Monday Missives...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Monday, October 06, 2008 21 Of Your Sparks

What goes around comes around....

An incredible career...now almost totally forgotten...

Incredibly THIRTEEN YEARS TO THE DAY, from his acquittal in the murder of his wife Nicole and her friend Ronald Goldman, OJ Simpson was found guilty on 12 charges of armed robbery, conspiracy to kidnap and assault with a deadly weapon.

The armed robbery charges carry a mandatory jail sentence and the kidnapping charge carries a possible term of life imprisonment.

If THAT is not a cosmic F-U to OJ Simpson, I do not know what is...!!!!!!

Congrats to Travis' team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, on their advancing to the NL Championship. The will face the Phillies from Philadelphia.

What goes around, comes around...

My Yankees were up 3-0 against the Red Sux in 2004 in the AL Championship and two players helped with the most incredible comeback in baseball history. Manny Ramirez went 6-18 in the last four games and the winning pitcher for the Sux in game 7 was Derek Lowe.

The manager of the Yankees, was of course, Joe Torre. Torre is now the manager of the Dodgers. Manny Ramirez was traded to the Dodgers on July 31st and since then he hit .362, with 17 HRs, 52 RBIs and 39 runs scored, certainly assisting them in their quest for a title.

When he came over, the Dodger's were 2 games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks. They won the division with a 2 game lead over the Diamondbacks. Not the only reason, but a big part of their win.

Derek Lowe won 14 games this year with a stellar 3.24 ERA and won game one of the series against the Cubs to help put the Dodgers in the Championship game.

Had a beautiful weekend her in Memphis. Watched some baseball all three days, Peter's team lost in the semi-final game on a few real questionable calls...but that is sports and you suck it up and come back next time.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous, bright sunny days with temps in the low 80's. Just have to love it....well at least I do...

Was working with my iTunes and with a music list I had from the years I was a DJ and combining them to build a full data base. I went to do some transferring of cassettes and found my cassette deck is on the fritz. It has been a long while since I actually used it. Might have to buy a new one to transfer all the cassettes I have.

While a wedding DJ, I put my music on cassettes (this was just before CDs became popular), because many halls have stages which tend to shimmy and shake and it made it tough to use vinyl. Mostly I used 45's but did bring along compilation albums. So I have many cassette tapes to transfer over, including one I really want to get done.

It is a concert by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band recorded live at the Bottom Line in NYC from 1975!

Well, there is also the tape of the Grateful Dead from the Englishtown Raceway concert that I attended on September 3rd, 1977 that I also would really like to have digitized.

Well, there are also a few tapes back from when I was doing Radio in Rochester and with the Kaleidoscope Network when I was doing shows that ran on stations around the country. The one I have from that time, strangely enough, Dad Vince had and he duped it for me. Not sure how he ended up with it and I didn't have one!?!

So...have to look into a cassette deck....sheesh

Whimsical Wednesday

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, November 14, 2007 18 Of Your Sparks

OK, so this is starting to become a habit...we have a full day and things are going a mile a minute and then BAM! it is 10:00pm at night and our brain is semi full of barely incoherent thoughts....

Sort of like having 1,000,000,000,000,000 little mini-Matt-Men running around the room that is our brain like a group of toddlers in an overcrowded day care just after they shared cupcakes to celebrate a birthday.....

LOOK OUT FOR THAT KID, HE IS EATING PASTE!

Television on in the background... ESPN SportsCenter talking about this Pac-Man Jones and his sentencing in Las Vegas. Sheesh...he gets off after the death of a bouncer at the club pleading no contest to conspiracy...and his lawyer is asked 'what is your client's mind-set' and the response is 'to get back to playing football'...DUDE get your life together, you spend more time in police stations than Jack Web for crimminy sake....

OK, OK, we know...'arrested but never convicted'...he is a walking talking illustration to show your kids about how NOT to act...

Sorry...we got lost there for a second..the image of a (would it be a gaggle? a herd? a flock?) of Matt-Men all as toddlers...running rampant...

When we grow up we want good friends like OJ Simpson has made...they are rolling over on him like Ron Goldman's family set this whole thing up....

HEY, if it was someone in my family that the un-convicted killer had murdered, we would come up with a scheme to get him back...

Someone please stop that kid from running with scissors....

The Washington Wild Things play in the Frontier League and are located in Washington, Pennsylvania. Yesterday they tendered a formal offer to one Barry Bonds. This is from their web site:

Washington, PA - The Independent Frontier League’s Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, have offered a contract to Barry Bonds, according to officials.

A move to the Wild Things’ organization would give Bonds the opportunity to return to the market where he started his Major League career. Bonds debuted with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1986, playing seven seasons in Western Pennsylvania prior to signing a contract with the San Francisco Giants in 1993. “Many of the great one’s eventually return to where their careers began,” said Wild Things General Manager Ross Vecchio. “Babe Ruth began his career with the Red Sox and then finished with the Boston Braves; Willie Mays started with the New York Giants and finished his career with the Mets; and, of course, Hank Aaron began and finished his career in Milwaukee (Braves & Brewers). This contract gives Barry the opportunity to play once again in Western, PA as he continues his career.”

According to the Wild Things, Bonds’ contract offer includes a base salary as well as a number of incentives. “He will have the opportunity to meet certain bonus levels based on breaking any Frontier League single-season offensive record,” explained Vecchio.

