Make sure you do not miss the BIG NEWS at the end of this post!
Have a good weekend? We had some baseball with Peter on Saturday and Sunday. A new team with an excellent coaching staff. Two brothers who do as much talking as they do on-field instruction. Working on basics...always giving advice.
They are playing in a wood bat tournament - PURE baseball! The team is struggling overall with their hitting, but the defense has been very good. Before Sunday's games, they have lost two.

Part of my history ends on Sunday. The last regular season game will be played at Yankee Stadium. ESPN is doing a 7-hour retrospective look at the 'Ballpark In The Bronx' and I will be TiVo'ing it. Then go in, drop the commercials and burn it to a DVD for history.
It is not only the baseball stadium to host the most post-season baseball games, after this year players will not run out to their positions and feel the presence of Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Roger Maris, Thurman Munson, Moose Skowron, Graig Nettles, Billy Martin, Whitey Ford, Phil Rizzuto and so many more lurking in the grass and dirt.
But remember...
I thought about it and it would be so cool to have the awning that covers the Yankee Bullpen with the blue and white stripes and the New York Yankees on the front (yeah, it would be nicer without the Adidas logo) on a patio in my backyard (presuming I HAD a backyard!)...
We are planning a post about our trips to the stadium over the years.

But remember...
- Four Popes have said Mass at Yankee Stadium...
- Arguably the best NFL game ever played took place on December 28, 1958 - the stunning 23 -17 win by the Baltimore Colts over the NY Giants in overtime.
- From 1925 - 1947 the Notre Dame/Army football game was held in Yankee Stadium and it was at the Stadium that Knute Rockne gave his 'Win one for the Gipper' speech.
- From 1971 until 1987 the Whitney M. Young Urban League Classic, a game between historically black colleges, often featuring Grambling State University of Louisiana, was held at Yankee Stadium each year.
- The first concert ever held there was an ensemble R&B show on June 21, 1969, put together by the Isley Brothers; the first rock concert held at the stadium was on June 22, 1990, by Billy Joel.
- U2 played at Yankee Stadium during their ZOOTV tour in 1992, Pink Floyd played two concerts at Yankee Stadium also in 1992.
- From the 1923 opening through 2007, the Stadium played host to 37 of the 85 World Series, with the Yankees winning 26 of them.

Two weeks ago I received an advanced copy of the new AC/DC DVD No Bull - The Director's Cut. From the July 1996 Plaza De Toros De Las Ventas concert in Madrid, Spain.
I did not get a chance to review it until the other day and let me tell you it is terrific. The DVD is remixed in Stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound and features more than two hours of classic AC/DC music and bonus features, including "Angus-cam" songs putting you right on stage and 2 rare performances from the “Ballbreaker” tour.
The band consists of Angus Young – lead guitar; Malcolm Young – rhythm guitar, backing vocals; Brian Johnson – lead vocals; Malcolm Young – rhythm guitar, backing vocals and Phil Rudd – drums, percussion, and they are all at the top of their skills.
I have never seen AC/DC live, so this was a treat indeed.
The DVD debuted at #1 in 10 different countries. The United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, France. It debuted at #3 in Belgium and #4 in Austria and the UK. Pretty impressive stuff IMHO.

You wanna know why I need an AC/DC DVD? Because I can't download any of their tunes on iTunes! They're not freakin' available!!!!!!
I understand that nostalgia. I felt it when my beloved Monteal Forum would no longer be the home of the Habs.
Where The Rocket weaved his magic. And The Démon Blond enthralled the crowds.
It's sad when we lose these historical places....
YAY for AC/DC - one of my favorite bands... they remind me of my young days *g*.
I absolutely LOVE Highway to Hell. Who doesn't? But my favorite song is Stiff upper lip. Oh... and Back in black... and Hells Bells. Well, okay. I love them all.
The No Bull DVD... WOW! That's a generous gift. I could tell you a thousand reasons why I deserve this fantastic prize, but since I got this DVD as a birthday present I won't. Good luck to all the others. I'm sure the winner will have lots of fun with the fun prize!

