Monday and a new week begins...

  1. Sista Monica Parker, who has recently released her 11th album, Living In The Danger Zone, a sizzling collection of contemporary blues, soul and R&B which has earned her a 2012 Blues Music Award nomination for "Best Soul Blues Female Artist".
  2.  Kenny Lee Lewis, who is a regular touring member, producer and writer for The Steve Miller Band since 1982. Kenny has a new album out with his side-project, The Barfly Bluez Band, entitled Two Ton Kitty. I am excited to explore this great musician's life and share his new music with y'all.
  3. Finally, Danika Holmes takes a seat to share her hew album with us. The album drops on Tuesday, and again I am honored to gt the opportunity to share music before it is available to the public.

    So much has gone on since I was last putting my thoughts here.  Yes, Travis...it can be a tad jittery, but your comment gave me hope it will all fall back into place.  Thanks my friend.

    I L-O-V-E Baseball and it has been difficult the last few years with all of the allegations and cases of proven juicing.  Players looking for that edge, which used to be attained by a few more hours in the bating cage or on the field is now attempted through creams and gels and pills and needles full of chemical compounds made from animals, humans and in the laboratory.

    Players have been caught after their career, and even some during their career.  Amazingly players in the minor leagues are continuing to be caught.  These young men who know the consequences these drugs will do to their bodies and to their chance to play the sport they so obviously want to play.

    Then, this off-season the reigning National League Most Valuable Player has his test come back positive.  And not just a little positive, but full-blown "Dude, did you use the spike 5 minutes before you had to pee in the cup" positive.

    I could recap it all, but I do not see the need.


    Mr. Braun, you won. STFU.  and tell your lawyer to STFU.  Alluding to the tester messing with your samples...STFU.  Having your lawyer issue statements after the tester defends himself...STFU.

    You never argued that the tester tampered in front of the Appeal Committee...you argued the sample was improperly stored...do not then come to the public and try and throw the tester under the bus...STFU

    Please...just STFU ad play baseball...

    This summer Nancy and I will be going to New York for a little vacation...That is assured, as we will also attend my 40th High School reunion.

    Amazing...40 years...and in my magic mirror I am still only 26!

    What a weekend!

    8:15pm...Just got to the apartment after dropping Nancy off at home. This is the stuff I hate. Spending a great 3 days together and then having to leave each other...

    Anyway...let me just say I am totally exhausted...Saturday night did not end until about 3:00-3:30am...checked out of the hotel, visited with two good friends and then the flight home...

    Will have the pictures and story - or minutia as Doctor Blogstein would call it - for ya'll tomorrow.

    I am laughing at the "heck-a-doodles" being bandied about...

    Busy week with Mom Joan & Dad Vince arriving on Thursday as they make their way to San Antonio and Brother Rich's family for Christmas...and ummm...there is this thing called shopping that has not even begun.

    Going to lay down on the bed, watch my NY Giants play Dallas and open the Christmas cards I received yesterday while we were away.

    Have a very cool Monday all...

    Lights...Camera...Music Tomorrow...

    Was planning on reviewing and giving away two CDs of Christmas music I have received, but this weekend got away from me.

    Saturday, I designed my Christmas card and had to put together some 'bumpers" for the Radio Happy Hour - and then off with Nancy and the boys to find a Christmas tree.

    Then Sunday, I began printing the cards (they are going out this week) and then watch my NY Giants. Unfortunately the Giants lost, but with the Dallas loss, my Giants clinched the Eastern Conference Championship!

    Then it was on to hanging lights at Nancy's. That took a loooong time, as she has two high peaks and if you know me, you know that heights and I do not get along. But up the ladder I went...

    Well, got it done, but by then it was dark. I then realized that something had to be done with the two main windows in the front of the home and I began working on them.

    Well, one of the strands of lights I had were dead as anything, so I need to get another set to finish.

    We never even got the tree decorated, so that will be the assignment for this evening.

    I really was delighted that I could decorate a home again...it has been two years since I have done so.

    By the time I got home, it was after 9 and I am exhausted. The combination of climbing the ladder and the cold and the long day...well I need some rest.

    Anyway...come back tomorrow for the reviews, and for a chance to be awarded one of the two albums. They are both top notch...believe me!

    A bet is a debt of honor...

    Yesterday is over...

    Well by the time you read this it will be...thankfully...it was not a great day personally...but we have moved on and left the wreckage of February 5th, 2008 in the ditch where it belongs...

    And the last humdinger of the day was the tornado sirens blaring as a warning and the live shots of tornadoes within 5 miles of our home...and the mall about two miles away sustaining severe damage with injuries...

    So, if we did not make it to your blog yesterday, we apologize...our mood was just too dark...


