GOSSIP PRESENT MUSIC FOR MEN IN STORES OCTOBER 6

DIY post punk-rock trio Gossip’s first major label offering of new material, MUSIC FOR MEN, hits stores Tuesday October 6, 2009. The album has been available via all digital service providers in the U.S. since June 23, 2009. Recorded at Shangri La Studios in Malibu , CA , Music For Men was produced by multi Grammy Award winner Rick Rubin. Music For Men finds Gossip taking drummer Hanna Billie’s pulsating rhythms and guitarist Brace Paine’s raucous whaling to a whole new level. Syncopated beats, punk rock attitude, dance energy and ominous bass thumps provide the perfect canvas for the unique vocal power and range of the band’s renowned front woman Beth Ditto.

I Can't Tell You Why...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, May 15, 2008 29 Of Your Sparks

I can't tell you why...Looking for some help here. If you think you know what is happening, please let me know. I have done nothing to my template and now in the last few days, there are some people who do not see the gray background behind the posts, but see straight through to the dark blue background.

It appears to happen with both XP and Vista. So far it looks like it is only happening to people using IE. Yet, on my work laptop using XP and checking the site using IE, I see the gray background. I have seen a code that "corrects a problem with IE" on some of the templates I have worked on, but when I inserted it into my template the gray background DISAPPEARED for me on both the PC and the MAC!

This does appear to be an IE problem though. Just wondering why it just popped up.

Looks like I am going to have to roll out the new template earlier than I had planned. Maybe that will solve the problem. To those of you who are experiencing this situation, I am sorry and hope you stick with me as I try and figure it out.

Again, I ask you to let me know the OS, and browser you use and if you are experiencing this or not.

Well I guess they learned their lesson...realizing all they needed to do is get involved here on The Couch...

Columbia Records is proud to announce Neil Diamond’s Home Before Dark debuted at the number 1 spot on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart after selling 145,840 copies.

Produced by Rick Rubin, Home Before Dark is Neil Diamond’s first number 1 album of his storied 48-year career. Diamond has appeared in Billboard’s top 10 on 13 occasions, most recently with 12 Songs in 2005, which debuted at number 4.

So, just send me the music and let me write about it and you get your first #1 album!

LOL

Well down to the final two...did the producers really want the two David's to face off? Can David A. even hope to beat David C.? I find him annoying and too vanilla.

I did not have a chill moment from any of the performers this year, so maybe I am not in touch with what the public really wants. Or is this whole thing just a popularity contest with talent being secondary?

Are the young girls voting because "gosh he is just so cute and I would give anything to meet him."?

I always enjoyed Timothy B. Schmit when he was in the band Poco. He then joined the Eagles in 1978.

"I Can't Tell You Why" was written by Timothy B. Schmit, Glenn Frey, and Don Henley, and was the first Eagles song to feature Schmit (bass guitar) on lead vocals. Schmit is accompanied by Frey (piano), Henley (drums), Don Felder (electric guitar and guitar solos), and Joe Walsh (organ).

The studio version became a Top 10 hit in April of 1980, reaching #8.

Tuneage Tutelage - Music Review - Neil Diamond

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Monday, May 12, 2008 19 Of Your Sparks

NEIL DIAMOND. My experience is, there are three camps when it comes to Neil Diamond. There is, of course, the fans who L-O-V-E Neil Diamond. Then there is the camp that just do not get the attraction to Neil Diamond. And then the third camp who have always been ambivalent about Mr. Diamond.

Right here and now, I will state that I fit into the third camp for the most part. There are songs that I enjoy but I have never owned a Neil Diamond album, cassette or CD.

I was interested in hearing his new outing when I heard that Rick Ruben was the producer for this project. If you do not know Rick Ruben, THIS is from the NY Times. It is a 10 page article, so if you want Rick Ruben Lite, you can read of him HERE.

Rick Ruben produced Johnny Cash's last album and I love how he gets to the rawness of any artist he produces. So, putting Rick with Neil sounded like a choice idea.

The first thing that struck me about HOME BEFORE DARK is, even though there is a full band playing on many of the songs and even an entire string section on others, the sound of the album is basic. The main instrument you hear is Neil's voice. Behind that you can hear the guitar and piano and the rest of the instruments, but they are merely the canvas Neil Diamond is painting on.

Unlike Cash's album where Rubin selected a collection of currect songs for Johnny to craft, this album is all Neil Diamond. An album that he spent 10-months working on before even entering the studio.

On "Pretty Amazing Grace" there are layers of guitars over the strings and piano with Neil's voice weaving in and out. Tempo changes allow the song to flow out of your speakers. You can see a streaming video of the song HERE.

The CD comes with a small brochure and Mr. Diamond outlines the process by which this album took birth. He talks about isolating himself from the world and "most of all, other peoples' music", and the uneasiness this isolation causes.

The album's music comes from his faith and the feelings a new love relationship has brought to him. He speaks of how a friend told him that he should feel lucky to have "another bite of the apple"...another chance to be successful in love and that comment translates to the song "One More Bite Of The Apple", a song that will sound comfortable for Diamond fans.

On "Slow It Down", Neil looks at the world we are all caught up in, and makes the simple suggestion to "See the view, it's for you, just pay some attention" and "Forget about the competition, you're due for an intermission". The music behind the lyrics remind me of floating down the river , slowly enjoying the water carrying you along.

The album was crafted in the studio without charts for the musicians, just Neil Diamonds lyrics and chords and each song was crafted as a group effort. The backing band improvising and adding their skills.

What has been put on vinyl - YES, you can by this on vinyl also - and CD is a uplifting experience. For you Diamond fans, you will be extremely happy. For those of you in camp three, this is the album by Neil Diamond you want to add to your collection. For those of you in group two, those who are not fans, give it a try...you might just surprise yourself.
