Differences. The difference between you and I. The difference between me today and me tomorrow. Things change all the time and that impacts how we look at things in our lives and in the world around us.

the differences is what makes this world exciting I believe.

Robin Williams did a routine years ago where he is an old man, talking to his grandson on the front porch of his home. he is telling the child about how differences are good and he ends by saying (paraphrasing here) 'you have to keep that little spark of madness, because if you lose that....nothing'

I actually found a short clip of that skit...it is only 25 seconds...

If you look, where I ask for comments, it says "6 of your sparks"...that is where that comes from, the sparks of madness...because I believe that you must cultivate those sparks you are given. They are what makes us different and makes us more fun to hang around.

If we were all the same, then this would be one boring ass world.

Monday, Travis talked about seeing a hurt Jay Cutler on the sidelines after he left the game. I saw something different - a guy who didn't seem to care. Differences...and we were able to discuss our sides in a calm manner.

That has not always happened around here or other places in my life. Confrontation seems to be the goal for some people and after a time, I can no longer be around those who only care about confrontation, not the issues and discussing them.

Our political system has degraded into this recently and it is scary that it is allowed to flourish with new television networks being born out of the vitriol.

Have a different opinion from the person on 'the other side of the aisle'...PLEASE have a difference...but learn to express that difference without degrading your opposition.

We have seen what happens when those with the ability to be heard continually disparage and degrade their opposition.

How about we see what happens when we treat our opposition with CLASS - DIGNITY - RESPECT

I always stressed those words to Matt as he grew up. I taught them to the different sports teams I coached. Telling them if they did not use CLASS - DIGNITY - RESPECT in regards to their opponent that they would not get playing time and when they were on the receiving end of vitriol and nasty comments from the other team it was even more important to respond with CLASS - DIGNITY - RESPECT and show them that it is better to lose AND win with those three virtues...

When we went on the cruise this past Thanksgiving, Matt called early and told me he had 'gotten inked'. Something he had talked about since he was 18. Some of his ideas caused me to cringe. I always said 'do what you want, but remember it is for ever, so it better mean something'.

Well, this is the ink he had done...I was quite literally honored, that my words had resonated over the years....

The 11 day business trip became 5 days with some good work from the plant and us not having to spend hours trying to reach proper color...

Flew home Friday. Just in time for snow...or so they say. It is 10:40am on Sunday and the skies certainly look like they could bring snow, but as I watch the reports on TV, I am not convinced.

3 inches of snow here will shut down the roads. We will see...

Big upset by the Seahawks on Saturday. I am still not convinced a conference champ with a losing record should get to host a first round game, but them are the rules.

Jets stole the second game from the Colts. Or did they? Throughout the game, the Jets defense continually stopped Mr. Manning on third down and that is exactly what they did on the Colts last drive. If they Colts get that first down, it is probably game over, bye bye Rex and company.

Mark Sanchez stepped it up at the end of the game indeed.

OH and ummmm Coach Caldwell, why did you take a time out during that last Jets drive? Your desire at that time is to keep the clock running. THAT was not so smart dude.

REALLY???? We now have terrorists in our midst over our political discourse???? That is what this a**wad who tried to assassinate Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and did kill U.S. District Judge John Roll, 63; Christina Greene, 9; Giffords aide Zimmerman, 30; Dorothy Morris, 76; Dorwin Stoddard, 76; and Phyllis Scheck, 79.

Green is the grand daughter of former NFL Coach Dennis Greene - former Cubs general manager Dallas Green (thank you Songbird, I am not sure how I messed that one up!) ...they are all innocent bystanders of a lunatics belief that if you disagree with the political stand of an elected official you can eliminate them with a weapon instead of a ballot.

Let's not discuss the use of cross-hairs from a rifle sight used in campaign literature when certain political types 'target' a seat for takeover.

Let's not discuss the trend by politicians to use firearms in their ads to prove they are 'American'.

Before we plunge ourselves into a cesspool of years of inter-turmoil, we need to find a way to heal...

Because, if we don't then the terrorists from the outside will be able to do whatever they please as we battle internally.

So, this post was originally set for Tuesday, but dear old Blogger decided to ONCE AGAIN take a scheduled post and reset it to DRAFT!!!!

Then I awoke and had like 4 more comments on my Monday post and decided to let it sit for a second day.

I have always posted 5 days a week (except for those raw times and scheduled hiatuses) but I am wondering, with the reduced traffic, if it makes sense to continue to do so...more on this to come...

And again today, the same thing...is Blogger trying to tell em not to post anymore???

The NFL could soon start suspending players for dangerous helmet hits, executive vice president of football operations Ray Anderson told The Associated Press on Monday.

A day after several scary collisions in Sunday’s games, Anderson acknowledged the league might need to do more than fining players to prevent such hits—and soon.

OK kiddies..this is freakin stupid, because it is so hard to think about this before it happens. When you begin to ask players to think about the hit before it happens, you will end up with even more injuries.

Maybe it is time to lessen the amount of equipment the players wear...get rid of all the padding that makes them feel 'safe'...

Something needs to be done before we have some really major injuries on the field...

To paraphrase Dennis Green "Cliff Lee was who we thought he was"...yup, the guy was masterful on Monday and my Yankees find themselves down 2-1 in the ALCS. Have the country is cheering and whooping it up at the moment (half...heck-a-doodle, it is probably more like 80%...

But this is my Yankee team and they are resilient. If oyu only looked at the score, it is misleading. The score was 2-0 Texas in the top of the 9th and then our normally reliable relief corps took it on the chin (think Yankee 8th inning in game 1)...

So...is it over - HELL NO
