ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, July 08, 2009 18 Of Your Sparks

I CAN NOT BELIEVE I HEARD Ervin “Magic” Johnson, the brilliant point guard say the following words at the Michael Jackson memorial yesterday: “I can honestly say that Michael Jackson made me a better point guard…” Johnson then when on to say how by watching Michael and the way he handled himself (insert your own joke here), made Magic a better basketball player.

I was in my car during lunch, the sports radio station on, and they cut into Kobe and Magic speaking at the memorial service. Kobe said something about loving Michael's music and how talented he was...then Magic declares to the world that it was MJ all along!

Now, I am sure some of those asked to say things at the Memorial did not really know Michael and I do know that at times like this you are supposed to ‘insert’ yourself into your tribute to connect with those in the audience.

But kiddies…seriously…Magic does not have to ‘insert’ himself into any scenario EVER. He is Magic…nuff said.

Maybe he could not come up with anything to say about he and Michael…but PLEASE…Michael Jackson made Magic a better player…nah.

I guess for those who PAID to get into this memorial it was worth it. PAID???!!!! Are you kidding me? For a memorial service???

The ‘tickets’ were given away in an auction, with each winner receiving two wristbands. There are reports of offers on Craigslist for a wristband in exchange for a plane flight from the Northeast (where the winner lived) to LaLa to attend and one wristband holder decided to use this opportunity to see if he could meet a P.Y.T - "Date can respond with pic and reason why she deserves to go."

Though eBay was aggressive about stamping down auctions, it didn’t stop people from bidding upward of $15,000 for passes to Tuesday's event. AEG (the ‘show producer’ – show producer?!?!?!? - this is a freaking memorial service people…sheesh!) warned people to be on the lookout for counterfeiters and reminded people that anybody claiming to sell their e-mail confirmation code (which allows them to claim their tickets Monday at Dodger Stadium) are frauds, as the e-mail code is non-transferable and requires the ticket claimer to have proper matching ID.

Even that hasn't slowed the secondary market, as there are a handful of auctions open for the rejection e-mails sent to people who did not get tickets. The opening price for the rejection e-mail? $2.99. Wait…go back and read that last sentence…people want to own the REJECTION EMAILS!!!! That is scary. And now you can buy unused wristbands. Come on people --- puleeeaasssse!

click it to read it!

So, there are people who spent the time to send in their requests to receive these 'golden tickets' and when they do win this lottery, they decide to profit from the death of their so called 'idol'. Oh yeah baby...hero worship at its best.

And then there are those whose lives would be shattered if they were not one of the 17,500 people who could hear a stream of celebrities talk about Michael and hear Stevie Wonder play...LIVE

Now remember, 6,500 of you only get to sit in the Nokia Center next door and watch it on the big screen TV. ummmm, pssst folks, every freakin' news station broadcast it...and even ESPN cut in when Kobe and Majic spoke. ABC covered the event, so did BET, and MTV...if you are going to sit and watch on TV is it worth it to fly in from some other part of the country and spend money on flights and hotels???

And PLEASE, do not even try to get on MichaelJacksonFuneral.org, because they were so busy the servers would time out.

Can we now move on? The news has been obsessed with this and it really is tiring. And then again, here I am taking up an entire post about why I despise the fact that all I am hearing about is this Michael Jackson Memorial Service...

And I took you all along for the ride....

Tragedy Strikes In Threes...

WHOA! Ed McMahon...then within 24 hours, Farrah Fawcett and now MICHAEL JACKSON!!!!!

This one is out of left field. The other two had been ill for a period of time, so not too shocking. But MICHAEL JACKSON???

MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON
August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009

Let's for a moment, put aside his life outside music. As we all can agree, his personal life was a total shambles. Throughout his life he wavered between a bit strange and totally outrageous.

Within his music world, it is hard to argue that he was not a true genius.

Michael Joseph Jackson was born on August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana, the 7th child of 9 children born to Joseph Walter "Joe" Jackson and Katherine Esther (née Scruse).

In 1964, Jackson and his brother Marlon joined the Jackson Brothers — a band formed by brothers Jackie, Tito and Jermaine — as backup musicians playing congas and tambourine, respectively.

