The blogosphere is changing once again and NOT for the better.

JAY of "Everyday Jay", which used to be called "Cynical Ba**ard", has decided to leave his place here in the blogosphere.

Of course he will still be Tweeting (@Jayman3768) and co-hosting "I'm With Stupid" with Matt, now on Saturday's at noon, and he kind of has a Facebook page. I think he does some other social media platforms that I probably should know about, but I don't so...ask him!

But personally, I am going to miss his long form that the blog afforded.

On the other hand, coincidentally, yesterday the thought of closing down The Couch went through my brain. I think if that happened, I would spend more time on Music On The Couch and Tuneage Tutelage and maybe even Mangia Y'all.

But I do like it here...so you are stuck with me a while longer

Now, I really know why Jay made this decision...you see, just last week he announced that he had learned how to code his template to allow links to open in a new window. He had learned everything he needed to make his blog more efficient.

Women around the blogosphere are in tears tonight as the word spread like wildfire...

He may be gone from blogging but not gone from our lives...

If you have never read Jay, I would suggest you go over and check out the archives and see what you missed. Except if you read it, you really will not have missed it now, would you?

Off to NOLA tonight. Meeting best friend and his wife there. Should be a great 4 days. Will recount to y'all next week.

I will have a set for Travis' Five on Friday...hummmm wonder what the theme will be?

Not sure I have mentioned here, but my beautiful bride has taken a new job.  She love working for Aflac, but ummm...well, she got a offer from a company in her old space Medical Records and she decided to take. it

Upside, it is a great job and Nancy will be back doing what she truly loves and knows.  Downside is her territory is three states and she will often be away from home during the week. Funny, in the past it was me traveling all the time.

I am also now responsible for Peter...ah, raising a teen again.  Not raising, but finding a good space for us to exist and enforcing the rules of the house.  Pray for me Argentina...

LOL

I have not watched that singing show

OH JUST SAY THE NAME

I don't really need to, they all know which show I am talking about

SAME THE NAME

hush

AMERICAN IDOL

happy?

YES

anyway, where was I? OH, yeah, so I am watching it as I began to put down some thoughts for y'all today and like I said I have not really watched it in 3-4 years, but dang, they have some good voices on this season.

Don't know their names, but dang - OH i said that already...HECK-A-DOODLE there is some talent there.

Now I think Steven Tyler sitting there is kind of silly and I would say as much as he adds, he took Pawler's place

Ms Lopez is still looking fine and is much easier to take than Pawler and actually does give some interesting suggestions, but also fawns quite often.

And, what Randy is now the tough guy? Getting the boos from the audience?  Not the DAWG?

Interesting. And having big time producers is certainly different.

What sports are on TV... Baseball starts in just a few weeks..ah salvation!

Hey, have you heard Music On The Couch and my interviews with Lucy Hammond and J.P. Corwyn?

WOW.

Lucy Hammond has this big bold personality and is funny as hell. Then J.P. Corwyncomes on and it was like my long lost red-headed stepchild brother had escaped the attic (ya gotta listen to understand) and was on the show with me. And Lucy stayed around and I popped her phone live and the three of us just got crazy while talking about their lives and their music. They bonded and will be talking about sharing resources.  And Dusty from Robodrum was in chat (as he always is, loyal fan that he is), and he had some things he and JP were going to talk about.

AND...you will find out what happens when J.P., Lucy and Dusty have a hit record and are given a Grammy! OH the wonder of it all!

Hope you take the time to listen and let me know what you thought.

See y'all tomorrow with another FIVE ON FRIDAY!

Missed the last two days due to craziness at work, baseball and a ton of things to do with Nancy traveling.

Monday Night Football took away some of my listeners on Music On The Couch...when it ended I began to see those faces again. Now, Dancing With The Stars begins anew and I know a group will be missing due to that.

I have made a proposal to all TV networks to only show reruns of Sanford and Sons, Chico and The Man and 2 1/2 Men on Mondays.

As of this writing, they have not responded....bAstards!

Are there any words you have troubles with while typing? I am not the best typist in the word, having to glance down at the keyboard to ensure I am hitting the correct keys, but no matter what, when I type the word you it inevitably comes out yuo...not occasionally, but every single solitary time!

