Final Peace...Get Wells...Leaf Peeping...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, October 28, 2009 14 Of Your Sparks

For the last few weeks myself and a number of other people - TRAVIS; JULIE; SONGBIRD; ANNDI; STARR; KATHERINE; and my bride Nancy have been carrying the Peace Globe torch for our most excellent friend MIMI as she sat vigil with her family at her dad’s bedside.

We have had email threads that went over 200 emails in a day…text messages came flying across the skies at all hours of the day and night. Phones rang and hugs were felt through the lines.

Peace Globe Worker Bees were born…friendships grew and became stronger…cute security guards were eyed…pages of stories were written to someday be shared with the world.

Yesterday morning Mimi sat by her dad’s bed in the hospice and she whispered her thoughts and love to him…she reminded him that he did not have to stay and fight…that he could let go and begin his journey home…and at that moment he did.

If you have read Mimi over the years, you know that her dad and her grandfather – Papa – have been extremely strong influences in her life. Both of these fine men are now looking down on their little girl and making sure she finds the peace she deserves.

Papa’s blue marble was the inspiration for the Peace Globe movement. If you have never read that story, please find it and read it HERE. As a child, who was the person in your life who made you smile…who taught you the ways of the world…who took your hand and walked you down the street to place you had never gone before…

We all have someone like that…why not honor that person with a Peace globe and you can put their name on it and maybe the one sentence that reminds you of them…

Please stop by and give your condolences to MIMI …she is truly a remarkable woman and would be kept afloat with your kind words…

We mentioned yesterday our friend MATT-MAN had been admitted into the hospital due to pneumonia in his right lung. He is still recovering…at the same time – send some get well wishes to STARR’S daughter Kidlet, who ended up in the hospital while running a high fever and having to be tested for a possible kidney infection…so some good thoughts are required there also…and to top it off, Chicklet, the daughter of ANNDI has been home for at least 4 days running a high fever…send her some healthy squeezes…

I planned on this being all pictures from our trip this weekend – but real life keeps getting in the way of my doing that…

Nancy and I decided to head up to the Ozarks this past weekend…(YES MICKEY-T, we were going to come east, but realized we needed a three day weekend for that and just could not swing it. You are next dude...

The drive up on Saturday morning was made underneath clear blue skies…We drove up into Missouri and jumped onto the Glade Top Trail National Scenic Byway located in the Mark Twain National Forest.

The colors overall this year were somewhat muted due to too much rain in the area. While researching the area for our trip, Nancy came upon an article where the gentleman compared the New England foliage to the Ozark foliage and one thing he stated was evident. In NE the colors of the scenic views are much brighter than in the Ozarks…types of trees tend to make this the case…but in the Ozarks, when you are undercover…the colors can be quite brilliant.

Here are the pictures of our 23 mile journey down Glade Top…we took our time and got out at all 10 spots noted on the map. We never took any long hikes into the woods, but journeyed out a little.

A short time after the picture above was taken
Nancy looked down and realized she was
being covered by Ladybugs!
My Ladybug was being greeted by her namesakes!

As I mentioned the other day, we found a motel with a $49.00/nt rate and we did want to get there before it got dark…figured if it was a hole, we would eat the $49.00 and find a better place, but the Twinlakes Inn did the trick. It is situated right on Bull Shoals Lake.

We got settled and then headed out to dinner. We decided to go a tad upscale and visit the restaurant at Gastons White River Resort, which was about 2 miles down the road and right on the White River.

We had a very nice meal. They feature trout on the menu, so of course, that is what we ordered. Nancy’s with a crab meat sauce was fantastic – she told me, I can not eat crab.

My Trout Almondine was not as good…the trout was tasty, but the coated they put on it was very salty and there were more almonds on the fish than there should have been IMHO.

Then back to the room for some shut-eye…

On Sunday morning, my eyes opened at 6:30am and it was still pitch-black outside. I laid there for a while and then got up and got dressed and walked down to the lake hoping to get some sunrise pictures.

The walk through the woods to the lake was a tad spooky and it was steep as you got near the lake. There was nothing at the lake (i.e. dock etc)…and the land was not real level so it was not as easy to shoot as I had hoped.

But I think I got some cool sky shots – you be the judge…tomorrow!