Jackson later began performing backup vocals and dancing; at the age of eight, he and Jermaine assumed lead vocals, and the group's name was changed to The Jackson 5. The band toured the Midwest extensively from 1966 to 1968. The band frequently performed at a string of black clubs and venues collectively known as the "chitlin' circuit", where they often opened for stripteases and other adult acts. In 1966, they won a major local talent show with renditions of Motown hits and James Brown's "I Got You (I Feel Good)", led by Michael.

The Jackson 5 signed with Motown Records in 1968. Rolling Stone magazine later described the young Michael as "a prodigy" with "overwhelming musical gifts", noting that Michael "quickly emerged as the main draw and lead singer" after he began to dance and sing with his brothers. Though Michael sang with a "child's piping voice, he danced like a grown-up hoofer and sang with the R&B/gospel inflections of Sam Cooke, James Brown, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder".

The group set a chart record when its first four singles ("I Want You Back", "ABC", "The Love You Save" and "I'll Be There") peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Starting in 1972, Jackson released a total of four solo studio albums with Motown, among them GOT TO BE THERE and BEN. These were released as part of the Jackson 5 franchise, and produced successful singles such as "Got to Be There", "Ben" and a remake of Bobby Day's "Rockin' Robin".

The group's sales began declining in 1973. Although the group scored several top 40 hits, including the top 5 disco single "Dancing Machine" and the top 20 hit "I Am Love", the Jackson 5 left Motown in 1975.

Michael Jackson and his brothers signed with CBS Records and continued to record and tour internationally. At the same time, in 1978, Michael broadened his area when he appeared as The Scarecrow in the movie THE WIZ.

While making the movie Michael and Quincy Jones (who was scoring the movie) agreed to collaborate on his next solo album.

That album was OFF THE WALL. Sometime the year Jackson released the album (1979), broke his nose during a complex dance routine. His subsequent rhinoplasty surgery was not a complete success; he complained of breathing difficulties that would affect his career. He was referred to another doctor, who performed Jackson's second rhinoplasty and other subsequent operations.

Off The Wall was a huge undertaking with songs written by Jackson and Heatwave's Rod Temperton, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney. It was the first album to generate four US top 10 hits, including the chart-topping singles "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" and "Rock with You". Off the Wall reached number three on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified for 7 million shipments in the US and eventually sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

In 1980, Jackson won three awards at the American Music Awards for his solo efforts: Favorite Soul/R&B Album, Favorite Male Soul/R&B Artist and Favorite Soul/R&B Single for "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough". That year, he also won Billboard Music Awards for Top Black Artist and Top Black Album and a Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (for "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough"). Despite its commercial success, Jackson felt Off the Wall should have made a much bigger impact, and was determined to exceed expectations with his next release. In 1980, Jackson secured the highest royalty rate in the music industry: 37% of wholesale album profit.

Off The Wall was a hit, Jackson's next album THRILLER was and is the biggest album ever released in terms of strength of songs and units sold. Here are the facts:
* Remained in Top 10 of the Billboard 200 for 80 consecutive weeks and 37 of those weeks at the #1 position.
* The first album to have seven Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles, including "Billie Jean", "Beat It", "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'", "That Girl Is Mine", "Thriller", "Human Nature" and "P.Y.T.".
* Was certified for 28 million shipments by the RIAA, giving it Double Diamond status in the US.
* It is often cited as the best-selling album of all time, with worldwide sales between 47 million and 109 million copies.

On March 25, 1983, Jackson performed live on the Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever television special, both with The Jackson 5 and on his own singing "Billie Jean". Debuting his signature dance move—the moonwalk—his performances during the event were seen by 47 million viewers during its initial airing, and drew comparisons to Elvis Presley's and The Beatles' appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show.

A five year gap ensued as Michael began to exhibit strange characteristics and his appearance began to change.

In 1987 Jackson released BAD. The album had lower sales than Thriller, but was still a substantial commercial success. In the US, it spawned seven hit singles, five of which ("I Just Can't Stop Loving You", "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Man in the Mirror" and "Dirty Diana") reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, more than any other album. As of 2008, the album sold 30 million copies worldwide, including eight million shipments in the US.

