Monday and a new week begins

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Monday, November 01, 2010 12 Of Your Sparks

Well, this weekend was spent in bed and not in a good way. An upper respiratory infection has kept me under the covers and then my laptop ran out of juice (no power cable at home), so most of my time has been spent using my phone...

Feeling a bit better today and need to be at work tomorrow (Monday), so I am staying in bed again.

Being sick caused me not to not be able to participate in my favorite holiday - Halloween - no scaring the poop out of teens who came to our home (well, as it is only 11am, not sure we will get any one here, but even if they do...no scaring this year...

pout

I also missed my buddy TRAVIS from "Trav's Thoughts" Five on Friday last week. Sorry about that bud...maybe I will do a double post this week!

Nancy left on a trip for business Sunday and will be back either Wednesday or Thursday...stay safe my love.

I am thinking about going dark here for the month of December...still have not decided yet, but I think I may need a break and maybe that will make people miss me more! bwahahahahahahahahahahaha

Are you ready for BLOGBLAST FOR PEACE? It is this Thursday and it is growing each day. You can check it all out by visiting the BlogBlast information over at the ounder of BlogBlast For Peace MIMI of "Mimi Writes" and this year we also have a big presence on FaceBook at THIS PAGE

Join us...spread the word!

Tonight I have two great guests for MUSIC ON THE COUCH

Nancy Apple is a Memphis native who leans more toward country-rock than blues. She has an incredible voice and is an advocate for many causes. We will hear music from her latest album SHINE.

Then from Seattle comes the band Handful Of Luvin' and their "fiddle driven rock" sound. These guys caught my ear immediately and I look forward to speaking with them and playing music from their latest LIFE IN BETWEEN.

Hope you can join us and remember, if you can't be there live, the shows are always archived at the link above or at MUSIC ON THE COUCH or by subscribing at my ITunes page.

Tuesday Thoughts

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, March 02, 2010 11 Of Your Sparks

My Nancy was traveling all last week and she was so very sick with chest congestion and sour stomach and for a time she could hardly even speak from laryngitis.

Well on Sunday she showed how much she loves me by letting me have some of her illness. She is so good like that, sharing and all. I was out of the office yesterday and slept a good portion of the day.

Made me wonder if I was going to make the show last night, but I am a trooper and I will be there (writing this at 5:00pm...show at 9:00pm).

I have to echo a statement by JAY of "Cynical B**tard" who spoke yesterday about Twitter enhancing the Olympic viewing pleasure. He and I going back and forth during the hockey game on Sunday and also demanding begging for one of those moose hats with the flashing lights from the closing ceremony was fun.

OK, NBC is getting a ton of well deserved crap for leaving the closing ceremony to air that horrible Marriage Ref...but honestly, the ceremony was decending into a parody of itself.

I could not tell if I was watching the Olympics, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, or a really lame episode of Second City. The bit with Shatner, O'Hara and Fox was pitiful. The writers should be taken out to one of those frozen lakes and dropped into the water.

But even more pitiful was Jerry Seinfeld's return to TV. Dude...that show is the crap. The people who appear on there and fight over whether the family pet should be stuffed and displayed or whether a stripper pole (well, it IS exercize!) in the bedroom are really at the lowest level of the totem pole...well except they are getting vacation cruises for making themselves look like fools...HEY NANCY, can we get on there???

Thank you to those who are listening to Music On The Couch. Remember, even if you are not available on Monday evenings, you can download the show from the player at the top of the left sidebar.

You can not watch the Food Network (one of my favorite things to do) when your stomach is rolling around like the ocean after an earthquake.

NO, I do not believe the 2012 end of the world crapola (Man, I am saying that word a lot today!)...but you have to wonder what the heck-a-doodle is going on these days.

See you tonight on the Radio Happy Hour when we will welcome the cast of The Buried Life - an MTV reality show focusing on four friends; Duncan Penn, Ben Nemtin, Dave Lingwood, and Jonnie Penn as they travel across America to complete a list of “100 things to do before you die.”

For every item they complete on their list, they help a stranger achieve one of their dreams and encourage others to go after their own lists.

Everywhere they go they ask the question: What do you want to do before you die?

AND...Chris Illuminati, the coauthor of Assholeology: The Science Behind Getting Your Way and Getting Away with it.

OK, man could I get snarky about that and someone I used to know...

See y'all tomorrow...

Dear Bond's Boss...

TIME TO DONATE SOME RICE TODAY!

Yup....We is sick....rapid test came back 'no flu', but Doc hit me with the Tamiflu and Augmentin and a 'sinus-cocktail' in the upper right arse cheek and the words "Can you work from home?"
"Yes"
"Do so for the rest of the week..."

And then he actually gave me a note! "Excuse From School/Work" note ....bwahahahahahahahah

Anyhow..we did work most of the afternoon...which was not fun...ended up giving instructions on how to use a vendor-partner's web site....sigh....

We really hate this...now, tell me there is no work and we are feeling great and the sun is out and it is a beautiful day (as it was today) and WOOOOO

But to have to stay in and pretty much - in bed - well that really sucks...

