Photo Shop Wednesday

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, April 09, 2008

So we have been remiss in doing all of the Delta Blues Series of Tuneage Tutelage we had promised. Just with the old computer going down and then getting the new one and transferring and life and well...laziness, it just has not happened

We are going to take some time and do one for all y'all for early next week...

So we got home last night and sat down to write this post...we glanced over at the old iMac and on the screen was this picture we shared with you just recently:

Well, we got distracted, as kinda happens from time to time...well...sometimes...maybe more like often...and we began to play...First we darkened the sky as a whole:

Yup...it looked better, but we kept fiddling and adding some color and darkening some interior areas and this is what we had:

Then we enhanced the fireworks bursts...what do you think?

Well then, you know what happened? We opened this photo:

We said we would go gray scale with it:

eeeeh...nothing special. Guess we could have played with the density and curves, but...

We talked about going outside of nature...not sure this is complete, but the Radio Show was coming on and we had not done a thing around the apartment in days...so this is what we ended up with...kinda like it...how 'bout you?

The sound is a bit muffled on this, but it has always been one of our favorite Jefferson Airplane songs. This was performed at the Family Dog at the Great Highway in San Francisco, CA on 6/13/69. "Good Shepard"...

ENJOY....

29 Of Your Sparks

  1. Surrealistic Stump! How perfect was Airplane after that acid trip stump?!!?

  2. The fireworks look good, but I think the tree stump in B&W looks incredible. Dead wood and bare trees look marvelous in B&W.

  3. Liz Hill Says:
  4. I think playing around with the pics is fun but I really liked both original photos---kinda like vinyl over CDs.

    Smooch

  5. Schmoop Says:
  6. Ahhhhhh. I love fireworks. I actually like the grayscale pic Vin. Cheers!!

  7. Sparky Duck Says:
  8. The pyschadelic stump is a winner. Why does that sound illegal?

  9. Travis Cody Says:
  10. Very cool with the photos. This makes me want to start on my photo project. But there's still so much music to do first.

And then there's so much organizing to do in the office to even clear enough space to work.

Then there's the new PC I want to get.

And and and...I know there's some more excuses out there somewhere.

    Bwahahahahahahaa

  11. STARRLIGHT: Well..that is why we were led to the Airplane...nice pick-up

SONGBIRD: TY and the more I look the more I like - though I might want to make the B/W more dramatic

TURNBABY: OK..I really thought the fireworks were too blah...the trunk I like the original too

    MATT-MAN: Another vote for grayscale

SPARKY: Not sure, did you try and smoke it?

TRAVIS: Well as I was doing this, I was converting vinyl...

  12. Anndi Says:
  13. I tend to agree with Turnbaby... Plus that stump looks like it lives in a radioactive swamp now and that's creepy.

Oh, and poo, I can't get the tuneage to play...

  14. ANNDI: But I like radioactivity...hehehe...yes it seems lifelogger is not playing come back later

  15. Mia Says:
  16. Those are cool...I like the stump, in color, it makes it really abstracty. (lol is that a word?)

  17. BeckEye Says:
  18. I downloaded a free 30-day trial of Photoshop recently and I'm loving it. I don't think I'll be able to give it up...so I'll have to spend the bucks to keep it.

  19. MIRANDA; I am wondering if those that like the stump experimented in their younger days! LOL

  20. BECKEYE: It is quite addictive...and worth all the pennies it cost

  21. Kb Says:
  22. I am jealous! I want to learn to use photo shop too.

  23. DrillerAA Says:
  24. I do like the fireworks.
The trunk has endless possibilities. Maybe go back to B&W, add contrast then start playing with filters like pen & ink etc. I think you will find a really cool one in there somewhere. I did it to a photo of a little aluminum boat on a lake and it really turned out pretty nice. I may have to post it in a day or so. This give me a couple of ideas for future posts. Something besides the grandkids. I like looking at them, but it gets tiresome for those who stop by the blog...both of my readers.

  25. DRILLERAA: Yes, that was where my brain was going on the trunk...some of the filters that photo shop offers could make that fun...

  26. Julie Says:
  27. Ooooh fun stuff. Sara goes crazy with digital manipulation. Yeah...we giggle when she says that too!

    Bwahahaahhaaa~!

  28. JULIE: Personally I like my manipulation to be manual...hehehee

  29. Tug Says:
  30. Yeah, I think I'm with Turn, too, but the radioactive stump is kinda cool. I'm in a bit of a sepia mood myself.

  31. Mimi Lenox Says:
  32. The enhanced colors are groovy.

  33. TUG: OK, it is interesting how the group is divided

  34. katherine. Says:
  35. no time to read all the comments...but I still like those two photos....

  36. MIMI: Another psychedelic lover in 'da house

  37. KATHERINE: Well missy, next time, make some time! LOL

  38. Ken Says:
  39. I love what came from playing with the fireworks pic, but the stump had my attention as an original!

  40. RW Says:
  41. Hey are you trying to upstage me Vin lol! Very cool variations!!

  42. MICKEY:Thanks for your thoughts...interesting the variation of thoughts

ROGER: No dude..but you have inspired me to get back to it...and grab all my slides of NYC and dust em off and scan them...

  43. Unknown Says:
  44. I really need to get Photoshop...

  45. DANA: It is expensive though
