Peace - Dancing - Ruby Tuesday - Screech...One HECK of a post!

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, October 13, 2009 13 Of Your Sparks

YES...I know - it was supposed to say SWEEP yesterday, not swwep...or maybe I meant to spell it that way! Or maybe I wanted to spell it SWWWWWWEEEEEPPPPPP...

Remember, only 22+ days until the BlogBlast For Peace. Get your Peace Globes going…

TRAVIS of "Trav's Thoughts" and ANNDI of "Anndi's Transition" used this yesterday and it is very cool...

You can find your template HERE.

You can read about Papa’s blue marble in the wooden bowl on the piano HERE

And please take a few minutes and read Mimi's post from last year entitled "The Doll Box" HERE...don't forget your tissues...

Join us on Facebook HERE

Follow us on Twitter HERE

Join us on Blogger Unite HERE

We even have an iPeace Group HERE

It is such a simple thing, yet...if we can get more bloggers involved we can get more publicity for this cause. How will you feel if you are watching your nightly news and you see a story about a world-wide group of bloggers who all posted Peace Globes on November 5th? It could happen people!

Say a prayer for Mimi and her family please...

There was DANCING last night and today TRAVIS of "Trav's Thoughts" gives you the low-down...remember to check him out and find out which star tripped the light fantastic and which star just tripped!

All you need to do is click on the graphic to get to
the rest of the RUBY TUESDAY posts...

Our hostess Mary saw the 'engagement photo' of Nancy and I where we both had on red tops...and suggested I use that for this weeks entry. I thought, since I have used that here, maybe I should use something new....

So, how about a blazing red sunset. I was playing with different settings one evening and this is one of the many results I obtained. It was shot at focal length of 34mm with a shutter speed of 1/8 and aperture setting of f/11.0 - can't say this is not RED! (clickie for biggie)

Almost forgot..check us out tonight on the Radio happy hour when our guest will be SCREECH - otherwise known as Dustin Diamond, the lovable dork on the hit NBC Saturday-morning sitcom “Saved By the Bell.”

Now, after a few spots on reality television, some celebrity boxing and a leaked sex tape, Diamond adds 'author’ to his resume with the release of Behind the Bell, a tell-all describing sex and drugs on the set of the popular show.

We will also be chatting with Larry Johnson, the former chief operating officer turned whistle-blower of the controversial Alcor Life Extension Foundation, a company that researches, advocates for and performs cryonics, the preservation of humans after legal death in liquid nitrogen, with hopes of restoring them to full health when new technology is developed in the future.

Johnson has written Frozen: My Journey into the World of Cryonics, Deception, and Death, an expose alleging, among other things, the mistreatment and damage of the remains of Hall of Fame baseball legend Ted Williams.

And finally we have, Simone Sinclaire the CEO and founder for EstablishedMen.com.

Simone was featured in a 2009 Super Bowl commercial for the company. This national exposure helped her land the job as host of HDNet’s new spin-off series “New York Confessions”.

During her stint as host of the provocative series, Simone will be hitting all of New York City’s hottest nightclubs, and finding beautiful people willing to share their craziest confessions – ranging from sex to drugs to rock n’ roll, and everything in between.

YO FOLKS...Sex, Drugs, ROCK & ROLL and Ted Williams' head...how much more fun can you cram into 90 minutes???

A Challenge, A Sky and A Birthday...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, October 02, 2009 15 Of Your Sparks

On November 7th, 2006 I became part of a very special group. A group of bloggers who took the idea of a woman many of us did not even know and we began to try and change the world one blog at a time.

We were a small group back then...and each year we grow stronger and stronger. There are some who scoff and say "What can my putting a Peace Globe on my blog do?" I ask to those people, "If you don't participate in BlogBlast For Peace and put a Peace Globe on your blog, then nothing at all can be done."

One hand, holding another and then another and soon there are thousands of hands and then tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands and soon we can have millions.