It is like my fingers just want to reinvent the spelling of the word...and I do it so often that my spell check in Word DOES NOT EVEN RECOGNIZE IT IS INCORRECT!!!!

Oh the horrors!

Spoke to my best friend yesterday and he and his wife Janice have decided a trip to Nawlins is in order. So, Nancy and I will be joining them on April 16-17-18-19 for a fun time in the French Quarter and more. Andy says he wants to take an air boat ride through the bayou, so that will be in order and I am reaching out to some of the musicians I know there to find out who is playing where.

They could not make it to the wedding, so they have never met Nancy so this is even more special.

Have a favorite place in Nawlins? I have NEVER been there, so let me know!

Catch y'all tomorrow

Let us begin with a mea culpa over yesterday's publishing of that picture. I was in a weird mood and googled 'weird photos' and that was one that popped up. I have heard of the group called Furries, who love to dress up in costumes like animals. I had never seen a family portrait of furries. The little girl examining the appendage of the dad's costume seemed very weird - in the end it was sick...

I know it offended some...I do not think in 4+ years of posts I have ever done that...

It was not my intention to offend...If I did...mea maxima culpa...I apologize...

So, it looks like nothing will come out of that QB from Minnesota sending pictures of his schlong to a young woman...(and not in a Furry outfit either)...She has gone quiet and without her talking to the NFL, there is nothing they can do...

OK, I am beginning to believe I would like to vote for Jon Stewart for any political office he cares to throw his hat into the ring to gain. Seriously, he seems like the only sane person on TV sometimes and he and Stephen Colbert's Rally to Restore Sanity and-or Fear, a stop-the-madness wake-up call occurring three days before the midterm election is a true call in this increasingly ridiculous political season.

Almost every ad I see here in the Memphis area (TN, MS, AR) for Republican candidates don't talk about what their candidates can do..they are all "Stop Pelosi" targeted. What will you do for me Sir or Ma'am? "I will stop Pelosi"
What do you stand for Sir or Ma'am? "I am for stopping Pelosi"

Right...and this deficit? "Pelosi's fault"...Really?

Sanity..is it too much to ask for out of these people who want to run our country?

It is almost Halloween...

chime in..what is yourt favorite horror movie EVER?!?!

Personally, for me it was the first Nightmare On Elm Street...it scared the bejeebus outta me the first time I watched it..and I love the feeling of having the bejeebus scared out of me...yes I do.

I was reading an article where the director, Eli Roth ("Cabin Fever" and the "Hostel" movies and producer of "The Last Exorcism") listed a movie called "Pieces" as his favorite ever and that it would ruin the viewer for any other movies to come...Gots to get me a copy of that, turn the lights out and watch it...yes I do!

These are the things that get under my skin...you know those instances where you want to pick up a ball peen hammer and start to do some drum rolls on people's heads...

No call backs...you know, you call someone...take the time to leave a message and days later..nada...no call back nothing. If I take the time to reach out to you, you darn well better at least acknowledge my attempt.

People who sit in the office and have personal phone calls constantly. I have to listen to their drivel and live in their world. I do not care if your best friend is having problems. I do not care about the new house you are buying. I do care that, at the end of the day, I have to ask about an email about a work situation I sent to you 5 hours ago and you decided to do nothing with it.

People who think they can make plans and you will rearrange your days because of it. If you need me to do something for you, do not wait until the day before to ask and then do not get all offended when I tell you I already have plans that I am not willing to change.

Constant invitations to farm your land or kill people for you or go fishing. When you first asked, I explained I do not do those applications...why are you still asking me for things or inviting me to play?

Interrupters. You know...you are having a conversation with someone or are in the middle of typing or even on the phone and you are interrupted, because the interrupter is just too dang important to wait two minutes..or even to say 'excuse me'.

Blogger. I schedule a post and when I wake the next day I look to see the status has reverted to DRAFT. NO, I set a schedule for it dang it all!

Those are just a few of those things that make me want to scream!

Dad Vince had an angioplasty scheduled yesterday. Luckily, the stress-test that caused this to be scheduled was a false-positive test and there were no blockages. Stay strong dad!

Nancy comes home tomorrow and is not scheduled to travel for a while now. This is wonderful news. I love my alone time...I do, but 6 weeks of alone time is really way too much. No plans for the weekend right now except to hang and enjoy each other...let's see if those plans are changed by someone.

