OK, so I have been without a full-time job for 14 months now. Downsized. Loved the position...worked for a boss who saw my strengths and how to use them. Second downsize in 5 years.
So, now I am 51 years old and feel like people are looking at my resume and saying "WOAH, OLD DUDE ALERT"... I am not old... sheesh, come look into my magic mirror...see all the black hair... only a couple of grey ones there... but even still, I am not old looking. I have a gut...sure, but it is hidden real wqell in my suits and business attire. I "clean up real well" as they say (who is they.. oh never mind).
I remember in my late 20's when there many more black then grey for real, hearing after a job interview "Well, we love your resume, but we are looking for someone with more experience"...guess what????? TA-DA ..HERE I AM FOLKS...
My salary is more, but I will save you money. I know it. I will even offer up. You offer a realistic salary. I will tell you my desired salary. Show me your costs for marketing materials for the previous three years. We will average those numbers. If I do not save the company 5% over the course of the year, I will accept my compensation. If I do save more than 5%, then you adjust my salary to my desired level.
Besides that, you just do not feel like you are "home" working as an Independent Contractor. You feel as though you are just a visitor taking up a spot until they need to move you to make room for a real employee.
Oh, yeah.. I know at this point I am the only one reading this... but NEXT WEEK is the Players Championship, not this weekend.. OH well... good plans wasted!
Time for some dinner....
Ciao...
