Five On Friday -

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, September 16, 2011 6 Of Your Sparks

Blogger trying to tell me something? Yesterday my header disappeared!

I see it in the correct place in the html code, but it is not showing up.

Now, maybe by the time you read this it will be back and it was a problem between photobucket and blogger, but I do not think so as other things linked at photobucket appear to be here.

WHAT IS GOING ON?????

Well, anyway...TIME FOR FIVE ON FRIDAY!

Check out the other participants by clicking on the link to the left...and join in!

You can register for free at playlist.com and type in a band name and BAM the song will be there to assist in building your playlist.

Travis lays out some guidelines for this meme and they go like this:

1. Grab the banner, make your post title Five on Friday, and be sure to link back here.

2. Go to Playlist.com to make your play list of five songs. Choose a particular theme to share with us. You can simply post the play list, or you can add a little summary about what you are sharing.

3. No tags, but feel free to invite your friends to play along if they need a post topic on a Friday.

One of the great vocal groups of the 60's-70's...It began as just CSN and all came from successful groups; The Hollies(Graham Nash), The Byrds (David Crosby and Buffalo Springfield (Stephen Stills).

Neil Young joined in mid 1969 to round out the groups sound. With Dallas taylor on drums and Greg Reeves on bass guitar.

They band had one show, in Chicago opening for Joni Mitchell, before they were thrown into the biggest musical event ever... Woodstock!

The rest is history..with band fights, Young in and out of the band...lots of tension...but when they did it (and still do it at times), the sounds they make are so very special. And special deserves an extra track...so 6 this Friday

ENJOY!

HAVE A GRAND WEEKEND!

The Queen's Meme...smoke 'em if ya got 'em...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, August 12, 2009 19 Of Your Sparks

Every week, the Queen Of Meme, the glorious MIMI, puts up another meme at her palace. If you wold like to visit, just click on the graphic above.

Now, if you end up in the dungeon for any of the 10,000,000,000,000,000 reasons the Queen seems to come up with, y'all just reach out to me and I will have my band of merry pranksters break you out quick as two shakes of a lamb's tail.

This week, the Queen put on her Birkenstock's and jeans and flannel lumberjack shirt, pulled her hair back into a pony-tail and tied it with a wreath of sunflowers grabbed a lighter and a bong and came up with this ditty...

The scene: You are at Woodstock. You go alone but meet up with a beautiful man/woman. You spend three days together.

Put yourself inside the peace & love vibe. You can choose to be stoned or straight. I put it in the story for the sake of reality. Just don't inhale in this meme.
This is the conversation you have upon meeting or you can make it into what you overhear others say.

It makes no sense and has no continuity by design.

You must fill in the familiar blanks to finish the story. Some are song lyrics. You may use more than one word to fill in the blanks. (The blanks will be shown in my purple)

Oh! I forgot to tell you (must be the smoke in here) You have a new name. It must a combination of the first letter of your first name, the third letter of your middle name and the last letter of your last name.
Peace out! Somebody might wanna turn on a fan in here.

1. "Hello, my groovy name is VNI.

By the looks of those flowers in your hair, you must be Melanie.

Didn't they tell you? No Sha-na-na allowed!

2. Come on, Baby, light my Canned Heat .

When I lay me down to Swami Satchidananda I pray the HECK-A-DOODLE my Ravi Shankar to keep.

If I Bert Summer before I wake, I pray the Band my Tim Hardin to take. (Hey, this is Woodstock...well, they didn't use condoms much back then...or did they?)
**puff puff**

3. Because the first time ever I saw your Hendrix I realized that what the world needs now is Ten Years After a sweet Incredible String Band. Besides, I always feel guilty watching you Quill when I should be climbing a Mountain.
But I dig it!

4. Have I told you lately that Creedance Clearwater Revival(s) you? Hey! Don't step on that Santana !!
Dude. That guy is really weird but.....

5. There's a party in my sleeping bag and half a million of my Sly & The Family Stone friends are coming over tonight and we're gonna Jefferson Airplane my baby off my mind. Darn the luck. It's raining Crosby Still Nash & Young

Luckily, Papa was a Joe Cocker and I'm on a first name basis with the cops.
**puff puff**

6. I'm really digging your Blood Sweat & Tears but that Sweetwater has got to go. Those flowers in your hair are beginning to smell like The Grateful Dead.
Have I told you lately that The Who you?
** puff puff**

7. I'm beginning to see Richie Havens in those trees over there. Do you see it?
Out of all the millions of hippies here, you are the most Johnny Winter.

But I dig it, man.

**puff puff**

8. I'd use all my blood, sweat and Keef Hartley just to get next to your Joan Baez.

Love is free but I'd really like to buy that guy's Paul Butterfield.
It says "Make joints not Country Joe McDonald. " Far out!

9. I'm grateful to be Janis 'cause there's a bad Joplin rising in Jefferson's Airplane. But that's okay, 'cause Joe Cocker said I could get by with a little John Sebastian from my friends.

10. Oh, by the way, your Arlo Guthrie is on fire. But I dig it.

Anyone got a light???

I was able to mention all 32 bands that played at the original Woodstock Music & Arts Fair in 1969. OK, so some of them sort of worked, some of the worked and some of them were very very poor selections...but I think I stayed within the spirit of the meme...unless that is reason # 765,987,562,091 in The Queen's "Dungeon Offenses Handbook"....

Finally...OK, the picture...this is 1970 - 16 years old at a party where we were the band for the evening...

Maybe music will soothe our savage Queen...

Had a great weekend with Andy...we hit the local place on Friday night with burgers and cocktails...then came back and watched some baseball...

Saturday out and downtown...drove to Tom Lee Park on the river and then parked and walked through downtown over to Beale Street...

Walked the entire two blocks stopping for beers once...ummm...yeah once...it was hot out but beautiful!

Ended up at B.B. Kings...seems everyone wants to see the original...Great band playing with a 20-year old guitar player Corey Osborne. Kid played a great guitar...yes he did...

Went to Corky's that night for dinner and were debating on calling a cab and heading back to Beale...ended up buying a couple bottles of wine and enjoying them...

Sunday we went back downtown and did the Sun Records Tour - #3 for me...three different tour guides...the one with mom and dad has been best so far...

Drove over to Graceland...Andy decided he didn't need to tour...headed back home..had some wings and nachos for lunch and a big 'ole bowl of pasta with meat gravy for dinner...

Up at 4:30 yesterday morning and took him to the airport....was great to spend time and catch up and bitch and moan and laugh and drink and eat together again...

Been a long and busy day...
If you listen...enjoy the music...

Today's selection is from Roosevelt Raceway on Long Island. A horse track, they held the concert on the infield.

It began as an overcast day, the rain came during the day, then it cleared...

It was September 8, 1974 R.I.T. was on a trimester schedule so we began school later than most and we were still home and were leaving the next day to get there before the freshman orientation began and get the radio station running...

So, happy we stayed an extra day... this was a special concert...

Crosby, Still Nash & Youngand then we found a copy of the concert and can relive it over and over...

Remember...it a live recording made by a fan...

[couchdivider.gif]

OH...And it seems many of our guests enjoyed the thought of me as a woman...

here is a peek...

want the rest?

BEG FOR IT!