Please send some good thoughts my son Matt's way. He has a hernia operation on Monday. Not a huge operation, but any operation is a scary thing...

So now, American Airlines is charging extra for bulk-head seats and the first few rows of coach seats, calling this scam Express Seating. You pay $19 for shorter distances and up to $39 for a cross-country trip. Spend the dough and you get to board with the first-class passengers.

OK, $350.00 for my ticket, $40 in airport taxes, $50.00 to check my luggage and now $20 if I want a seat up closer to the front of the plane.

I think I am going to follow this example...

Anyone wanting to read my blog prior to my posting at midnight Central time can now pay $6.90 for the privilege.

Want me to answer your comment? $4.57

Misspell a word in your comment, well that will cost you $1.45

All taxes included....

One juror deadlocked four of the five counts in the trial of Rod Blagojevich. Of course now we can all listen to this earthworm trumpet that he is innocent.

Sorry Rod, all it means is that one person received your 'gift' and held out on a guilty verdict...

Did you hear there is a movie coming out on the beginning of Facebook? Yup, social media is going social and now the rage is to make fake trailers for movies about social networking...Look out for "Twit This" and "It is Myspace you ba**ard" in theaters soon.

A little bragging here, sorry about that, but this greeted me this morning when I went to check rankings for the music shows...
Yup...that is Music On The Couch in 14th position! They rank them in columns top to bottom as an F.Y.I.

This is all about the listeners and my guests who promote their appearances on the show.

I promise not to do too much of this, but HEY...I was happy!

I live in Memphis, TN...it is located in the Southern part of the USA...I say this because it makes me crazy when someone (especially a native Memphian) says "Dang, it is so hot, why is it so hot outside?"

Well DOH! It is AUGUST and we live in MEMPHIS!!!!

Same as when someone in Michigan or Wisconsin complains about it being too cold in January...

And then these same people who are complaining about the heat now will b**ch and moan about the 30 degree temps in January...

If you want perfect weather and want to live in the USA, I guess you need to move to someplace like San Diego...but then again these people would probably complain that they miss the change of seasons!

Brett Favre is back in camp with the Vikings...can anyone say "classic coke"?

When he throws an interception in the NFC playoff game when all he has to do is throw the ball away and let the field goal unit come out and win or tie the game...what? OH yeah, that is right, he did that last season...

Can someone say 'jumped the shark'?

So yesterday after months of no problem, I was blocked from The Couch. Strangely enough, it seems to be the only blog I was blocked from seeing. Weird, huh?

It seems it was blocked because of 'streaming media'...I guess that is the player for Music On The Couch. This is the stuff that makes me go ...WTF????

Airports are funny places indeed. Big thunderstorms caused my flight from DFW back home to Memphis to be delayed. The plane, coming in from Detroit had to divert to Austin since they were low on fuel.

Our flight shows delayed until 2:00pm. So they make an announcement saying you could rebook by calling an 800 number. OK, so I call my travel office and they tell me the next scheduled flight to Memphis is 4:30!

So, ummm why would I want to rebook?

I guess it is more for guys like the man sitting near me who had a connection to Tampa and he ‘has to be there tonight’ – ummm hot date?

What is it with the way people dress to travel? Maybe I am really old (shut up Doc B!), but I was taught that you dress appropriately to fly. That means no flip-flops, no torn shorts and dirty clothes.

Personally, I always travel with a sports coat and button down shirt. I may wear jeans, but I am appalled how some travel now. I have no interest in sitting next to someone with hairy legs wearing shorts especially on a small commuter jet where the seating is tight…especially a female!

Corey Haim has passed away. During my waiting time with CNN on the TV, I got to hear from his agent who denies it was a drug overdose. It seems that Corey was taking a low dose of medication to help with his addiction. The agent kept saying he ‘was on a low dose of this medication’ making it seem that it was possibly some sort of methadone…

The medication was prescribed by an addictionologist…OK folks, can someone – anyone tell me WTF is an addictionologist? Bueller…Bueller?

Snickers with almonds are manna from heaven…just saying

OK, who is waiting on their new Prius? When you drive past Toyota dealerships do you make the sign of the cross? Say a prayer for those looking at cars? Laugh out loud?