You can stand on the sidelines and snicker and say "It can't help" or you can step up and join in and find out what we can do as one

This November 5th, just a short 33 days from today, we will celebrate three years of BlogBlast For Peace and Peace Globes and the call Dona Nobis Pacem. Three years of spreading the word about a blue marble sitting in a bowl on top of a piano and how that blue marble inspired one woman to stand up and ask the question "What can we do to stop the proliferation of violence throughout the world."

That woman MIMI of "Mimi Writes" inspired a few back then. And I was lucky enough to have found out about it and joined. Many of you who sit on The Couch heard my call and joined in...Now there are Peace Globes all around the world...literally - over 40 countries were represented last year.

So scoff if you must...stick your head in the sand and say "A Peace Globe on my blog will not make a difference"...I say "BULLS**T...we have already made a difference."

Each day until November 5th, we will remind you of this great event. Mimi is dealing with a personal situation and yesterday my most excellent friend TRAVIS from "Trav's Thoughts" and I decided that we must take up the challenge while she tends to her situation.

If you would like to help Mimi, then each day for the next 33, post a small message on your blog promoting BlogBlast For Peace..she has done so much for so many people in so many ways...it is now time for us to help her in her time of need.

Get your Peace Globe template HERE. And if you need help putting your Globe together, send me an email at yoursbond@yahoo.com and tell me what you want it to say and I will assist you.

The first year, I did not even have a Peace Globe, but I had words that meant something to me...and lyrics from two songs that resonated for me that year. That post can be found HERE.

What will your blog say on November 5th, 2009 and will it make a difference in the world?

Check out "Looking At The Sky Friday" participants by clicking on the banner above and heading over to Crazy Working Mom's site.
As I mentioned, I have many sky shots from Jamaica. This was early in the morning, as no one was on the beach as of yet...The cloud formation looked so threatening, yet so passive. It reached so high into the sky...

Enjoy...

OK, I will admit upfront...I stole this from our birthday gal, who used to to celebrate the birthday of another of our shoe-loving friends Turnbaby...

But I did a google search for "birthday cake, shoes" and dang it if it did not pop us...so I changed then name and there ya go...

Please head over to visit our wonderful friend ANNDI of "Anndi's Transition" and wish her a HUGE HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Her special day is tomorrow...so make sure you stop by...

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

Thursday Tidbits...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, December 11, 2008 33 Of Your Sparks

Man it has been raw here in Memphis the last few days. Now Memphians keep saying it is cold, but it is only about 40 degrees or so, and that is not really cold. But it is raw...which is when it is chilly, damp, rainy and the temperature just sneaks through every inch of your body.

Now, I know many of you up North with snow on the ground are saying "p-f-f-f-f-t to you...want some real winter, come on back up here and remember what winter is all about."

But when you do move south of the Mason-Dixon and you get acclimated to a warmer climate...well the word 'winter' takes on a whole new meaning...

I overheard someone say "What if all that rain had been snow...wow, that would be so cool". Well, we had about 2" - 2.5" of rain in the last 48 hours and that would equate to somewhere around 2 - 2.5 feet of snow. From my observations, if Memphis had 2.5 feet of snow everything would be shuttered tight, there would not be any bread or milk to be found for upwards of 200 miles and the roads would be littered with cars in ditches and more car crashes then at Daytona Speedway during a NASCAR Sunday.

Actually tomorrow there is a 30% chance of snow flurries and already the bread and milk is flying off the shelves. WHO EXISTS ON JUST BREAD AND MILK?????

Why are they not buying meats and vegetables????

A few of you were bothered that I was not sharing the NYE menu with y'all and BUD from "WTIT Tape Radio Blog" even called me a "sick puppy" for announcing the party and promising to show pictures to the 'uninvited'.

