Look who I met....

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, March 23, 2010 10 Of Your Sparks

So last week while in Chicago on business I got to meet two people whom I had wanted to meet for a while. Both blog, but not regularly...they do have a TWO BlogTalk Radio show which is one of the top rated show on the network and the male portion of this dynamic duo also helps with the Radio Happy Hour.

Of course I am talking about the infamous, funny, delightful ANNIE & BURL!!!!

They brought along the funny, sweet Kimmehkins who took these pictures and there were also some of her, but she refuses to share...pout pout

We met at my hotel and then headed over to The Cheesecake Factory across the street where we laughed for the next two hours. There were people sitting on both sides of us and I can guarantee that they went home that night and discussed those "four insanely weird people" they were seated next to.

The subject ranged from Blogtalk radio to the drunk show to whether Kim and Annie would get crazy on each other in the restaurant to whether Burl and I would get crazy on each other in the restaurant. No, there was no hot sex in the restaurant...but maybe there was some outside the restaurant! But I will never tell, because what happens in The Cheesecake Factory (or it's parking lot) stays in The Cheesecake Factory.

BUT --- there are pictures!

Our first meeting at the hotel

We are all friends...grab away

That is Annie's hand reaching for my ah... (she was three feet away)

One last picture on the bench

Friends for life...

Tonight on The Radio happy Hour...

Sultan Sharrief is the director behind the Sundance Film Festival break out hit, Bilal’s Stand. The Hollywood Reporter is calling it “bursting with heart” and Filmmaker Magazine said the film is “full of performances that are rough around the edges but as authentic and appealing as any I’ve seen at the festival (Sundance) thus far.”

Bilal’s Stand, the movie that just played Sundance Film Festival, Pan African Film Festival and Berlin Film Festival is based on Sultan’s journey and tells the story of Bilal, a Muslim Black Detroit high school student and his struggle to pursue his dream of higher education over continuing the family taxi stand business.

Sarah Dillon is the president of GoGirl, a company that sells the GoGirl female peeing device. The funnel like device allows women to pee standing up.

This week:
CHARLIE MORRIS
SITS ON
THE COUCH

Charlie Morris, guitar player extraordinaire, will join us to talk about his musical journey and where the road ahead is leading him.

As I reviewed on The Big Leather Couch in January 2009 - "He knows how to pick a guitar and make it sing. There is that down-home blues/rock and roll quality about his songs that makes my feet begin tapping as soon as he hits the first note. In concert, he and the band have that funky tightness that might remind you of bands like Little Feat."

Fresh from another tour of Switzerland (his 10th year doing so), Charlie will be calling in from Florida with stories of the tour. As always, we will share music from Charlie and the band and I will take your calls at 1.347.633.9400.

The live interactive chat room opens 20 minutes before show time. Follow this link HERE and click on the Chat Now icon.

Remember, unless you take the two minutes to register, you will not be able to participate in the chat room or send me questions to ask Charlie, but you will still hear the show.

So tune in on Monday evening or, you can always listen anytime after the show ends from the player HERE or the one over on the top left and you can download from my iTunes page HERE. You can even subscribe there and the show will be downloaded to your iTunes every week...no muss no fuss

Excellent news...Mr. Chris Huff was released from the hospital yesterday and is now home with his loving wife and beautiful daughter. I am hopeful we can arrange a new date for Chris to sit on The Couch very soon.

I know he appreciates all the good thoughts sent his way.

Tomorrow, pictures of the infamous meeting last week with Annie & Burl and Kimmehkins - though she did not include ANY of herself when she sent me the shots...GIRL...Get me a picture with YOU in it!

How badly did your NCAA Bracket get blown apart this weekend? All I kept hearing in my head was Bill Murray from the movie "Stripes" when they are asked where their Sargent is and Murray yells "BLOWN UP SIR!!!" cause mine took a flaming dive with the ouster of G'Town and Texas and then Kansas (even though I still have W. Virginia winning the whole thing)

Happy Birthdays and a great meet...

YUP YUP YUP - my stomach hurt after my time with Annie, Burl and Kimmehkins...we laughed the entire time. They are real folks...what you see of them on their blogs, on BlogTalk Radio and on Twitter is who they are.

