Hoping your weekend was full of new pleasant memories...still no ability to upload new music, so we are into the "repeats" season here on The Couch. We are looking into another option, suggested by our friend LeeLee...this option will cost money though and I am thinking I want to wait until we publish the new format and site home.
I spent some time on the ballfields watching my friends play, but the weather canceled other games. Great news, Lewisburg High School has moved on to the next round in the State Championship. This is a huge accomplishment for a new school with a team that includes some Juniors and mostly Sophomores. There is not one Senior on the team. Hoping they continue their run this weekend.
So, I received this note from Mom Joan and Dad Vince this weekend in the mail:

How sweet of them. So I debated whether to post these or not, knowing full well the slew of reactions which you, our most wonderful guests, will fill our comments box.
But...what the hell...
So, you all know how much I love baseball...this love has been life-long...

And there is no doubt I love music...I would dream of taking the stage to the bellowing love of thousands of fans...I even had a unique concept for outfits for the band...now maybe it was a little ahead of it's time...

And anyone who knows me knows full-well that if there is a party, I am ready to get jiggy wit' it any time...always ready to roll to a celebration...

Our most exellent friend,
Travis, came up with a meme...and I wanted to play. I asked if I could mix categories and was told I had his permission.
Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to:
1. Choose a category from one of these: Television, Stage & Screen, Nightly News, Publishing, Lives & Times, Music
2. Find 8 bits of trivia about your selected category
3. Be sure to let me know when...ok, if...you decide to play along so I can see what you come up with.
4. You may tag, or simply offer the meme for borrowing or stealing as you like.
Let's start with #4...steal away if you like, I don't tag.
And awayyyyyyyyyyyyy we go...
- The term "Jumped The Shark", means a TV show has gone too far, and it has reached it's peak with it's viewers. The term comes from the "Happy Days" episode when Fonzie took a challenge to jump a live shark while water-skiing. COUCH NOTE: You can find all kinds of "Jump The Shark" info HERE.

- Casey Kasem, the radio DJ who turned 76 yesterday, was the voice for "Shaggy" on Scooby-Doo (thanks to Dana for the Birthday info)

- Not to stay on one TV show, but arguably, "Happy Days" has the most spin-offs; Laverne and Shirley (1976–1983), Blansky's Beauties (1977), Mork & Mindy (1978–1983), Fonz and the Happy Days Gang (1980), Joanie Loves Chachi (1982–1983).

- The Los Angeles Rams were the first U.S. football team to introduce emblems on their helmets.

- In 1963, baseball pitcher Gaylord Perry remarked, "They'll put a man on the moon before I hit a home run." On July 20, 1969, a few hours after Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, Gaylord Perry hit his first, and only, home run.
- The "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" we sing at ballparks is just the chorus. There actually are two verses in which heroine Katie Casey tells her beau that she doesn’t want him to take her to a show.

- Jimi Hendrix's first major North American jaunt was as opening act for Davy, Micky, Peter and Mike - The Monkees. But did you know that when said tour hit Chicago, and the notorious "Plaster Casters" appeared backstage to, umm, immortalize each bands member(s) in clay, several myths were forever shattered when it turned out Jimi's family jewels failed to measure anywhere near up to those belonging to none other than Peter Tork!
- The first product to have a bar code was Wrigley's gum.

OK, we know you want to know what the other two verses are..
Nelly Kelly loved baseball games,
Knew the players, knew all their names,
You could see her there ev'ry day,
Shout "Hurray" when they'd play.
Her boy friend by the name of Joe
Said, "To Coney Isle, dear, let's go,"
Then Nelly started to fret and pout,
And to him I heard her shout.
"Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game."
Nelly Kelly was sure some fan,
She would root just like any man,
Told the umpire he was wrong,
All along, good and strong.
When the score was just two to two,
Nelly Kelly knew what to do,
Just to cheer up the boys she knew,
She made the game sing this song.

We will be seeing this gentleman on Friday evening in the Tennessee Lottery Blues Tent...
Mr. Keb' Mo'
ENJOY....
