CRASH - the sound of my last Survivor Pool pick - Thanks a whole bunch New Orleans, looking like you never played a football game together before...
I had a procedure on Friday. Been having them since I was 40 years old. The procedure today is nothing. Anesthesiologist inserts the meds, she says take a deep breath and the next thing I hear is "He looks rested"...I am about to say, "Um no, please do not start, I am awake", when I realize I am back in the recovery area.
For my first one ever, the doctor told me I could watch the TV above my head if I wanted to see what he was doing. Needless to say, I explained to him in just a few words that I was not interested.
The prep is the b**ch...the no eating the day before...the drinking the solution...nope....that is the PITA
Anyway it seems everything is fine with that.
But I also strained my left bicep and pretty much lost the full use of my left arm over the weekend. I am doing some exercises and combining heat and cold and salve.
So, overall a real uneventful weekend.

Today is Halloween! Unfortunately, it is not going to be as big a day as normal with the occurrences of the weekend and the fact that I am psyched for Music On The Couch this evening.
Two spectacular female voices join me tonight. Sunday wilde is from Northern Ontario Canada and is a barrel-house, blues steaming piano playing singer who can rip it up with the best of them.
Kelly Carvin is a young woman who my son Matt mentioned to me and then, before I could reach out, I heard from her manager asking if I wanted to book her.

Kelly is from New Jersey ad has the soul of someone brought up with 60's rock, soul and blues - yet she is only in her twenties!
Halloween treats for my guests who come sit on The Couch...and maybe a trick or two!
Had to complete two album reviews this weekend. All I can say before they are published is that one was a struggle to deal with and one was a pleasure, though difficult to write about.
Both were instrumental guitar albums. One with multiple guitar tracks and synthetic backing instruments. The other was fingerstyle acoustic guitar. Unless you go all educational and technical on technique - which I am not qualified to do - how do you describe each song? With a band or even a solo artist who has vocal, you can comment and dissect the songs.
Well, I did it and one artist is not going to be happy and one will be pleased.
Headin' to NOLA this Thursday evening to meet up with best bud Andy and his bride Janice. Have know them for almost 40 years. Due to circumstances beyond their control they could not make the wedding, so they have never met Nancy.
We will be staying at the Dauphine Orleans Hotel and seeing music on Friday and Saturday evening. Sunday might bring on an airboat tour so we can see some gators and snakes andhear banjo music no, that was Georgia. Will be their first time there and mine also! I have been in the city the night before the cruise, but did not get a chance to do anything after our family dinner. Should be a blast!

John-Alex Mason hails from southern Colorado and he is a unique artist.
His new album "Jook Joint Thunderclap" is a world boogie collaboration of master players from Chicagoland, Holly Springs, Guinea and Colorado.
On this project Mason added djembe, bolofon, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica, bass and flos to his one-man band of kick drums, electric guitars and vocals.
During the IBC this year, John-Alex performed in a showcase and it is true that his shows are a celebration and the crowd becomes a willing participant in the performance.
What are some of those instruments John-Alex is playing? What is the driving force behind his desire to incorporate all of these sounds into his music? I will chat with John-Alex and find out these and other answers.
Then the band The Sugar Prophets will sit on The Couch.
The band, less than 18 months old and with a brand new drummer were finalists in last year’s International Blues Challenge and made their presence known to the blues world.
Josh Spence-Vocals/Harmonica, Joe Asselin-Guitar/Vocals, A.J. "Apple Jack" Williams-Guitar/Vocals, Al Chapman-Bass, Vince "Fuzz" Elam-Drums combine to create a fresh sound. They released their debut self-titled album and it is a winner. All original numbers with some tight playing and top-notch lyrics.
What is next for the band and what did they learn from their appearance in Memphis? We will discuss that and more.
