This Made Me Shake My Head...
Pat Riley is doing it again...stepping down as coach of the Miami heat that is...
Riley is one of those coaches that thinks he is a genius or something. His career has been succesful, not because of him, but because of the players he has been surrounded by. In 1982 he was named the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers after their star player, Magic Johnson, balked at playing for then coach Paul Westhead. With a team of superstars Riley garnered 4 Championship rings in 7 years. And he owns the copyright on the phrase "Three-peat"...
Then he had two down years and bolted the team. He took a job as the coach for the NY Knicks, but could only get them to the finals once in 5 years...so again he bolted.
He immediately took a job as head coach of the Miami Heat. Eight seasons of hardly getting past the first round of the playoffs made Riley step down as coach and keeping the President title. Under Stan Van Gundy, the team had two great seasons and looked on the verge of success...SO! Riley fires Van Gundy and takes over the coaching spot. (Granted, Riley, as president of the club, made some good draft picks and trades.)
The next season they win the Championship and Riley is a 'genius' once more...now two sub-par years and Riley has stepped down again.
Watch...if the Heat get good again, this guy will come walking in once more and take over the team.
Annie Liebowitz took some pictures of Miley Cyrus for Vanity Fair Magazine with the minor wrapped only in a blanket. There is a furor over these pictures. Vanity Fair issued a statement saying her parents and 'handlers' were there and saw all the pictures and approved them.
I love Annie L. she is a true genius...do these pictures go too far? First glance, I have to say that putting a minor in nothing more than a blanket is going too far.
Second glance, same thing...
Final thought, if her parent and 'handlers' think this is a good thing for a 15-year old, they need to be locked in a room with information on Britney and Lindsey and redefine the parameters they are setting for this young woman.
Roger Clemens has been 'good friends' with country singer Mindy McCready - HEY DARLIN' NANCY...who is she???
Seems this friendship has been going on since Ms. McCready was 15 years old!
Clemens' lawyer, Rusty Hardin, (this guy is earning his money I think!) confirmed a long-term relationship but told the newspaper it was not sexual.
"He flatly denies having had any kind of an inappropriate relationship with her," Hardin said. "He's considered her a close family friend. ... He has never had a sexual relationship with her."
McCready's lawyer, Lee Ofman, said he did not have any comment on the Daily News story.
Clemens was 28 and a married father of two when he first met McCready, the newspaper reported.
Ummm...what exactly do a 28-year old and a 15-year old have in common? huh?
According to sources, Clemens was with his Red Sox teammates in a Fort Myers, Fla., bar when then-teenager McCready caught his eye. After Clemens threw a shirt with his and several teammates' signatures on-stage, (is he like a teenage girl or what? man the more I hear about this guy...) an introduction was made.
"It was love at first sight, no doubt about it," said a source with intimate knowledge of the relationship.
Yup...this is the world we live in folks...Those Things Made Me Shake My Head......
Still trying to figure out how to get music on here but it looks like it might mean having to find a new host.
Use it as an audio player, we just threw in some photos to make it more visual.
Right before we see Keb' Mo' on Friday, we will have the extreme pleasure to see this gentleman. Charlie Musselwhite. If you have not heard him blow the harp, sit back and enjoy...well, if you are at work, maybe you can't sit back, but you can listen...
I think Billy Ray and his wife, if they had indeed been present during the photo shoot, should have a lobotomy. WTF was he thinking?
Oh, and wasn't Mindy McCready the one who was engaged to the actor Dean Cain (of Lois and Clark fame)? She suffers from a drinking problem, IIRC.
I've no idea about sports... so obviously I'll gloss over that bit.
Hannah Montana? Sounds a bit dodgy.
15 and 28... but if it's not sexual...??
Clemens evidently wanted to put his Rocket into Statutory Orbit. Cheers Vinny!!
Vinny, I thought the very same thing about the pictures of Miley. (parenting aside) I thought they showed the vulnerability and an innocence of her age. Plus, what teenager under the age of 16 reads Vanity Fair? Not their usual demographic I'd imagine.
SONGBIRD: Not sure if that is who she is, I take your word...Yes, she does have some drinking problems
TOPCHAMP: made me shake my head...
MATT-MAN: badda bing ...
KB: Yes, they showed her innocence...that is true...just not sure it is right at 15
I am shaking my head with ya Vin. Whoa wait that didn't sound right lol.
ROGER: Tht's OK, I understood!
Riley was in the right place at the right time with the Lakers, and he was able to get three HOF legends to play within a team concept to win those championships. I don't think he's a genius and I do think he's an opportunist, but I also think he deserves some credit for achieving those rings.
If I were the parent of a 15 year old child, there is NO WAY I would ever allow that kind of photograph to be taken. She's a child and she deserves better protection from her parents and any other adult. I don't care if she's a big star playing an adult game. She's still a child and it is NEVER appropriate to make public naked pictures of a child...that's a crime!
Didn't have time to check the music. I'll have to listen later.
TRAVIS: OK, I can see he gets some credit...but not that much! Well she was never naked...She was wrapped in a blanket and from what i saw there was nothing risque
I think you will like the music.
Give credit where due and call a spade a spade.
Look this girl is not '15' in the sense that you and I understand 15.
Same as before---that kind of 16 is not 16--I guess he thought he was Elvis;-)
Will have to catch the tunes later sugar.
TURNBABY: I agree she is not '15' as we see it, but shouldn't her mom and dad see her as such?
Pat Riley has gotten a lot of credit for basically having great players. You are right on that. I think the Heat's ownership should tell him he will not be the head coach again - especially if the team starts doing well.