In 1988, Jackson released his first autobiography, MOON WALK, which took four years to complete. Jackson told of his childhood, his experience in The Jackson 5 and the abuse he suffered as a child.

Jackson's success resulted in his being dubbed the "King of Pop", a nickname conceived by actress and friend Elizabeth Taylor when she presented Jackson with an "Artist of the Decade" award in 1989, proclaiming him "the true king of pop, rock and soul".

Jackson released his eighth album DANGEROUS in 1991. As of 2008, Dangerous has shipped 7 million copies in the US and has sold 32 million copies worldwide; it is the most successful New Jack Swing album of all time. In the US, the album's first single "Black or White" was the album's biggest hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and remaining there for seven weeks, with similar chart performances worldwide.

Since that time there has been music, but it has not been anything of consequence and has, unfortunately been overshadowed by the accusations of being a pedophile, his financial disasters, and his marriages and the children he has left behind.

As I listen to CNN, the Jackson Family attorney/spokesman, Brian Oxman, was just interviewed and he pretty much blamed Jackson's 'handlers' for this death. He says the family has talked about the death of Jackson many times. He claims he has warned 'people' that this would happen and his warnings were ignored.

He claims Jackson was abusing prescription drugs. His rehearsals for his comeback concert reportedly were marred with the realization that Jackson could not carry a full concert in his weakened condition. And he just equated the Michael Jackson situation to the Anna Nicole Smith debacle.

Michael Jackson changed the landscape of the music industry, for good and bad. His outrageous contracts caused a burden as other acts followed suit. Would there be Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera or Britney Jean Spears without Michael?

As they mentioned on So You Think You Can Dance last evening, the John Landis video for the song "Thriller" was groundbreaking and shaped the world of music and dance/

I would have liked to have seen what Mr. Jackson could have accomplished had he not had his problems.

Our condolences go out to his three children and all those who truly loved him as a person and not as a paycheck or status button.

"Why not just tell people I'm an alien from Mars. Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They'll believe anything you say, because you're a reporter. But if I, Michael Jackson, were to say, 'I'm an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight,' people would say, 'Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He's cracked up. You can't believe a damn word that comes out of his mouth.'"

Weird Wednesday...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, March 04, 2009 17 Of Your Sparks

This whole contract negotiation with Kurt Warner has turned into the football equivalent of Manny Ramirez. Dude...sure you have some great stats, but out of your 10 seasons you have only played in more then 11 games half the time. OK, you got to the Super Bowl three times, but you only have ONE ring...

I realize that statistically, you are the second-most accurate quarterback in NFL history (trailing only Chad Pennington), with a career completion percentage of 65.7%...wait ....CHAD PENNINGTON???? Oh right, when you throw 5-yard passes, you tend to be accurate!

Do you really think you will have a better chance in San Francisco? You better like clouds because you will be on your back more than anything. Arizona has offered $20-Million for two years...$20-Million!!!!! He wants $28-Million...I just wonder what Kurt made as a stock boy? Ah...$5.50/hr.

I ask as I have asked many times...do these people know there is a scary recession going on? Do they realize that many of their fans will not be able to think about tickets for the upcoming season?

Really...how much more is $4-Million/year when you think about it on the larger scale?

So, in an effort to refinance his life Michael Jackson is planning some comeback concerts in London. The singer who was nicknamed "big nose" as a child by his father (seriously, he was!) is now known as "no nose" by the uncaring public. And what has he done to deserve this injustice?

He has never 'cut his nose to spite his face' and he has always loved little children...

ummm what?

oh yeah, maybe that is why the public does not care any longer.

His last public appearance was at the 2006 World Music Awards. He was scheduled to perform "We Are the World" but only managed a few lines before leaving the stage.

Rumors that his nose began to fall off as he reached for a high note, remain to this day, unconfirmed. Though we have found evidence that it might be true...