    On Tuesday, the fans of the NY Giants gathered along the "Canyon Of Heroes" in Manhattan...From Battery Park, up Broadway to City Hall...the traditional route for parades in NYC...the route that gave the term 'ticker-tape parade' it's name...In the 30's and 40's and 50's and 60's the financial houses which had their offices on that route would shred the 'ticker-tape' and throw it out the window as the parades passed...

    What is 'Ticker-tape'? Well...The origin of the term ticker tape came from the sound made by the machine as it printed, and tape simply refers to the machines using a paper tape printout as a rolling display of stock prices. In 1867, Edward A. Calahan of the American Telegraph Company invented the first stock telegraph printing device. Early versions of stock tickers provided the first mechanical means of conveying stock prices ("quotes"), over a long distance over telegraph wiring

    A few arrests were made for disorderly conduct, but the wonderful thing is there apparently there were no cars burned, no stores broken into, no one sent to the hospital which seems to be the norm in other cities when their teams win Championships.

    Good Monday all....

    How was your weekend? Ours was pretty good...we went pre-shopping for our new iMac and have pretty much zeroed in on a 20" monitor and 350gb hard drive. We will probably up the memory to 2gb from the 1gb the computer ships with to allow for faster draw when using Photoshop and allow us to have more programs open at once. That was our problem with the old mac...we would have iTunes, Photoshop, Illustrator and Firefox all running at the same time and the poor little thing just could not handle it. Still not sure if we will get the wireless keyboard, but will certainly get the wireless mighty mouse, which offers trackball scrolling and two-button options...

    Totally cool and graphics are incredible...Just do not think we will be able to get it until mid-February, so our music stored on the old one and any graphics programs are unusable until then...



    Saturday evening we went and celebrated the 83rd birthday of Nancy's mom, Mama Dot...we brought along an antipasto which went over pretty well...had a real nice time with the entire family and then had CAKE....yummo cake...apple with a caramel frosting made from fresh apples received from Vermont...also had a small piece of homemade pecan pie which was just deLISH...



    Sitting watching the San Diego / New England game...not sure the Chargers have a chance, but they put a 3 and out on Tom Brady on his first possession and now are moving the ball...

    Chargers could not get in the end zone...once again the Patriots looked like they could be had, but held off the competition and will be going to the Super Bowl...

    Time for the Giant and Green Bay...as our good friend Dixie mentioned on her blog, we have a $5.00 bet on this game as she takes the team from Wisconsin and we are backing our Giants...BIG BLUE is ready for this game and we expect them to play well...going to be bitterly cold up there, they are saying this will be the third coldest game played in NFL history.

    The coldest game was the 1981 AFC championship game, played Jan. 10, 1982, at Cincinnati’s Riverfront Stadium. The temperature was minus-9, and the wind chill plunged the readings to minus-59 as the Bengals beat San Diego 27-7.

    Next was the Ice Bowl on Dec. 31, 1967 for the NFL title at Lambeau Field. The Packers beat Dallas 21-17 on Bart Starr’s quarterback sneak in the final seconds. It was minus-13 that day and the wind-chill factor was estimated at minus-48.

    Should ONLY be about -25 with the wind chill tonight in Green Bay!

    10 - 6 at halftime...Giants almost put the ball in the end zone near the end, but the pass was dropped...arg....

    CRAP...Toomer drops an easy pass...Eli Manning has been plagued with an NFL leading 47 dropped passes this season...OH for some stick-em...hehehehehe

    END OF THE WORLD ALERT: FOX will be having a Red Carpet for the Super Bowl with Ryan Seacrest hosting....WTF!!!!!!!????

    We have just heard the report on "Heater-gate"...on the sidelines they have benches for the players that are supposed to have hot air blown into them to provide some warmth...seems on the Giants sideline the air being blown into them is only lukewarm...

    GB finds out penalties will kill ya every time... 13 -10 Giants...then the Giants give up a long kick-off return...sheesh

    And the Giants learn that penalties will kill you...giving GB a TD...arggggggggggggg...

    And the third time is the charm for the Giants field goal kicker and BIG BLUE is headed for the SUPER BOWL!

    The defense really shut down Green Bay all game...

    NE already 14 point favorites???? NE has not covered in about 6 weeks...way too many points IMHO

    On our way to Chicago today for another press approval. Will be there overnight and returning later on Tuesday. Should be a bit chilly there also...was only about 26 Sunday here in the Memphis area....

    Dug into our collection for today's Tuneage...just reached in and grabbed the first CD that hit our hand...we will say we did reach into the jazz section...Came up with The Count...

    The Count died of pancreatic cancer in Hollywood, Florida on April 26, 1984 at the age of 79...he left us with a legacy of brilliance...