Bonus Level A for hitting 36 Home Runs (record 35 by Morgan Burkhardt in 1998)
Bonus Level A for 101 RBI (record 100 by Pete Pirman in 2005)
Bonus Level A for 86 Base on Balls (record 85 by Burkhardt in 1998)
Bonus Level B for breaking single season record in any of the following categories: batting average, games played, at-bats, runs scored, hits, total bases, doubles, triples, hit by pitch, and/or stolen bases

In addition, Bonds’ contract offer includes other considerations including a single king-sized room when the team is on road; 50% of all net proceeds of individual Barry Bonds/Wild Things merchandise; and The Wild Things will provide Bonds a host family if needed.

Let's review that press release for a second...Mr. Vecchio is equating the Washington Wild Things with the NY Mets and the Milwaukee Brewers (OK, that may not be a stretch!)...what do they put in the water out there in Western PA??????

Now...let's see, 'YO Barry, you can stay with a host family if you do not want to rent an apartment in Washington, PA'...well he might need it...base salary is somewhere south of $2,000.00/month...LOL...

'Oh Barry-dear, come on down and get your Captain Crunch and toast before you go play your little baseball game'

OH and he gets a single king-sized room on the road...and 50% cut on merchandise...

Gotta love this stuff...they are giggling in the Wild Things offices today....'hehehe first we name the team after a character in an off-beat baseball movie and not we are gonna sign Barry Bonds and then we will take over the National League!!!!!! bwahahahahahahahahahha'

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Monday, November 20, 2006 24 Of Your Sparks

"FOOL"
"KILLER"

Welcome to THE COUCH...it is time for a rant, so please keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times.....
THE COUCH has figured out the coding so now, each song will not only have a song title, but, when possible the song to play. Just press the play button and off you go...

"Fool"

This is going through the blog universe like wildfire..and has even made the news.

Michael Richards, Kramer from Seinfeld had a meltdown at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood.

THE COUCH
will not put the video up because it is disturbing. He used a disgusting derogatory word in his routine not once, not twice, but FIVE TIMES!

It appears that he was being heckled by a patron and just imploded.

We will hear in the next few days that he has entered a rehab clinic and is "getting help" for his addiction.

THE COUCH
is sick and tired of these celebrities and people who are in the spotlight being able to make statements about anything, hurting millions of people and then being able to hide behind their publicists and agents.

We loved Seinfeld and really enjoyed the character of Kramer...but now, this uselss piece of demented DNA will never be a part of our lives again.

The best part of the tape is watching people get up and walk out while he is still on stage.

Mr. Invisible has already begun the PR game by appearing via satellite on Letterman tonight and issuing an apology and stating he is "not a racist."

He appears during a segment of the show in which Jerry Seinfeld appears as a guest.

Seinfeld explained that he had spoken to the human slug earlier in the day and asked him to come on and explain himself.

Like this apology really matters.

Look, comedians on stage get heckled all the time and the best comics know how to defuse the situation...what Mr. Useless did was revert to the lowest form of slime by attacking the person in the audience with his demented filth.

Don Rickles made a career out of insulting people but never had to revert to the repulsive behavior exhibited by this poor excuse for a human being.

Mel Gibson
gets to insult an entire race of people and go into rehab and it is supposed to be all better.

Bad little boy, go sit in the corner and don't talk for a half hour and then mommy will make you cookies.

THE COUCH is terribly disappointed in David Letterman for allowing himself to be used by Mr. Nauseating today.

And in the end...this is the apology Mr. Sleazeball gives...
"I lost my temper on stage, I was at the comedy club trying to do my act and I got heckled and I took it badly and went into a rage. For me to be at a comedy club and flip out and say this crap, you know, I am deeply, deeply sorry."

That's right bad boy go and sit in the corner...

NO
...celebrities, caucasian americans, asian americans, african americans need to ban together and make it known that Mr. Repugnant is a pariah...

Evidently the owners of the
Laugh Factory do not feel that way as they allowed Mr. Abhorrant to perform the next evening!

THE COUCH
could easily post the video or the link here for you to see, but we are so disgusted by this incident, we will not.

"Killer"

Occassionally even those who make their living at the expense of others actually listen to the public when their is a big enough outcry.

Rupert Murdoch
, the king of slime publishing and TV, announced today that the book written bu the murderer and the TV special this person was to have appeared on are cancelled.

Yes, it is true... we will not have to be subjected to the lunacy that is
OJ Simpson.

The original plan was to have
"Mr. Gloves-don't-fit" do a two-part TV interview entitled "If I Did It" where he was to have described how he would have killed his wife, with the book to follow.

YO OJ WE KNOW HOW YOU DID IT you slug.

We watched how your lawyers fooled the jury. No one ccould put on that pair of gloves wearing latex gloves...

About a dozen Fox TV outlets had already said they would not air the show.

Time to go back to your hole and let the families of
Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown rest.

St. J - P.B.U.A.Q.B.

Thanks for sitting on THE COUCH, hope you enjoyed your stay.

Remember .. Nets For Malaria - UNFoundation.org/malaria - find the big SI's Nothing But Net logo ... Or call 202.887.9040. Every cent goes to buying nets to place over the beds of children in Africa to stomp out Malaria. PLEASE HELP.

Keep that spark of insanity kids...It helps keep you an individual.