We are fine Mom....Kiss

darlin' Nancy took us to the doctor's....it was very sweet of her to ask...

OK...how come only ONE person pointed out the typo in one of our Message In A Bottle meme's below? huh?

And that one person sent us an email to point it out ....we told him me actually meant Mever...that it is a special word to us ... he did not buy it....

OK...OK...you were so overwhelmed by the sentiment that you never even saw the typo...that's it ..... right?...right...right?

bwahahaahahahahahahaha - guess we will have to fix that one...

Sorry...just sneezed...excuse me while we grab a tissue...

OK, back...We have ants in the apartment...mainly upstairs in the bedroom...We just cleaned the whole place, so it is not our messiness...good thing the pest-control comes today...One of the hassles of apartment living....

Thinking about your "March Madness Brackets" yet??? We know Travis is...This is one that we have never done real well in....sure we get through some of the early rounds then we blow up!

Have never really followed College Basketball in the past, but now living here in the Mid-South where it is huge - and especially so this year with the great run by the Memphis Tigers - and new friends who are big Ole Miss fans - well, let's say we are more attuned to the dynamics of the teams than we have been...

does that mean we should do better this year?...NOT A FREAKIN' CHANCE....

does it mean we are not going to give it a try?...NOT A FREAKIN' CHANCE...we will be in somewhere....

OK...rambling now...Feeling light-headed...(and not in the charmin' normal way either!)...

Music...music...music...

We just looked and we have not played anything from this incredible group. THE IMPRESSIONS while Curtis Mayfield was writing much of their music and leading the group...

"People Get Ready" was released in 1965 as a single and aslso the title track to the follow-up album. The single reached #3 on the Billboard R&B Chart and #14 on the Billboard Pop Chart. The gospel-influenced track displayed the growing sense of social and political awareness in Mayfield's writing.

Rolling Stone magazine named the song the "24th greatest song of all time". The song was included in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

Enjoy...

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Thank to everyone for their comments on the redecorating done here. We have tweaked already, darking the red that appears in the sidebars.

We have gotten one complaint of the vibrancy of the blue. Is this something that disturbs anyone else? If it bothers your eyes, you will not spend time here and of course that is the reason we are here..

So, while the world was celebrating the beginning of a new world, Saddam Hussein was executed for his crimes against humanity.

Tisha at Serenity Quest had asked if he should have been executed or put into jail until he died. To THE COUCH, what was done benefited everyone concerned. Putting him in prision would have meant paying for his upkeep for - what? - another 20-30 years? Hundreds of thousands of dollars? Nope.

Unfortunately, we are still occupying the country and he did still have many followers. Evidently those followere include anyone never tortured by he or his sons, or those who did not know someone who had been. THE COUCH thinks this is probably a small number given all of the pain he was responsible for over the years.

None-the-less, our troops and those covering them have now been subjected to the backlash of these supporters and will continue to be so.

Another reason for our President to try and restore some respectability to his legend by bringing our men and women home and out of harms way.

Let me tell you how to not spend New Year's Eve. Sitting in bed, with some tid-bits to eat and OJ and two boxes of tissues and aspirin and aches.

Nope, not the way to do it at all.

HOPE Y'ALL FOUND BETTER WAYS!

Wondering if you have heard the story of Jim & Mary Walker. They live in Colorado. They have snow. Lot's and lots of snow. They need a new snowblower and need money.

THE COUCH, having inside sources in every single home in the world...was able to obtain a recording made of the original conversation held in the Walker household.

"Hey Jim, what can we sell so that we can get you that new SNOWblower and then you will not drop dead of a heartattack and leave me to shovel all that crap outside?"

"How the hell do I know Mary, and anyway how do you think you are going to have a garage sale.. don't you see all that SNOW outside??? I just wish it owuld all go away."

"Well if I could make all the SNOW go away, we wouldn't need the moeny to get you a new SNOW blower...ummm wait.. did you see on ebay someone is selling ghosts? Maybe we can sell some of the SNOW and make the money."

"Who the hell would buy SNOW???" "How about those fools in the south? They never get snow. Or someone in Hawaii? No snow thre."

So, yup, ya got it...right HERE on ebay, you can bid on SNOW. The starting bid is $0.99 and only 10 bids will be accepted. FOUR people have already bid.

Only and they promise no yellow snow, but will not guarantee state of the product upon delivery. But, you can show up at their home and pick it up yourself.
THE COUCH will not be bidding on this product. We have an inside with TUG in Hell, CO, so we can get SNOW whenever we darn well please....right Tug?!
Speaking of cold and snow, yesterday as we did the spanning the world of New Year's, we made a mistake and are being taken to task for it, so if you happen to go back and look, we are no longer waving to Coco in Nova Scotia - but are now waving to her in New Brunswick, Canada where she actually lives.

All suggestions will be taken into consideration. We have begun formulating the next installment of the MONDAY MATINEE.

Thanks for sitting...
