Wordy Wednesday

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, October 20, 2010 13 Of Your Sparks

So, this post was originally set for Tuesday, but dear old Blogger decided to ONCE AGAIN take a scheduled post and reset it to DRAFT!!!!

Then I awoke and had like 4 more comments on my Monday post and decided to let it sit for a second day.

I have always posted 5 days a week (except for those raw times and scheduled hiatuses) but I am wondering, with the reduced traffic, if it makes sense to continue to do so...more on this to come...

And again today, the same thing...is Blogger trying to tell em not to post anymore???

Get ready for the FOX-heads and TeaBaggers to have a ball with this one...President Obama will appear on the TV show "MythBusters"...Discovery says the episode considers this question: Did Greek scientist Archimedes set fire to an invading Roman fleet using only mirrors and the reflected rays of the sun?

But you know how this is going to turn out, don't you?

"Ah he is on to see if they can prove he is an American"

"Maybe they can prove he is a Muslim"

yadda...yadda...yadda...

The episode has already been taped and is part of a White House push to promote math and science education.

Did you know it is only 16 15 days until the next BlogBlast For Peace?

Well it is almost here. Are you going to participate either on your blog or on Facebook where the group is represented HERE.

I am working on my globe and will offer up my services to anyone who needs assistance.

I mean...HUH?????

The NFL could soon start suspending players for dangerous helmet hits, executive vice president of football operations Ray Anderson told The Associated Press on Monday.

A day after several scary collisions in Sunday’s games, Anderson acknowledged the league might need to do more than fining players to prevent such hits—and soon.

OK kiddies..this is freakin stupid, because it is so hard to think about this before it happens. When you begin to ask players to think about the hit before it happens, you will end up with even more injuries.

Maybe it is time to lessen the amount of equipment the players wear...get rid of all the padding that makes them feel 'safe'...

Something needs to be done before we have some really major injuries on the field...

Your thoughts?

To paraphrase Dennis Green "Cliff Lee was who we thought he was"...yup, the guy was masterful on Monday and my Yankees find themselves down 2-1 in the ALCS. Have the country is cheering and whooping it up at the moment (half...heck-a-doodle, it is probably more like 80%...

But this is my Yankee team and they are resilient. If oyu only looked at the score, it is misleading. The score was 2-0 Texas in the top of the 9th and then our normally reliable relief corps took it on the chin (think Yankee 8th inning in game 1)...

So...is it over - HELL NO

AM I nervous - NOT YET

My three-part article on the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival is now running on American Blues News, along with an interview about the history of the festival and my friend Robert "Nighthawk" Tooms also has an article written from the perspective of a musician/fan at the fest..check them out at AMERICAN BLUES NEWS.

Wednesday News - some wacky, some sad

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, June 23, 2010 16 Of Your Sparks

So, what is happening in this wacky world of ours...

Dateline San Francisco...Cell phone retailers would have to post the amount of radiation emitted from their phones under a proposed city ordinance poised for final approval Tuesday.

San Francisco's Board of Supervisors was set to vote on the first-of-its-kind ordinance, which would require stores to disclose the specific absorption rate, or SAR, of each phone they sell.
Those wacky guys are smoking some superb weed out there. I am not sure I see the reasons for this, but now we will be bombarded with commercials from AT&T and Verizon telling us how the other guy's phone will make your brain explode like an egg in a microwave!

“Some people use a diary to document the highs and lows in their life but not Patti Gaal-Holmes – she prefers to use teabags. So, while others have drawers full of written reminiscences, this 44-year-old has old suitcases stuffed with more than 32,000 used bags. ‘I love drinking tea and I save the teabags because it’s a way of marking the days – it’s better than a diary,’ she said. The mother of three has perfected her tea-related logging technique over the past 11 years. First, she has her cuppa then dabs the used bag on some paper. She then numbers the bag and sometimes notes down who she drank the tea with and anything interesting they discussed. She then dries the tea bag in the sunshine or on a radiator before storing it in one of her three large suitcases.
Maybe her husband should just teabag her...sorry, I could not resist.

Gen. Stanley McChrystal forgot that, no matter your political leaning, when you are in uniform the man who the American people ELECTED is your Commander-In-Chief and you should not publicly diss him, no matter what!

McChrystal has some derogatory quotes about President Obama , Vice-President Biden and Ambassador Karl Eikenberry, Ambassador to Afghanistan in the coming issue of Rolling Stone Magazine.
Sorry, but the man has got to resign and get his honorable discharge and go into the private sector now. You never ever criticize your boss in public, whether you are a general, an accountant or the cashier at the local 7-11.

