

  18. STARR: Exactly, and not as tertiary as the Palin's connection to the AIP

    TUG: Thanks..appreciate it

SONGBIRD: LOL IF we do, you will be the first to know.

  19. TopChamp Says:
  20. Your politics is just rubbish.

I can't wait to find out what happens in the end - this election stuff feels like it's been going on for so long!

    Love the photo.

  21. Meribah Says:
  22. The smear campaigns say a lot about the candidates. Unfortunately, the fact that smear campaigns work says a lot more about the voters....:(

  23. TOPCHAMP: NO, our politics are the best in the world, allowing each and every citizen the ability to get involved. What is rubbish is when a candidate from any party uses lies and hateful statements to get a rise out of their supporters and the polls.
    Thanks on the photo.

    MERIBAH: Perfectly put...

  24. Travis Cody Says:
  25. Politics is about distorting the truth just enough to be plausible but not so far that it becomes outrageous. We have gone beyond the plausible to the outrageous now.

The remarks specifically design to incite anger, fear, and hatred are dispicable no matter who does it.

I'm glad we have a date for Taylor's next CD. I'm really looking forward to that one.

  26. TRAVIS: So very true...no matter who!
Hey you get to check out GREASE dude!

  27. John Holland Says:
  28. Good to see Taylor going in the studio to do it his own way. His last album wasn't what I was hoping for, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I thought he was capable of.

And Sarah Palin is just evil.

  29. Patti Says:
  30. "Boots a-dryin'" is a great shot, Vin! And the colors are really nice.

    Viva 1982!

    good luck in the contest

  31. BeckEye Says:
  32. Palin is a total lunatic.

  33. Ralph Says:
  34. Happily the boots dried on the embers without burning like a steak that you left on the fire too long...

  35. TopChamp Says:
  36. I know I just don't understand it. It makes absolutely no sense to me but I haven't spent time reading about their policies. The debating face to face is cool - but wouldn't work here because of the number of parties we have.

That's what I mostly find weird - that you really only have two choices. But your vote isn't the same as ours. We already have a head of state (albeit a figure-head) so the choice isn't quite the same.

How long is it til it's all over?

  37. RW Says:
  38. Boots a drying with multiple liquors.. I mean Liquids lol! Awesome shot and techniques my friend!!

  39. Julie Says:
  40. Oh great! Now my lunch isn't settling well at all. Politics! GACK!

But I really liked the boots pic!

Maybe I ate too much. But when the reading material is so interesting you don't even know how much you've eaten until it's gone.....**sigh**

  41. JOHN: Anxious to see what Taylor does...
    Evil, I think yes

    PATTI: Thanks.

BECKEYE: Many problems with ehr I have

    RALPH: LOL...we didn't eat them...nope

TOPCHAMP: Well there are more than two parties, but the others do not get the same press

    ROGER: Thanks dude

JULIE: Sorry about ruining your lunch!

  42. Enigma Says:
  43. Wet boots? Bad news....

Here's to ingenuity! And great photography! Good luck in the contest!

  44. Anonymous Says:
  45. Sorry for catching up so late, Vinny!

That is the best capture ever! I'd love to have those boots as desktop wallpaper :-)
