AMERICAN IDOL – THE 8 LADIES

Well, it can not be as horrible as last night…this is where the main talent lies this year.

I think the judges were kind when they said 4 of the men deserved to move on…
THE COUCH puts that number at three…

Paula had to do something for Randy under the desk???? WOOOOOOOO can you say … ummm no I can’t

JORDIN SPARKS: One of our spoilers in past weeks…she came out a bit pitchy tonight…Got better in the middle of the song and think she did well enough to move on. If she finds her place, she could be here a long time.

SABRINA SLOAN :Again, came out pitchy and shaky..and found herself in the middle. NOT her best performance by a long shot. Pounded the last note and showed her pipes…but not the best. Solid…unfortunately the song choice did not help her. She will be back next week.

ANTONELLA BARBA: OK, her friend should have been here and this girl needs to be home sitting on toilets and posing naked… Horrible performance… Pitchy…raspy…a wreck…then the judges rip her again and call out to America “It is a singing competition NOT a beauty show… she should NOT be back.

HALEY SCARNATO: OH NO… last big chance and she picked a bad song and then sang it badly…very boring …no life… no personality… yawwwwwwn.. could have been part of the boy’s night …did I say yawn???

STEPHANIE EDWARDS: Excellent performance…sweet notes… great phrasing…big last note… got a little pitchy in the middle, but otherwise…Stephanie could be a real spoiler (We know – we said that already). Stephanie is totally here next week.

LAKISHA JONES: OH MY…this girl just makes the chills come up and down the spine…I am not sure it was her best performance, but it was incredible… She WILL be back.

GINA GLOCKSEN: Well she is taking some advice and reverted to her rocker personality…She showed she has a real powerful voice and can work a song and the stage. Got a bit pitchy and lost the singing a bit, but it shows she deserves to be here and whould be in the 12 next week.

MELINDA DOOLITTLE: When she first started, we were a bit nervous...could she do the phrasing needed for this very difficult song? WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW....the answer is (just like our mystery group), Y-E-S!!! She brings so much fun to the stage and enjoys herself and can sing like the dickens…She received the Pimp Spot and took it by the neck and just owned it… once again…I got chills all over. At this point the odds on favorite to win the whole thing in our opinion.

[couchdivider.gif]

THE COUCH’S TOP TWO:
MELINDA DOOLITTLE
GINA GLOCKSTEN

THE COUCH’S BOTTOM TWO:
ANTONELLA BARBA
HALEY SCARNATO

Let’s see if the little boys who are voting for her take Doc Blogstein’s advice and not vote for Antonella. Guys, let her go and then Playboy will come calling and you can see even more of her.

Results tomorrow….

Midweek Musical Meme & Eight Males

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, March 07, 2007 14 Of Your Sparks

AMERICAN IDOL – 8 GUYS

BLAKE LEWIS: Another song of the same style – hip hop/R&B…Has not shown any versatility so far…Not saying he doesn’t do it well, but what happens when we get to the themes? Blake, thank you for not beat-boxing though. Not bad…He has been better.

SANJAYA MALAKAR – oh no…the voice is just not ready…Squeeky, pitchy, raspy… boring…. We disliked this performance a lot. He is way out of his league.

SUNDANCE HEAD: Oh my… Is it our ears, or was he off-key badly at the beginning? He struggled trying to hit the notes the whole song. There was no excitement from the crowd until the end. Extremely pitchy.

CHRIS RICHARDSON: Began a little pitchy…but then pulled it back and sounded very good. Last week we questioned if he could do different styles. He listened and changed it up tonight and did a fine job. I am impressed with his choice.

JARED COTTER: During theme weeks, they make them sing tough songs. Why would someone pick Stevie Wonder on their own. You will be compared to one of the legends…and unless you are incredible, the comparison will hurt you. His weakest performance to date. Just did not make the song memorable, It wasn’t horrible… but eh….

BRANDON ROGERS: Not a great song to showcase your voice… Wrong time to bring something like this out. And I don’t think he did it very well on top of that. His timing seemed off near the end. Very forgettable.

PHIL STACEY: Very off-pitch to start…again, when he belts it, he is much better, but he hurt himself this week…his entire song was shaky – start to finish. The song was a very bad choice.

CHRIS SLIGH: Finally, someone who owns the song this week. He took advantage of the “pimp spot” and showed how off all the other guys were tonight. His vocals were the best of the evening, though not his best performance of the competition.

The guys, once again, showed how much weaker they are then the girls…It was – overall – a very boring show…

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, March 01, 2007 20 Of Your Sparks

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LADIES
They all knew our MIDWEEK MUSICAL MEME ARTIST was:

TAJ MAHAL

One of the great singers of our time,
Taj has never gotten the credit he deserves in our opinion.

Our Honorable mentions selected the wrong album...
REMEMBER, it is the first album the song appeared on,
Not the album the version of the song appeared on.

