Welcome To THE COUCH...Sit on Down and Get Comfy...
Well...as you can see, we finally brought a couch in THE COUCH. Gonna keep tweaking it until I get it to where I am satisfied, but wanted to at least get what I had up.We have some new friends added to our COOL SITES TO VISIT listing on the right. DixieChick has decided to join this "blog thingy" (her words) community, with her blog DIXIE'S HEART & SOUL. MaryFly is also blogging with her RECIPES & BS blog...and it is full of ... yup, you guessed it recipes and BS... please check our friends out...
I am back from Memphis. Had a nice trip. Saw Beale Street. Never seen it? Check out THIS PAGE for a live webcam of the activity on the street. Pretty cool stuff.
Met some of the clients at ServiceMaster I would be working with and the staff for Inner Workings already on-site. Everyone was very friendly and I think the clients like what they heard from me. I even got to sit in on two meetings and MY BRAIN STILL WORKS! It has been 19 months since I have had to really use it and I was afraid it might have deserted me. But nope...I made some suggestions which they might even be using!
Now, I wait for Inner Workings to make a formal offer of employment. There are some things I have told them I need to make this move possible and I am hopeful they will see the benefits to fulfilling those needs.
Ummm.. do you think asking for a Hummer was too over the top??? LOL- kidding folks!
Yankees magic number is down to 7 after they won and the Red Sox lost yesterday. It looks more and more as if we could possibly have a repeat of the New York Subway Series - Yankees vs. Mets for the World Series. That would be a blast!
Sorry Coco, I am not explaining what a magic number is again...OK, any combination of Yankee wins or Red Sox loses equalling seven means the Yankees win the American League East title. Think Patrick Division in hockey, for you Canadians!
I am real conflicted on the stories I have been reading about the treatment of prisoners down at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. The US is using a lot of physcological treatments on the prisioners like sensory deprivation and some torture.
One side of me says, "Hey, they have beheaded our citizens and don't care or make a distinction between soldiers and civilians, so why should we show them any soft-treatment".
The other side says, "We are supposed to be better then them and all we are doing is sinking to their despicible level".
I guess if I was 100% positive all of those being treated this way were actually combatants, I would lessen my objections. But articles I am reading talk about ordinary people being turned in to the CIA in Iraq by those who have had grudges with these folks.
Someone like recently captured terrorist Khalid Sheik Mohammed I have no problem doing some forms of interrogation torture on, if it will save lives.
In our history we have always tried to stay above the line of decency. During WWII, our soldiers were horribly mistreated by their Japanese and Nazi capturers. All evidence shows that we did not reciprocate in our prison camps.
Vietnam is a little fuzzy. It would appear that the soldiers on the front of the fighting may have gone "over the top" in their dealings with the Viet Cong.
But this, what is happening today, is being supported from the very top of our military command...the Commander In Chief himself, has spoken out in support of the "any means necessary" way we are treating these prisoners. Until this past June when the Supreme Court ruled they were wrong, our military denied the basic rights aforded by the Geneva Convention to the prisioners we have taken in this "war" we are fighting in Iraq.
As I said, I am conflicted...
Thanks for sitting on THE COUCH, hope you enjoyed your stay.

Wha's a Cardinal?
Dixie: And finally... your opinion of the prisioner thing is EXACTLY why THE COUCH is here.. to discuss such thinkgs whether we agree or disagree.
Ok, I really like the couch, big as it is. Beale Street looks amazing. Memphis has always been on my short list to visit, because the music history is phenomenal! Still praying almost constantly about that job ... and the hoose - I mean, house. And finally ... you got me to understand the magic number! I think ... Say the Yankees win 3 and the Red Sox lose 4, that makes 7 and that's the magic number, right? What I don't understand is why the number changes ... And I think it's fantastic that they could win as big as the Patrick division! Wooooo! Go Mets! Um ... I mean Yankees ... (sorry - Moncton team is called the Mets - they won the Canadian championship again this year, btw!) Oh yeah ... what's a Cardinal? Besides a messy, smelly, noisy nuisance of a bird, that is ...
*tacklehugs Bond* thanks for mentioning my blog thingy!
and by the way, I too have everything crossed! No worries though, this is your time!!
