WELCOME TO THE MACHINE
Yes, THE COUCH is back in the land of Elvis...Flew home Thursday.
Picked up the UHaul truck and waited for Matt to get home.
We loaded the truck...took us a little over three hours...
Passed out.
Woke up Friday and headed out about 8:00am
The drive was smooth..great weather...Matt napped for a while and when he was not we caught up on his life.
He is feeling no effects from the accident...thank goodness.
Stopped just outside Knoxville, after 11 hours on the road.
Woke up and hit the road on Saturday at 7:30am
Got to Memphis about 1:00pm - gotta love the gaining of an hour going into the Central time zone.
When we passed the sign on the highway, we both watched our cell phones to watch them change back...
HEY! all that time in a truck, you look for something to do after a while!
Went to the airport to get my car. Remembered to give Matt my debit card to pay for the parking.
Forgot to give him the parking ticket!
Had to drive around the loop and he had to leave the car and run across a field to meet me as I came around again...not being able to stop due to cars behind me...we would make a good track relay team..we didn't drop the baton!
Headed to the apartment.
Grabbed a couple of subs at a local joint (sub = grinder = hoagie = hero) - then back to the apartment to unload.
That only took about an hour and a half!
Went off to Wal-Mart since we couldn't fit everything in the truck - should have gotten the 17-footer instead of the 14-footer.
Needed something for the TV and the stereo...
Came back to the apartment and then went to Corky's for dinner. Corky's is world-famous for their Bar-B-Que... Matt is a fiend for ribs and devoured his in record time. You can order and they will ship to your home...check it out HERE
Back to the apartment and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ of to bed.
Woke up on Sunday and continued some unpacking and then took Matt on the $0.05 tour of Memphis, downtown... Only had about an hour so it was ll in the car, for the most part.
- Sun Studios
- Auto Zone Park (home of the Redbirds- AAA team of the St. Louis Cardinals)
- The mighty Mississippi
- Beale Street
- FedEx Forum (Home of the NBA Grizzleys)
- Graceland
Matt got out to take a couple of cell phone pictures at Sun Studios and Graceland
Then to the airport...
Miss him already... He is already planning a road trip down with a couple of his buddies...
THE COUCH went shopping...needed food .. Going to be great to cook again. though tonight had had my doggie bag from Corky's...
About 20 boxes to go...mostly books and music...WHERE IS IT ALL GONNA GO????
Gravy Alert! A pot is being planned for next Sunday...I brought 10 cans of Plum Tomatoes imported from Italy (the only kind to use) with me, since I can not find any here.
THE COUCH apologizes to all our friends who frequent Anndi's Luggage...We gave a tutorial on how to embed videos into a blog and she obviously passed with flying colors - man she is stuffing her suitcase full!
Sorry to hear she is feeling poorly..and her little chicklet.. hope they are better by now..
THE COUCH is thrilled our friend, who needed to go to court did terrifically and the culprits were all found guilty. Lesson... NEVER mess with a woman and her child!
THE COUCH is happy for our friend Turn and her Kentucky and Marshall wins and that Jimmy Johnson now leads the RACE TO THE CHASE...don't know what that is? Ask Turn.
To our friend Sue...happy for your happiness and again, your sharing of yourself on SueAnns Silliness is incredible.
Mary is getting back to recipes...
Fred has resurfaced...
Dana had a great time at the movies
THE COUCH was part of the FRIDAY BLOG BLAST over at Cathy's Rants and Ramblins' and it appears we are getting many more views due to it. Thank you Cathy...we are still praying for your DIL, son and their baby.

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE: Composer: Roger Water
Knew you couldn't wait LOL
Thanks for the nod and hope you noticed that I have used restraint with my knowledge of how to embed videos
Welcome home dude!
And thanks for leaving the kick ass rock when you went away. I came back and listened often.
Welcome back to the great State of Tennessee.... wooooooooooooo
Ok, my take on Corky's... ummm... I think it's ok, but don't really care for it. Don't care for the Rendevous either, which is downtown.
Autozone Park... beautiful ball field...
FedEx Forum... have been to 3 Grizzlies games and FUN, FUN, FUN....
Now that you are officially "home", you will have to tell me where you are so Tony and I can come visit.
wooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Welcome home, Vinny. Sounds like you had a great trip with Matt.
Like Trav said, thanks for the great rock vids - I stopped by several times to enjoy them.
Glad the Couch is back - can't really say a day is complete without it ...
TURN: Yes, you are correct, I could not wait to post...eyelids drooping...I decided to type it up last night.
And I have noticed...now, as for OTHER people!
TRAVIS: Glad you enjoyed them ... and thanks for the re-welcome...I was so psyched to find the ABB..and there was a note that the whole concert was available, but the site would not open for me..so bummed!
DIXIE: TY TY TY...OK, so which plce do YOU like, Ms. Tennessee herself?
COC: TY TY It was a great trip...THE COUCH is back and cleaned and ready to resume
Welcome back Vin-man. Glad to hear that Matt enjoyed his "tour" of downtown Memphis.
Can you send me some of the "gravy"? Mom's is good, but I have a feeling that yours would be to die for. So PLEASE??????
From the mind of Meribah:
Glad you see you're back and settled in again, Bond. You're easily missed!
From the mind of Meribah:
Hmmm, just noticed that the little map does not show a dot where I live! I guess it doesn't count one lone puppy who lives on the edge of the world. Maybe I should come back, like, a gazillion times a day, then maybe the map thingy will get fed up and just put me on there 'cause I'm so annoying! LOL
ANGELL: I addressed this earlier...Ifa you want da gravy ya gotta come to Memphis - hehehe
MERI: Ty - sweet of you to say
MERI: Hey it isn't real accurate, I am sure you are there!

Augh--according to Your counter-- We have less than-- 21 Hrs 32 Mins 56.8 Secs--of safety, unless of course, George wins again! No offense, but the DEMOCRATS have become the "Looney Left", and I think they just kinda want to hand the U.S. over! S-C-A-R-R-Y! :o
MY REPLY:
STARBENDER: You seem to have missed the number of days just above the hours minutes and seconds on the countdown clock.
Also, George can not win again, as you are only allowed two terms in office. Thank goodness...
HOAGIES. I say hoagies. Hoagies and pop...mmmmm good stuff. Subs and sodas just aren't as good.
BECKEYE: I also say Hoagies..but not pop...LOL WELCOME TO THE COUCH!