Thanks for coming out and meeting me gang...Kimmehkins, you have all the photos..please email some to me, OK?

Hey gang...please say a prayer for my scheduled guest from last night CHRIS HUFF who was admitted to the ICU unit two hours before showtime.

Chris is a wonderful guy and a devoted father and I wish him a speedy recovery.

Also, please check out the show for a real pro who jumped in at the last moment - thanks Twitter, see there is a real reason to use it! - CHRIS HUDGINS.

Chris is very talented and is about to hit the road for some shows which will be posted on his facebook and MYSPACE page.

The last minute flurry of activity resulted in this short post today.

BUT...tomorrow, I get to meet the infamous, wonderfully talented, awesomely cool ANNIE AND BURL!!!!! during my trip to Chicago. So look for pictures and stories!

Enjoy

Thursday Tidbits....

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, February 11, 2010 20 Of Your Sparks

So, at this point I have no idea how the Name That Tune Death Match turned out, but for my sake I hope I did not bomb badly!

OH I BOMBED...major league choke artist...total loser...stick a fork in me, I am done...the brain immediately locked up and I could not evn identify the simplest of songs and artists...C-H-U-M-P

CONGRATS TO ANNIE, who giggled at me the whole time as I stumbled and bumbled

WTF is going on with this weather? I loved reading that some in the Washington area are blaming it on our President. Seems President Obama made a comment when he was elected about missing the snow of Chicago...and now people have found a way to blame him for something else!

Charlie Wilson, the former congressman from Texas whose funding of Afghanistan's resistance to the Soviet Union was chronicled in the movie and book "Charlie Wilson's War," died Wednesday. He was 76.

The preliminary cause of death was cardiopulmonary arrest. If you have not seen the movie, you must. It really chronicles many of the mistakes made by the US which led to bin Laden being able to start his war of terror. Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman are all superb.

When the Russians withdrew, the US decided to pull all of it's support from Afghanistan, thus resulting in the Afghan people being bitter after promises had been made.

Hugh Hefner has lived the high-life for years, but now things may be changing slightly...seems Hef has been sued by a shareholder who wants the Prince of p***y to sell the empire. Recently Hef has "sabotaged two potential deals in the last six months to sell the company at a decent price".

The suit also alleges that the issue price of Playboy $5.99 is even higher than the stock price.

This could get into a jello wrestling match real soon...

Friday fleeting thoughts...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, January 08, 2010 18 Of Your Sparks

Thanks to all for the suggestions regarding the text spam...good friend DANA from "Amid Life's Crisis" did remind me that as a Verizon subscriber I can go onto my account and block the phone numbers I do not want to receive text messages from...all is good and safe in the world again!

So, it seems that Little Ms. Annie of ANNIE & BURL LIVE on BlogTalk Radio has challenged me to a duel to the death contest of Name That Tune. The two kids were doing their show last evening and The Burl (he is know to all his friends, relatives and creditors as THE Burl) mentioned my new show "Music On The Couch" which will premier on February 8th at 9:00pm central time (shameless plugs will continue!) and Annie feels like she can beat me in this musical trivia contest...

The challenge has been accepted and now we await a time and place for me to show the world that she can not compete with me....

y'all know I am now going to lose this contest by a landslide and look like a dang fool...but what the heck-a-doodle - it should be fun anyway.

So, yesterday I was working on booking some additional guests for the show and stopped by the website of a gentleman we reviewed here on The Couch last year...Mr. Charlie Morris, who is one hell of a musician and songwriter.

I knew Mr. Morris spends time in Switzerland each year and was looking at his schedule when something on the front page caught my eye...

I was really floored to see it and it made me smile!

Since it is that time of year, let me announce I will NOT be giving up meat or bread or pasta or anything else for Lent...

Just needed to clear the air on that...

Traveling back to Dallas on Monday and will be there through Wednesday, but this trip is not as intense as the last one, so I should be visiting and posting the whole time...I just hope it gets a little warmer before I go.

HAVE A DANG FINE WEEKEND ALL