I love that Popeye’s Chicken is now rebranding themselves as ‘Louisiana Kitchen’…could this be to broaden their reach?

People who yell at gate agents over weather delays should lose their right to fly

So former Senator Massa harassed male staffers? What do you call four guys jumping on you to ‘celebrate your 50th birthday’? I call it a coming out party! And grown men wrestling in the office? And tickling a male staffer until he could not breathe? But it is NOT sexual????

Seriously dude...are we supposed to buy that? I am sure that solidified his creed with the Republican Party though. And I heard he and Roy Ashburn are not Facebook friends.

So George Washington, William & Mary and other colleges are banning laptops in lecture halls because students are playing online games and checking their Facebook accounts. How is that different from kids doodling in their notebooks pre-laptops?

And I love that one professor poured liquid nitrogen onto a laptop before dropping it on the floor and letting it shatter! Maybe they should talk to the IT Nazi’s at my job and learn how to just block those sites…or maybe it is even better to just let little Tiffany and Dawson fail and deal with those consequences.

How come airports in Florida can offer free wireless internet, yet airports in other parts of the country insist on charging you $10 for 24 hours of service – ummm dudes, if I am stuck in your freakin airport for 24 hours, I am going to be throwing the laptop against the wall. Wonder if I could find some liquid nitrogen before I do that?

NYC is over the top…the NYC Health Department is making restaurants cut back on salt content by 25% in the next three years… WTF??? How can you expect me to eat a corned beef sandwich at Kat’s Deli that tastes like trash if it can not be made properly?

Mayor Bloomberg’s campaign to regulate the health of the citizens of NYC MUST be stopped!

Why didn’t Conan O’Brien decide to follow me on Twitter…then I would have 20,000 followers like Sarah Killen…Damn you Conan! I sent him a tweet telling him how disappointed I was!

I think my interview with Debbie Gabrione from Ten Year Vamp on Monday evening on Music On The Couch was really great. She is a great interview and we hit it off. I wish the band a ton of luck!

If you have not heard it, check it out from the player on the upper left of this page.

What is it with idjits who are in the gate area on their cell phones while the gate agent is calling last call and then they mention their name and they saunter up like they own the freakin airline? Close the dang door and leave their a**es behind I say!

See what happens when you make me sit in a boarding area for two plus hours…..

YAY! My plane is here!

See y’all tomorrow.

Remember a little band from back in the 60's called The Beatles? Yeah, I am sure one or two of you have heard of them. They had a few 'minor' hits and caused a little uproar when they came to the US from their home in Liverpool, England.

As I mentioned on Monday's show, The Beatles and that guy named Michael Jackson pretty much carried the music industry over the finish line for 2009. Without the release of Michael's "This Is It" release and the re-release of a remastered Beatles catalog, the music industry would have been dreadful, instead of just pitiful.

Well, if you are a fan of The Beatles, then you have to check out Beatles Tube. Here you will find all of the Beatles videos in one place, cataloged by album and by song alphabetically. All of these videos are on youtube, but here they are all in one place. Each video page also has a small description of the song and in some cases, information from the Beatles pulled in from various sources.

Not a huge Beatles fan? Well, you can then check out Rolling Stones Tube or U2 Tube or Queen Tube or even Elvis Tube.

In many instances, the lyrics for the songs are right there, so you can grab your hairbrush, crank up the Tuneage and sing into your mirror, channeling your inner Freddy Mercury.

My iTouch was en fuego this afternoon...I mean, sometimes it just knows how my day is going and ensures that the day is made easier...

I could go back 30-40 songs, but here are the last 15 that played for me:
Heaven Knows - Taylor Hicks - Taylor Hicks
Paradise Cove - Peter Yorn - Back & Forth
Old Fashioned Love Song - Three Dog Night - Celebrate: Three Dog Night
Champagne Jam - Atlanta Rhythm Section - Champagne Jam
How Sweet It Is - James Taylor - American Pie Soundtrack
From The Edge Of The Deep green Sea - The Cure - Show
The Mighty Quinn - Manfred Mann's Earth Band - single
In The Court Of The Crimson King - King Crimson - In The Court Of the Crimson King
Cross To Bear - Allman Brothers Band - 09.27.08 Robbinsville, MS (The show Nancy and I saw)
Don't be Denied - Crosby Still Nash & Young - 09.08.74 Roosevelt Raceway (a show I was also at!)
Letter - America - Hideaway
With You In Mind - Aaron Neville - Warm Your Heart
Old Man Down The Road - John Fogerty - Centerfield
Beautiful Boy - John Lennon - Double Fantasy
100 Yard Dash - Raphael Saadiq - The Way I See It

Want to share the last FIVE songs your mp3 player delivered to you?

