Goodbye George & The Last Patriot

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Sad news yesterday with the passing of Mr. George Carlin. Many folks posted notices on their blogs proving just how much of an influence he was on a generation of people.

Thank you Sir for years of laughter. Your words and thoughts will live on for generations to come.

How would the world be changed and specifically the Islamic Religion, if lost chapters of the Quran were found that showed the Prophet Mohammad had renounced hatred and violence against those who did not practice his Religion?

What if Mohammad shared these revelations with his closest followers and within days was assassinated?

What would the reaction be if it were learned that the U.S. Minister to France, Thomas Jefferson uncovered these truths?

What if today, mounds of parchment and pages of Arabic text had been found and they seem to be some of the earliest writings of the Quran known to exist and these revelations were contained within those pages?

What happens when Scot Harvath, the hero of Brad Thor's collection of books, who was trying to leave the world of fighting terrorism for the US Government behind and find peace with his new love, becomes entangled in this plot just because he vacationed in the wrong city at the wrong time?

What would Muslim fanatics do to keep this information secret, knowing it could turn the tide against them around the world?

What would the US Government do to find these secrets and announce them to the world in the hope of defeating the fanatics?

If you enjoy heart-pounding adventure and a chase that encircles the globe, then "The Last Patriot" is the one book you want to pick up for your summer reading.

The writer Nelson Demille calls Scot Harvath the "perfect all American hero for the post September 11th world."

I was introduced to Brad Thor only a year ago and have already read his entire collection. I was privileged to receive an advanced readers copy of his newest adventure and was immediately transported into this incredible story. I did not put the book down until I reached the last page.

Using known facts, Thor crafts an incredibly believable tale.

Thomas Jefferson was deeply involved in trying to negotiate peace treaties with the Barbary Nations during his time as Minister to France and studied the Muslim religion, even owning a copy of the Quran (used by Congressman Keith Ellison when he was sworn into office).

That Muslims who are fanatical about taking over the world for their Religion, believe that Islam "was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Quran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise."

The story unfolds quickly and when I was done I actually had to research to find how much was fiction and how much fact.

I could tell more of the thriller, but then you would not have the pleasure of being swept up in the tale Mr. Thor weaves.

The book is out on July 1st...I suggest you buy a copy, find a comfortable place in your home or on the beach or by your pool, turn off your cell phone and enjoy.

This one is definitely worth your time.

Now stop by the Radio Happy Hour tonight at 9:00 pm Eastern as Doc, Dangerous and I speak with Mr. Thor about this book and how his life has changed since he wrote it.

Radio Jesus and Dangerous Lee welcome Radio Happy Hour favorite and New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor in what could end up being his last interview ever.

Ever since this winter, when word leaked out that Thor’s new thriller, The Last Patriot, included a storyline that describes a missing portion of the Quran, the writer has received numerous death threats.

We’ll find out why he’s gone through with the publication, what precaution he and his family are taking and whether he’s finished any more books in case he’s assassinated while on tour.

Also this week, actor Daren Kagasoff stops by to discuss his new show. ABC Family’s “Secret Life of the American Teenager” debuts on July 1st and co stars Molly Ringwald, Josie Bisset, and former RHH guest Francia Raisa.

  46. Am awaiting an email from my library on the Thor book. It's gotten good reviews (not that that always matters, of course!). I'm also enjoying this thriller, Death in Small Doses. It's got lots of action, political extremists and great clashes between the forces of good and evil. The author takes readers on a great journey.
