I turn around and my modem seems to be fine, as does my wireless router. I decide to reset the router and unplug it and disconnect from the modem. Wait 60 seconds - do you know how long 60 seconds is when you are sending out dead-air to people hoping to listen to your show? It take 2,000,000,000,000 seconds, that is how long it is! - and go to plug the router in again. And....NOTHING! No lights, nothing.
What to do? Well i immediately decide to hard-wire the Mac into the internet and grab a CAD 5 cable and get it all set up.
OK, I am on the air...but my guest has left! I turned to a friend in the chat room and ask him to call the guest, Keith Sykes, and ask him to call back in.
By the time it all gets taken care of, I lost about 20 minutes of time with Mr. Sykes.
I will have him back soon, as he has another album about to drop...an album of blues songs!
The rest of the show went pretty well. A full chat room, many new-comers who got to hear, what was arguably the worst show (from a technical standpoint) so far. Some problems with my sound (time for a real microphone me thinks, but no problems with both guests.
Keith was a gem and understood. My second guest, Jim Chilson from the Ten Foot Polecats got an almost error free (except for the last 5 minutes when my audio dropped!) time on The Couch.
After the show ended, I went in and edited out all the dead air at the beginning and fixed what was lost at the end...so the show, a tad short by comparison, is in archives and ready for y'all to hear.
All that said, I hope you check out the show and let the opening audio problems pass you by...