See you tomorrow....Rock on...

OK, post 1,002...

Stream of consciousness - back to my love of Hunter S. Thompson and the like

Had dinner with out largest print supplier and our entire team and my client base this evening.

I tweeted earlier in the night biggie steaks and expensive wine.

Yes, I said tweeted...shoot me, but I have succumbed to the Twitter-devil...and it was to promote my radio show, but I have found I do tweet...as a matter of fact, before I began writing this - at 11:00pm - I tweeted the following "home...now with a grand buzz and wishing my baby was not in Baton Rouge".

Ended up having a delicious Red Snapper and some expensive wine. Glad others were reaching for the check!

So, the opening to American Idol tonight with Ryan not doing the whole intro and saying "Stop talking Simon"

Sorry, I totally believe the show has "jumped the shark"

From Wikipedia: Joseph Addison (1 May 1672 – 17 June 1719) was an English essayist, poet and politician. He was a man of letters, eldest son of Lancelot Addison. His name is usually remembered alongside that of his long-standing friend, Richard Steele, with whom he founded The Spectator magazine.

Why do I introduce you to this man..well, because he is the author of this incredible quote which I heard this evening:

"Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are
something to do,
something to love, and
something to hope for."

I am not sure I can fulfill all of these I certainly have something (and someone to love), I do have something to hope for...the something to do is up in the air in so many ways...I am not being satisfied in my career right now and I can honestly say that I have never felt this way before...it is curious to me...

I do have something I would love to get the opportunity to do, but sometimes it is not about wanting to do something but having that opening to do so...

The other day I did this Facebook blast about my Blogtalk Radio program and after I did it I regretted it...I do not want to beg for listeners.

I do want to get an audience for the artists I am featuring, but at the same time, I am feeding what I have always called the "ego monster" (imagine me holding my hand in the center of my chest and making an 'eating' motion with my fingers...)...I have always loved radio and began my little career back in high school when friends and I would do radio shows on a CB Radio.

Come on...you all have an "ego-monster" in you... you feel good when someone tells you that they like what you wrote, or how you did your job or how you performed in a play or whatever...that is what I call the "ego-monster" that part of us that giggles inside when you feel good because you received a compliment

The girls did a much better job on American Idol...these guys are weak.

I am holding back on ranting on something that has occurred recently in the bloggosphere...because in the end by talking about it will only give credence to the whole situation - and it does not deserve it.

With that, I say goodnight...

So, at this point I have no idea how the Name That Tune Death Match turned out, but for my sake I hope I did not bomb badly!

OH I BOMBED...major league choke artist...total loser...stick a fork in me, I am done...the brain immediately locked up and I could not evn identify the simplest of songs and artists...C-H-U-M-P

CONGRATS TO ANNIE, who giggled at me the whole time as I stumbled and bumbled

WTF is going on with this weather? I loved reading that some in the Washington area are blaming it on our President. Seems President Obama made a comment when he was elected about missing the snow of Chicago...and now people have found a way to blame him for something else!

Charlie Wilson, the former congressman from Texas whose funding of Afghanistan's resistance to the Soviet Union was chronicled in the movie and book "Charlie Wilson's War," died Wednesday. He was 76.

The preliminary cause of death was cardiopulmonary arrest. If you have not seen the movie, you must. It really chronicles many of the mistakes made by the US which led to bin Laden being able to start his war of terror. Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman are all superb.

When the Russians withdrew, the US decided to pull all of it's support from Afghanistan, thus resulting in the Afghan people being bitter after promises had been made.

Hugh Hefner has lived the high-life for years, but now things may be changing slightly...seems Hef has been sued by a shareholder who wants the Prince of p***y to sell the empire. Recently Hef has "sabotaged two potential deals in the last six months to sell the company at a decent price".

The suit also alleges that the issue price of Playboy $5.99 is even higher than the stock price.

This could get into a jello wrestling match real soon...