More of the great Taj below...

GINA GLOCKSTEIN: Sorry got home late and TiVo was not set correctly - missed her performance.

ALAINA ALEXANDER: All over the place. Didn’t hit any big notes. Very pitchy. Off from the music.

LA KISHA JONES: Really enjoyed Paris doing this song last year. Liked this version even more. This is the front runner this year. She knows her voice, she knows the music, she knows it all. This girl should never be nervous.

MELINDA DOOLITTLE: OH I did get a chill on that first wooooooaaahhhh, and it lasted the whole song. A real talent. Interesting that she and LeKisha sang back to back…you might be seeing them sing back to back on the final showdown show. What a voice….the notes were all perfect. Not a missed phrasing. Marvelous. Brilliant. I take it back…she is the one to beat.

ANTONELLA BARBA: Began very pitchy. Did not like the big note. She just is not that good a singer. Though overall it was a much better performance then last week. Still nothing could be that bad again. Why do people continue to sing Celine…it only brings out the worst in them. I wonder if they say "Well the judges said she couldn't sing it BUT I can..."??? When will they learn to NOT PICK ON THE JUDGES?

JORDIN SPARKS: She started off a bit rocky and then came on strong hitting some great note. She, once again, shows she has the potential to have an incredible career. She needs some more training. She will be around for a while, but I don’t think she is there until the end. Personally, I like this girl.

STEPHANIE EDWARDS: She came out stronger this week, and she was good last week. Excellent phrasing. Terrific notes. She sits right behind Melinda and La Keisha in my mind. This girl could be a spoiler down the line.

LESLIE HUNT: Immediately she showed she has a much better voice then she showed last week. The a capella opening was excellent. Still not sure her voice is powerful enough when the band comes in. The scat wasn’t the best. And the last note was a bit off. It just didn’t work overall.

HALEY SCARNATO: This girl decided to kick it up this week. She came out with a rocking hot song. The song is very much a song with a ton of background, hid her voice at times. Worked the stage well, and hit most of her notes. Last week we put her in the middle of the pack…think she moved up a few places this week.

SABRINA SLOAN:We said last week that she owned her song and had the vocal chops. If you didn’t see it then, she threw it at you tonight. Unfortunately, once again it is the last note that kills her. She has a very big voice and will be around for a while. Nicely done.

Overall a much better night then the guys. I truly wonder if they tweak the rules next year to bring the top 12 in and not make it an even split...

Ha- Dedication Week, you know that means weird videos...

[couchdivider.gif]

PHIL STACEY: Even better then last week. Was a bit pitchy, but overall was a very good performance. He is in the top of the men. As we said last week, he is much stronger when the song calls for him to be powerful,
which it did at the end, saving the song.

JARED COTTER: Nicely done. Still think he loses concentration in the middle of the song like he did last week and forced it a little too much. The song should be smoother then he made it. He was a little pitchy and his voice is a little too high pitched then is called for with a Marvin Gaye song.

A.J. TABALDO: Nope. The beginning of the song was a wreck. Bad song choice in my opinion. Did not enjoy that song.
(Of course the judges did like it more then I did…but hey.)

SANJAYA MALAKAR: He looks uncomfortable tonight…He really can’t sing this type of song...his timing felt off and I thought he was speaking the song more then singing it…and the last big note was very weak. The song choice may have also lost him his “little girl” vote also.

CHRIS SLIGH: OK, before we begin…the kid is married??? America heard this song last year and it was done much better then. Broke on the last big note. He was also a little too fast for the song. Overall a good performance, but I am
not sure it was as strong as last week.

NICK PEDRO: Very weak. The song should be smoky and to me it was “squeeky”. Not necessarily overly pitchy, though there was some pitch problems throughout... Didn’t like it.

BLAKE LEWIS: Excellent job… He did a great job with what appeared to be a tough song. Personally, we still have a problem with the beat box. To us it is an “instrument” and playing an “instrument” is against the rules of the show…
call us picky, but that is how we feel.

BRANDON ROGERS: Not real impressed once again. He hit one good note, but was screechy throughout. The voice isn't working for me…It was weak and without the backing vocals, it would have been totally lost –
Randy and Simon were so totally correct on this.

CHRIS RICHARDSON: It sounded like his performance last week. He is good with this type of music. The song worked well for him. Honestly not sure he will be able to survive theme weeks. He may prove me wrong, but when he has to sing a ballad or a rock song, I wonder if her will be able to handle it.

SUNDANCE HEAD: OK, so he decides to sing something more R&B and picks a one note song? And then he doesn’t do a great job with it. The luster is totally off Sundance for me. Ummm are you kidding me? The judges can gush all they want and America will follow along, but he doesn’t do it for me. I really liked him in the auditions… not any more.

THE COUCH SELECTS AS TOP 2 FOR THIS WEEK:
