Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, May 30, 2006

Hope youu all had a special Memorial Day Weekend. Did you march in a parade? Did you go and watch a parade? We watched the local parade which - conveniently - begins directly in front of my house. Then we went and watched the Guns & Hoses Softball game, played between the local police and fire/emergency services squads. This was the first year and was conceived to assist one of our local officer's, who is suffering from cancer. Lot of fun...

There definitely is a come down when you get into a show like American Idol. I look at the calendar and see it is Tuesday and I immediately say "Oh great, Taylor sings tonight...", but he doesn't... oh well.

Derek Jeter did get his 2,000th hit on Friday evening. The "official hit" was a little dribbler that was fielded and then thrown wide to first base. I did not think it was a hit and was sorry to see it credited as one. But Derek settled that later in the game with a solid hit.
Congrats Mr. Jeter...you are one class act and a great ballplayer.

Yes, there is a new #2 on the Home Run list for Major League Baseball. Mr. Babe Ruth is now #3 on the official list. That is the official list...not the one that I follow. On my list, it goes, 1) Mr. Hank Aaron; 2) Mr. Babe Ruth... Same as the single season list which has Mr. Roger Maris on top with 61 home runs.

Search for a new job is still moving forward, though it is still just slogging along...same as the house for sale saga...Every street I drive down now appears to have 2-3 homes for sale. Hopefully something will happen soon...hopefully...hopefully...

From the Sports Illustrated "Sign Of The Apocalypse" - Alabama football coach Mike Shula had to switch churches after being hounded by autograph seekers, including one who was waiting at the end of the communion line with a football ... folks, this is just so wrong on so many levels...

For my Dead-Head friends out there...there is a new podcast each week hosted by Missouri Professor John Henrickson. The podcast features lesser known shows, so for true Dead-heads this is a goldmine. Hosted at KOPN.org, you can find more information here.

Keep that spark of insanity kids...It helps keep you an individual.