Many of y'all know that our most excellent friend MATT-MAN of "Bagwine Ruminations" is in the midst of his annual Lenten Fast when he eschews all meats (except fish) and sustains his life on beans and whey...Well...in an attempt to make this easier for him, we post the following picture which is sure to make him pass out for the next 20 days or so...

Yes, Rachael Ray said her mother was very upset when she stripped down for the sexy 2003 FHM photos...I would think her mom would have been more upset that it appears Rachel had hit the bong for about an hour before the picture of her sucking on that wooden spoon like it was a Quarter-pounder with cheese was taken...dang Matt, sorry about the meat reference...

Well, maybe he was napping and did not hear it....

And to celebrate the week long appearance by U2 on The David Letterman Show, we offer up this news item which will make our friend STARRLIGHT from "Here Comes A Storm In The Form OF A Girl" squeal like a teeny-bopper...

U2’s Bono did an interview on radio to promote his new CD No Line On The Horizon. But Bono seemed to have Coldplay’s Chris Martin on his mind and referred to him as a “wanker” and “cretin”.

In the radio interview, Jo Whiley asked Bono if he thought Chris Martin was as talented as Paul McCartney.

“I think he’s that good a melodist, but he’s a wanker,” was Bono’s reply.

Whiley reportedly asked Bono for an apology, but Bono just said, “I’m a reformed character, I don’t any more.”

Then to dig himself deeper, Bono said Chris Martin was “obviously a completely dysfunctional character and a cretin, but he happens to be a great melodist and up there with Ray Davies, Noel Gallagher and Paul McCartney.”

Later in the interview, seemed to rethink his rude comments and stated, “I think [Coldplay] are a great band and, actually, it turns out [Martin's] a great soul as well. Sorry about that. I was just joking entirely.”

Now now Bono...we all know you meant it ... especially since Chris Martin IS a wanker and a cretin

While on 'the rack' at the Chiropractor's on Monday, this came across my iTouch and I just had to share it. From their appearance at The Beacon Theater on March 15, 1997, this is "Blue Sky" from The Allman Brother's Band. It starts out with a bit of "Franklin's Tower", the Grateful Dead song...and then explodes into Blue Sky...

The lineup at that time was:
* Gregg Allman - organ, piano, guitar, vocals
* Dickey Betts - guitar, slide guitar, vocals
* Butch Trucks - drums, tympani
* Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson - drums, percussion
* Warren Haynes - guitar, slide guitar, vocals
* Allen Woody - bass, background vocals
* Marc Quiñones - drums, percussion, background vocals

ENJOY...

Body Parts

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, December 06, 2007 17 Of Your Sparks

So, this morning we will be at the hospital having electronic waves shot through our body so they can see my insides...pictures will be available at the end of the tour...please stay within the ropes and do not touch the furniture or artwork on the walls...

Dr. Blogstein wanted me to remind those of you who missed the show this week, that if we can capture a kidney stone we will be auctioning it off on his show in a huge prize package that will also include Michael Jackson's original nose, Vincent Van Gogh's ear, George Washington's wooden teeth and 29 little lovlies.... bwahahahahahahahahahahaha

Horrible Horrible in Omaha yesterday...we send our sympathy to those who lost loved ones to the hands of a person who was obviously not sane...

The Producers of "24" are probably not so sad over the writer's strike at the moment...and there is no truth to the report they will rename the show "48" and film the next 48 days of Kiefer Sutherland's incarceration. The spawn of Donald will be spending that time in the hoosegow after pleading guilty to drunk driving charges.

AH Keifer...it was fun when you were a "yoot" and hanging out with the rest of the "Brat Pack", but dude...you make oodles of moolah now...time for that limo when you want to go out and get your drunk on.

There is also no truth that his drink of choice is Bagwine....well...we are actually still investigating that report...we will get back to you on that....

Lifelogger is acting up tonight. We were going to feature an artist we were introduced to by a good friend, but that will have to wait until tomorrow. So we checked what was available and we are not even sure we ever used this song...

A true gem...Mr. Otis Redding...this was released in 1968 after his death and spent 4 weeks as the #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 in March of that year. The infamous Steve Cropper was the producer on this hit released on the Stax label...

Just whistle along...