I agree on the Miley Cyrus/Vanity Fair thing, as you know. The parents and "handlers" are responsible - but so is the photographer and the magazine who thought such a photo of a 15-year-old was appropriate.
And Roger Clemens? It just keeps getting worse for him. And he has no one to blame but himself.
Miley's parents saw the photo's as they were digital. So yeah Vanity Fair and Annie made a crap decision.
But they are NOT the parents and I am sorry but if someone is using your child to make a buck in an inappropriate manner and YOU don't stop it, then you are the problem.
Of course Billy Ray also got in the mag in some seriously creepy father daughter poses. Just yuck.
I've got to disagree with you (sorry) on the Annie Liebowitz photos of Miley Cyrus. She'd have more exposure if she were wearing a conservative swimsuit! I think this has more to do with people's (said generally) perception of what the photo means than anything else.
RWA: My feeling exactly...
Roger is setting himself up for a big fall
STARRLIGHT: See I am not so sure it was VF and A.L. who are wrong here. A.L. has a reputation for pushing the envelope and again, I love her stuff...the parents are the ones to say No..and I had not seen the B.R.C. and daughter pic until you mentioned it and it is a tad creepy
DANA: This is true...and a very good point.
Miami is such a bad sports town..I can't explain it. but it is..
You know how I feel about Miley and the whole Cyrus clan..yeah I'm shakin my head too.
I had to look up Mindy McCready ..I didn't know who she was..she's a wreck..no doubt from being seduced by a GROWN MAN when she was 15..SHAME ON YOU ROGER CLEMENS!!
Once again, excellent tuneage Bond..
Have a great day!
HUGS!!
LEELEE: WHo knows if she is a wreck due to Clemens or not...I gather we might find that out soon..
FINALLY..Someone commented on the tuneage!
Roger has been around alot of stuff and never actually done anything...acording to him. He's been around people who supplied steroids to the entire sports world, but not to him. They supplied them to his wife with his knowledge, but not to him. He's known and had a "relationship" with Mindy Mcready since she was a minor, but nothing has ever happened? OK, maybe not early on.
I don't know, this whole think just smells "not" funny to me.
I have no ideal what Billy Ray and his wife were thinking. He's been in the entertainment business long enough to know better than to allow any photos that even remotely resemble inappropriate to be taken of his daughter!
The tunage doesn't need a comment. I just leaves ya speechless!! As long as you're willing to share this stuff. I'm willing to listen!
DRILLERAA: LOL...gee you have Roger down to a "T"...well did you see the 'intimate' picture Billy Ray took with his daughter?
And THANK YOU Driller...That was an amazing comment on the tuneage. And I plan on continuing to share!
I'd say your assessments of Riley and Clemmons are right on target.
As a mom of a ten year old girl, I tend to view that picture and the reaction it's getting the same way Dana does.
It says a whole hell of a lot more about our society that it's interpreted in a sexual manner than it does about VF and Annie...
The father and daughter pic is WAY creepier.
Young girls are faced with the wrong message continually, about sex, about their bodies...
About older men and young - VERY young women... we've changed over time, but it used to be, young girls that age were getting hitched and having babies. And very often to older men. I suppose the change didn't register in some men's hormone levels.
That being said.. a creep like Clemens comes any where near my daughter at the same age as the McCreary girl and I'll take his head off with a hockey stick.
BUD: TY Sir
ANNDI: I keep looking at the pictures and I agree with Dana and yourself that they are not totally scandalous.
We certainly have changed over time with marriage not happening at such a young age - then again that group in Texas doesn't seem to think so either.
I just got an error. Did you get my comment?
;-(
TUG: ummm NOPE
DANGIT. Let me try this again.
I can totally see Miley going down the Britney route...I hope I'm wrong, but she's working on it. The pics with her dad were ick, but did you see the ones of Hulk Hogan rubbing suntan lotion on HIS daughter? O.M.G. ewwwwwwww. sick & wrong.
The Clemens thing just bugs me - I'm trying to wrap my head around it, and I can't.
(I'm copying this just in case I need to try again - live & learn)
TUG: YAY! It worked...I have not seen the H.H. pictures...but that just sounds wrong too...I am clueless on the Clemens thing, I really am.
Miami Heat - that basketball, right Vinny? As Travis will tell you I know next to nothing about basketball especially College basketball... Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting though!
Miley's picture is beautiful until you remember that she is a 15 YEAR OLD WITH HER TOP OFF WRAPPED IN A BED SHEET! Sheesh! But, sex sells, even in a Disney world I reckon...
If you know anything about country music, you know that Mindy McCready is county music's Britney Spears. Even I was surprised by that announcement though.
And I meant to add...awesome harp blowing there.
Told ya it was creepy.
OH! check this out. Speaking of the Jimi Wang!
Jimi
TEACH: LOL...yup basketball
DANA: LOL...no I did not know that about Mindy... bwahahahahahaha
GLAD you enjoyed it...he is amazing..can not wait for Friday
STARRLIGHT: OH yeah you were
STARRLIGHT: OH YEAH I saw that! I figured maybe you could watch it and tell us if it 'measures up' (since you saw the cast ....)
trying to catch up and can't read all the comments...
I love Pat Riley. He is a genius and a hottie.
I love Charlie Musselwhite. Also a genius.
It sounds to me like the VF photo spread came out differently than it appeared during shooting.
Clemens has been lying all year.
geez I missed your posts...smile.
KATHERINE: Again...we have different opinions on a sports figure - smile
THANK YOU for the nice words
