Hey all...short and sweet today...
Flew into Minneapolis with the client and drove up to St. Cloud...
Freakin cold...single digits...due to the forecast for snow and combined with our only other option being a PT Cruiser (which we despise driving), we upgraded to a Lexus GX...OH man...what an incredible car to drive!
Did the dinner thing and got back in time to jump over to the Radio Happy Hour where we interrogated Doc on his current dating situations..tune in next week when we ask him about his date this Saturday...
Going to give you two more versions of "All Along The Watchtower"...thought we had the Dave Mason version mentioned by Teamster in our comments area, but it is not uploaded, so...
First, from his newest album Dylanesque...Mr. Bryan Ferry
* Bryan Ferry (vocals, harmonica, Farfisa)
* Brian Eno ("electronics")
* Robin Trower (guitar)
* Warren Ellis (strings)
* Colin Good (piano)
* Anthony Pleeth
and the original...Mr. Bob Dylan....(gee we could have done a Tuneage Tutelage Poll on this...OH WELL!)
Have an early press approval, so hitting the sack...
OH and thanks for all of your responses to our question about links...some interesting comments were posted...We have the best GUESTS on The Couch...
Finally...we have added a new link over near the top of our right sidebar which will link you to where you can join the National Marrow Donor Program Registry...Save a Life!
Psst...U2 did a version of Watchtower too ;)
That said, I ADORE Brian Ferry. Roxy is one of my all time favorite bands. Check out 2HB and Virgina Plain if you are not familiar with their older stuff from the Eno days.
I love Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music as well. Enjoy the Minnesota weather Vinny. Cheers!!
Yes, U2 did an interesting version. I believe it's on their "Rattle and Hum" album.
And Bryan Ferry is fantastic. Unfortunately, I didn't know about "Dylanesque" - until now. I'm off to try and track a copy down.
Not sure if blogger ate my comment but I'll go on record as saying.. I have a crush on Bryan Ferry.
Hmmm...I think Blogger ate my comment, too. I sent a rather lengthy one last night; I guess it's lost in space.
I mentioned that I love U2's All Along the Watchtower which is on Rattle and Hum. Funny how I just mentioned that movie in my comment on your previous post. Wasn't aware of this Bryan Ferry version, but with Eno involved, as well as Robin Trower, it sure was worth a listen.
Hope you don't/didn't freeze your tuchus off in MN. Blech. I hate Minnesota in winter.
I think PT Cruisers are really stupid looking, but I ended up getting one when I rented a car once and I loved driving it. It seemed like I was up high and could see the road really well. Plus, it was bright blue and I felt like a pimp.
stay warm, Vinny. Let me know if you'd like me to send our weatherman up there to help keep you warm.
I love Bryan Ferry and Dylan... great versions of a great song :-)
I was gonna mention the U2 version but I'm beaten to the punch.
Thanks for the link.
And my irony was I had the Hendrix version hit my iPod as I hit your post. Travel well, my friend!
what's the rest of the album like? Please don't be offended - but having the original here to directly compare the two Mr Ferry's seems unnecessary to me. I suppose he has done his thing with it though... was just thinking that I didn't understand covers unless you were making improvements or doing a new take on it.
Yup U2 pops into my head too. Okay Mr. Vinny.....i'm going to uncover from the snuggles of my down comforter to get my headphones.
Just for you! Okay, okay....for me! I love this song!
Wah! The sound isn't working!
hey HEY HEY
I LOVE MargoRita (my PT Cruiser).
Be NICE. **shakes finger**
;-)
Waving to Bond.....waiting for the snow.
Indigo Girls did a watchtower version much much better thank U2s actually.
and who doesnt love a Lexus?
Good show last night Vin to frigging funny!! Don't freeze up there in Minasotta...Oh your mention in my post today.
ARG... I LEFT A COMMENT ANSWERING MANY OF THESE AND IT GOT EATEN
STARRLIGHT: Do not have the U2 version available now...pout
MATT-MAN: BF and Roxy are cool
RWA: We love when we can introduce music to people
ANNDI: That is 1,004,765 crushes so far hehehehe
BECKEYE: The driver's seat is too narrow and uncomfortable for me...I thought they are cool looking though
DOC: I thought we no longer had a weatherman.... heheheh
108: They made some good music
TURNBABY: Early bird gets the comment... hehehehe
BUD: OOO twilight zone music rises in the background....
TOPCHAMP: No offense taken..some honor the original by recreating it - some give it their own spin..then we, the consumers, decide how we feel...
JULIE: Hope my suggestion helped...I checked and it was working for me
TUG: No offense to your Margo dear..but the driver's seat was way too narrow for me and gave me a backache
MIMI: waves back
SPARKY: I never heard their version...many interpetations out there
ROGER: TY SIr..and the image is ....alien like...
So, not only does my first comment get eaten, now YOU totally dismiss me and not respond to my second comment.
Hmpf.
Guess I'll stop coming over here several times a day to increase your hit counter.
Sheesh.
