There was a movie with John Candy (actually his last movie and not a very good one either) called CANADIAN BACON - in the movie the US begins a war with Canada just to up the President popularity. I think that if I do not post some pictures of guys on skates today Canada could attack the USA...led by Commander Anndi... sheesh... make one little statement about posting some pictures and then because of work you don't do so and now I get a message every 10 minutes threatening horrible things! (OK, maybe that is an exaggeration--but check out all her comments on yesterday's post). So, without further ado...here are guys on skates playing with a piece of hard rubber on frozen water...
RON DUGUAY
He was a "hottie" when he played...the females lovvvvved him!
Kick save ... and a beauty - eh
Ah... the gentleness of the game...
PLAY AROUND THE NET
Islander's #10 shot and this shows the rebound from the goalie save
Ranger "enforcer" You threaten a player...it is his job to retaliate
STICK SAVE
"JD" making a kick save while falling backward
One of the all-time greats of the game
Many have responded to my threat of cutting them out of the will. For those of you not understanding, there was one of those "Get To Know Me" emails going around and one of the questions was "Which 4 websites do you visit every day?" and only ONE PERSON answered with bondsbigleathercouch.blogspot.com as one of the answers. Thanks TurnBerry for your support. I told the others they were all out of my will and had no chance at being awarded some of the incredible things in my will - like my 800+ Rolling Stone Magazine covers. Knowing that, many are trying to get back into my good graces! Enjoy the weekend folks.. be safe...
Remember .. Nets For Malaria - UNFoundation.org/malaria - find the big SI's Nothing But Net logo ... Or call 202.887.9040. Every cent goes to buying nets to place over the beds of children in Africa to stomp out Malaria. PLEASE HELP.
Keep that spark of insanity kids...It helps keep you an individual.
I have a complaint. You put up hockey pictures, but don't put up any Messier, or Gretzy?
I'm done complaing..
more baseball please.
WOOOOOOOO
I made the title!!
Proud to be a loyal reader. Unlike some others lol.
Dearest Vince... who knew I was so good at fishing, you're an easy catch! hehehe!
Here goes: Beating the Soviets was not a MIRACLE. It wasn't the first time...the US won Gold in Squaw Valley, with the Canadian team winning silver and the Soviets earning a bronze.
It was a testament to the superior coaching skills of M. Ross and the heartfelt dedication and sheer LOVE OF THE GREATEST SPORT ON EARTH (my reason for hounding you to keep your word sir... someone has to keep you honest!) that this group of young men captured the hearts of millions of Americans (who could only watch the game live on Canadian television).
It wasn't a miracle because those men WORKED their hockey loving behinds off! And they won the most points in the medal round.
And the Canadians? Well, they are tied with the Soviets for most gold medals won and have won the most medals overall in Olympic history. Don't get me started on the hockey supremacy debate.
Nice pictures of three great Canadian players by the way.. John Davidson, Phil Esposito and Ron Duguay! (*coughs*.. can you say hockey supremacy *coughs*).. hehehe
Ha!! Canadian Bacon.. Surrender pronto, or we'll level Toronto. Such a stereotype!
Yup.. blame Canada! eh?
So.. I'm in the title.. does this mean I'm famous.. or infamous?!
Messier and Gretzky.. ha! Canadians!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Love you more than my luggage dear..
I don't know what you're talking about but I can now leave a comment...and I brought you a giant plastic cow as a housewarming gift about 6 months too late.
Hugs!
And good at it too!!
Um ... I missed the boat on this one, I'm afraid, but wanted to thank you for the nice pictures of some great Canadian legends. Y'know, the skating pond where hockey originated is about a 2 hour drive from my house, just outside Windsor, Nova Scotia. You haveta ride on a tractor to get to it - it's out in the boonies in some farmer's field (no charge to see it, but he has to be available to drive the tractor). I've been there three times. It's quite a pilgrimage for any self-respecting hockey lover. Brings tears to my eyes every time. Not really related to your topic but, hey! It's hockey, and it's all good.