SONGBIRD: See, now a reason I can understand
ANNDI: A very sad day...but as Yogi said..."the memories will live in my heart"
SANNI: OOO nice present...congrats
NPI: Looking forward to the concert...Glad you had a good weekend...
Schmoop gets really horny when she hears, "You Shook Me All Night Long". I'm always happy to oblige. Cheers!!
The best part of an AC/DC concert is the giant inflatable sex doll they float over the crowd during Whole Lotta Rosie =)
Why do *I* need the DVD? Cause my dad would frickin love it. I see they are not coming to portland the bastages so this would be as close as I could get to taking him!
There has been some discussion in my house of attending the October 30th concert with the 12 and 13 year old who are both HUGE fans! I'll give you a review of the show should we make it!
I forfeit a chance for the DVD to those who are bigger fans. Yes I know - I'm a musical heathen!
My son and I were literally crying watching the game. The cool thing is we then had a fun, raucous, wonderful time reliving all the times I took him there. He met all the late 70s and 80s players - before he got too old/cool to be with Mom. It is wonderful when you have a moment where you fully realize and feel that you did something good as a parent and that you made your kid happy.
There's going to be a ceremony in November I think - I have to get there before and take a million photos.
While I'm not one of these people who fear change or progress, I do hate to see all the great old sports stadiums go away. It all started with the corporate naming rights to the stadiums and they lost all of their cool names that actually told us something about the city or the people there. Now they have names like "US Cellular Field" or some crap like that. No character at all.
--
I deserve the AC/DC DVD because the first private lap dance I ever got was from a smoking hot Latina to "Body Talk" by AC/DC. ;-)
Hi Bond! I am WAY backlogged from vacation, but wanted to stop by to say hello.
So, Hello!
Hmm, I deserve the prize because their first show on your list is in my town. Wilkes-Barre is the town I work in and 20 minutes from home. lol.
JK. I am not much of a rock fan, but there have been a few from my high school days that I remember from this band.
Wooden bats? They are playing with wooden bats? Now that is my kind of baseball.
MATT-MAN: Play it loud, play it proud
STARRLIGHT: OOO a daughter/father plea...LOL
DANA: Would love a review..thanks
DIANNE: LOL musical heathen...I love all music....Was a wonderful evening of old favs and new players making some noise...they could not lose that game...Hundreds of photos
JAY: I am so happy it will just be Yankee Stadium at least..
OOOO a patron/lap dancer story...I have a soft heart for those
MAGS: Welcome back
STAR: You should get some tickets and go relive your HS days!
I have XM in the car. I'm looking forward to getting the expanded lineup so I can listen to to Howard Stern again.
Yesterday was most definitely a Yankee day. I watched ESPN for all of it, including the game, while talking to my daughter (also watching it) off and on, and texting my brother WHO WAS THERE for the whole final series...
RIP House that Ruth built.
*sigh*
My brother is VERY interested in a piece of the history also - maybe a seat - so if you have an insider info, it would be GREATLY appreciated if you'd send it on.
One of my few regrets is that I never made it back east to a game at Yankee Stadium.
Hey if you let me win it, I will award you #1 again "NOT" lol! Whoever you chose will be very deserving of winning it, although a fan I have every album and they made, so I guess I'm gonna ride onnnn ride onnnn ride onnnn! ;D
I should probably go see Yankee Stadium before it's gone but I really don't care that much. Also, I hate AC/DC. Sorry to spit on all your loves today. :)
Man oh man I would love to have that. If I don't win it I will buy it. Sooo much sweeter to receive it from you. Thanks for the tip. The 27th is my anniversary, 24 years and my hubby at 49 and 3/4 years old, wears an AC/DC t-shirt currently. I can use it to soothe his bunchy feathers when he learns I've given my address out to Dana for my prize. Wont that be a hoot when he learns I gave it out twice, HA!
Nice tribute to Sunday night. It was great to see Bernie Williams back. Cool info on that AC/DC channel...
