Welcome To THE COUCH...Sit on Down and Get Comfy..
Hoping you had a wonderful weekend and you were able to relax or get those chores done that needed doing...
THE COUCH finished unpacking..all that remains is the hanging of pictures and putting up one book shelf. When that is complete, we will take some photos for those who have asked to see the new home in Memphis.
Received an email this weekend with the schedule for Taylor Hicks for the next month or so...with the release of his debut album it appears he has become TV slut (kudos to Diana for that term!) - LOL
To those of you new to THE COUCH, yes we are a Hicks fan... first time we ever voted for any reality show.. he struck a chord with us the first time we saw him...
Hummm..was it the grey hair...the voice... the attitude...???
Actually all three...for those who dismiss him due to his AI start, please know that this young man has a great set of pipes and enough Soul to fill an ocean.

Also got a few pictures in emails and though many of you are on the same email list, this is for those who are not.
The first is a great picture of military flying. Now if I had only kept the description of who and where...but check it out:
Pretty spectacular in THE COUCH'S opinion!
Next...as the father of a 19 year old, we went through a time when Matt wanted a tattoo. We told him it was his body and that it was permanent and to think about it. Eventually, he decided not to get one. His idea was to get the astrological sign for Taurus on his shoulder blade, so nothing outrageous.
That said, how do you think the parents of this young man feel?
THE COUCH has never considered a tattoo, but if we did, it would be unobtrusive and would need to mean something to us...
We have never understood the full-body tattoos some people sport...just THE COUCH'S opinion, but different strokes for different folks as they say...
Finally for today, THE COUCH mourns the passing of another legend, JACK PALANCE. Recently we did a posting about ask.com's poll of "Men's men", which you can find HERE.
Jack Palance is one of those who should have also been added to that list!
A great actor, who many know more so for his comedic self-parody in the movie "City Slickers".
When he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, he dropped to the stage and did one-armed push-ups bringing the crowd to it's feet in hysterics and applause.
“That’s nothing, really,” he said slyly. “As far as two-handed push-ups, you can do that all night, and it doesn’t make a difference whether she’s there or not.”
That year’s Oscar host, Billy Crystal, ( who starred in the movie) turned the moment into a running joke, making increasingly outlandish remarks about Palance’s accomplishments throughout the show.
Have a great day....
Thanks for sitting on THE COUCH, hope you enjoyed your stay.

I remember when Jack Palance did that at the Oscars, he was a funny man indeed. Haha at the monkeys tattoo! If I ever get one, it would be something meaningful for me, too. And it wouldn't be that big.
Have a great week!
Thanks for the schedule. Wow, he will be here in December. I remember when Clay did the Christmas circut.
Glad you are getting settled in.
We had a 'fly over' by Blackhawk helicopters on Saturday at the game. It was a little freaky as they popped up out of nowhere from behind the opposite endzone scoreboard in a very gray and misty sky through the smoke from the flashpots on the field--- thought I could hear "Die Valkyrie"....
I have toyed with the idea of a tatoo for a while. It will be very discreet, meaningful, cool and beautiful ....unless I chicken out.
So sad about Jack Palance---but he lived his life to the fullest and gave lots of people joy.
I hear you on the tattoos, my daughter turned 18 in april, the first thing she did was go and get a tattoo. On her inner upper arm. It was4 chinese symbols. Where she put it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but, she's a dancer. Picture a dance, in a beautiful tutu, lifting up her arm...and a tattoo so ruins the effect.
Sadly, she still wants to get more.
Well, I have 2 tatoos, but they are NOTHING like those. One is on my lower back.. the other, you will have to guess where it is....
I loved Jack Palance... wonderful actor.. will truly be missed.
Sorry, I'm just getting to The Couch... thanks for the schedule... next time don't bark at me.. LMOO
I remember that Jack Palance moment. What a cool man. Did you know he understudied Marlon Brando in the Broadway production of "A Sreetcar Named Desire"? It's where he got his first big break, in fact.
Tattoos ... I've seen some works of art, and I've seen some truly tacky ones. I have nothing against them, so long as they are meaningful to the recipient.
Photos of your apartment? Yay!
BTW - my email is down again today. Stupid school server.
LIZZA: Yes, like Leslie Nielson, he went from a serious actor to a comedic one without skipping a beat. The tattoo thing struck a chord it seems.
BUSY: I actually got it from tigerlilly..but wasn't sure it got to everyone. Getting your stalker outfit together?
TURN: Sounds very cool- the flyover..love them big ole nasty copters, I do
MIRANDA: I was happy when matt decided not to...doesn't mean he won't decide to do it at some point.
ANGELL: A stick figure tattoo.. hummm interesting...no those Men's men are a lost group (well except for me and Travis!)
OK, I'm trying to catch up - it's gonna take me 4ever...tattoos and Memphis and TAYLOR - OH MY!!! Just one question: What happened to the Sunday gravy??????
HUGS!
Pia
PIA! Where have you been you naughty girl being away so long....
Gravy is made...a big old pot with meatballs and hot italian sausage... YUM had some farfella pasta last night (bow ties for those who are wondering)...
came out good... not great..I have done better
check it out! it's farfelle!!!
From the mind of Meribah:
Tattoos...not a big fan of those! Firstly, I don't like needles very much; secondly, I don't like the idea of marring my skin with something so permanent! Heck, I don't even have my ears pierced! As for those full body tattoos...yikes! I wonder what all those tattoos will look like when those peeps get old and wrinkly? LOL
ANON: check it out..I didn't check my spelling! LOLOL
MERI: They will look like old wrinkly tattoos...
Glad you are setteling in. Moving is hard work. Not a big fan of tatoos either. But, to each his own, I guess!!
Hugs, Robin
Jack Palance...seemed just an amazing man.
I've got 3 tattoos. Forget me not flower on my toe (6 friends & I all got them together), and my grandkid's footprints, names & dates of birth on my lower back. ;-)
DANA: It is a term of enndearment...
ROBIN: Thanks for the kind words...exactly - to each their own.
TUG: Now those are special with meaning and not huge and outrageous...I love the idea of the grandkids footprints...maybe someday.
I've got a tattoo...it is of a turtle holding a flower in his mouth. Originally was on my flat hip...well, 2 kids later, it now resides on a fat roll...at least he didn't stretch out...LOL
Jack Palance - loved him in City Slickers!
Tatoos - I'm to fickle.
Mr. Hicks - He's gonna be a busy man! But so glad he out there pimping his album. More Taylor! More Taylor!