Chinese toddler Ya Wen started downing pints and smoking up to a pack a day after being struck by a speeding van and spending five days in a coma, her parents told the Yangcheng Evening Post. “She likes drinking,” her mother, Gao Wen, said. “Three glasses of beer is no problem to her.” Gao Wen said her daughter’s personality changed dramatically and she started acting like an adult shortly after leaving the hospital. First, she was busted hiding in the toilet smoking her dad’s cigs. Then she began stealing them from a store – until the owner let her have them on credit.
So, maybe she is just channeling Dennis Hopper!

U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman, who was appointed by President Ronald Reagan and has owned stock in a number of petroleum-related companies, has thrown out the 6-month moratorium on deep-water drilling imposed by the government after the debacle in the Gulf.

The suit was brought by companies that ferry workers and supplies to the rigs in the Gulf.

That wild guy, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal applauded the ruling.
This moratorium covered 33 rigs out of the over 3,600 platforms operating in the Gulf today. 33!! And the wild thing is that Jindal and others were complaining that the ruling would cause damages to the workers who earn over $50,000.00 per year. Let's not talk about all those people who make far less working in the tourist industry and how their lives have been effected, or the traumatic effects a second accident would have on the region.

33 rigs out of 3,600 closed down...this really confuses me.

Steve Wilson works for DoodyCalls Pet Waste Removal. On a recent call, he noticed money sticking out from doggie doo. Wilson wasn’t sure what to do, but eventually pulled out the bills, sanitized them, placed them in a plastic zip-locked bag and returned them to the customer. It turned out to be $58. The company said the money was torn, but the serial numbers were identifiable, which means the bills could be returned to a bank and replaced with new money.
I knew I needed a new career!

Nashville Rising, a benefit concert for the victims of the Nashville flood was held last evening. The all-star line up for the concert was to include Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes, Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Lynyrd Skynrd, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith and ZZ Top.
Glad to see this finally happened. I hope they raised the hoped for $2-million for the victims.

See, there is absolutely no reason to go anywhere but here for all of the important news in the world.

Happy Birthday & Wednesday Words....

Tuneage Tutelage - New Music Monday...continue or not?

The last two have had very few votes attached to them and I am wondering if the whole idea is really something y'all enjoy.

Between the cold here in Memphis (26 degrees yesterday - yeah I know that is a heatwave for some of y'all) and the fact that my back is still really sore and I have to tell you...I NEED A VACATION SOMEWHERE WARM!!!!

The St. Thomas thing through Nancy's work is not going to come to past. Her direct boss wants to reward her, but she has been told that she has not worked there for a year so she is not going to be invited...

Guess closing 5 deals in the first two months does not earn you that right...so now she and I need to figure out what we can do to get away for a few days together.

As far as the back, I had to suspend my gym membership for two months...I tried and just can not work out yet, plus in February I am traveling 10 of the 20 work days...

Did have my 6-month doctor visit yesterday (Tuesday) and I have kept off all the weight which is amazing since I have not worked out since December 19th and with Christmas and New year's I would have thought I had put on a few pounds...also my cholesterol is like excellent...so maybe the medication can be done away with.

Tried to watch the President Obama's Inauguration on my computer at work yesterday and could not get anything to stream. Was real frustrated until we received an email from IT telling everyone they has suspended all streaming video because so many people were trying to stream, the system almost crashed!

Will be trying to watch the replays tonight (Tuesday) as I have heard he gave an excellent speech.

Not a lot of words today, see y'all tomorrow....

The first step...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, January 20, 2009 23 Of Your Sparks

Yesterday was a day to honor an American hero. One whose life was cut short by a man who oozed hatred from every pore of his being.

Today we celebrate the Inauguration of the 44th President Of The United States. A man who has lived a life unlike any other President before him.

Godspeed Mr. Obama. I put my faith in your ideology. In the promises you made during your campaign. I have not been pleased the last 8 years and I am ready change. I am ready to hold accountable those who have benefited from the pain of others. I am ready to hold accountable those who believe that living above your means is a right and flaunt their arrogance by not accepting their debt.

I yearn for a new attitude by all. It is not going to be easy. Even now some talk of a "coronation" and not an Inauguration. They will not climb aboard the train easily, if at all, but I believe we can eventually bring them on board.

It will take honesty and integrity and humility and it will take compromise. We can not now disenfranchise those who do not think as we do. That is what has been done to many over the last eight years.

The only way for this to work is for those who are now in power to embrace their detractors. Honestly, I think more than ever, it is time for the American people to come together and realize that we are all citizens of the same country.

My election day post found HEREincluded the text from President Kennedy's Inauguration speech.

To paraphrase...time to start thinking about all of us and not just yourself.

God Bless America

Seems I upset one of my blogger friends with my signature in comments yesterday, inviting people to visit The Couch on Monday's for New Music. I was asked not to do it anymore and I won't.

If that bothered anyone else, I apologize...I have seen people do it over the years and I was just trying to introduce some new people to the opportunity to hear and win some CDs.

You can still vote in the poll on yesterday's post and leaving a comment gets you into a drawing for the CDs...