Then one of the guests comes along and spoils the whole thing by listing the menu in my comments. Brad, the former Mr. Fab from "Pointless Drivel" guessed the entire menu on his first try...
Appetizer: Sardines
Soup: Campbell's Tomato
Pasta: Spagetti-Os
Salad: Tossed. That will be a nice break. I haven't had that done to me since prison.
Main Course: Fish Sticks
Dessert: Popsicles

Well, other than needing Dad Vince or Anndi from "Transition" as an editor to learn how to spell Spaghetti, he almost nailed it perfectly. He did forget that along with the Fish Sticks, I would be serving Ketchup as a vegetable.

I guess I could publish the menu, but then some of y'all will be real upset you are not coming. As far as invites...for two years there has been a standing invitation to anyone who sits on The Couch to come to Memphis and as of this writing no one has taken the plunge...so...to quote y'all from above "p-f-f-f-f-f-t"

There really is a spot for two others (the neighbors will not be coming), but I am not sure there is room to sleep two more, though there is a nice hotel less than a mile and a half away...so....

And I did that without asking Nancy....rut-ro!

OK, I know y'all are waiting to hear who will be receiving the Christmas CD's by Mr. Bennett and Mr. Connick, Jr.

Well, the one by Mr. Bennett was simpler to chose than the Mr. Connick, Jr., so I will begin with that one.

COME ON DOWN, MR. PHFRANKIE BONDO from "Steamboat Slough" send me your snail mail and the Tony Bennett album will arrive before Christmas!

Actually, based upon past wins, and her incessant pleading statements of love for his music, how can I not send the album by Harry Connick, Jr. to our good friend DESERT SONGBIRD from "The Ice Box"? I have your snail mail Ms. Songbird, and will be sending Harry to your door this week.

Off to finish the Christmas cards....

This one I love...Big Jack Johnson and "I'll be Home For Christmas"

ENJOY.....

Wednesday Words....

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, December 10, 2008 31 Of Your Sparks

One of those days...begins with a smile and ends with me shaking my head...wish I could discuss it here, but the details are just not sharable at this time.

Let me just say that adults need to take responsibility for their children and themselves and sometimes you need to sacrifice for your children...no scratch that you ALWAYS have to sacrifice for your children and not think that someone else is going to bail you out of your haphazard life style.

Wow...so many people have put in their bid for the Tony and Harry Christmas albums, I will announce the recipients tomorrow.

Thanks to Mother Nature, it appears I have some fixin' to do on the lights at Nancy's home. Yesterday we had thunderstorms, torrential rains and high winds all day and some of those lights are now no longer on the home. dang dang dang...and Heck-a-doodle!!!!!!!!!

Only one person noticed I dropped the f-bomb the other day...well, not in my writing, but in one of the photos I posted...I wondered if it would be mentioned in comments and it took until the last comment from my sweet friend JULIE from "Julies Jewels & Junque" to mention it...

YET...many wondered about Heck-a-doodle...I found that amusing....giggle...YES I giggled!

Getting ready for this weekend. Nancy and I get to fly to Durham for her company's Christmas Party. All expenses paid! WOOOO! Should be a blast.

Y'all I think I have mentioned the New Year's Eve Dinner Party Nancy and I are hosting. It is going to be a blast with a 6-hour dinner being served.

I have mentioned this before, but in case you are new, we begin with Appetizers at 7:00pm and serve one course per hour until Dessert/Champagne/Celebration at midnight!.

I finalized the menu today and I am pretty happy with it.

What? You think I am telling y'all what it will be? No way! You will need to wait and see pictures after it is all done. I will say the courses are, Appetizer, Soup, Pasta, Salad, Main Course, Dessert.

The guest list is Nancy's good friends from Atlanta, her friend from Tupelo, two neighbors (they might not be coming, I am still not totally sure) and TURNBABY from "And As The World Turns" and her main squeeze MR FAB from "Pointless Drivel".

I am sooooo looking forward to it! Last year Nancy and I got to celebrate with Turnbaby and had so much fun. We are thrilled we get to do so again.

Got a little press this week on the web site for the PR firm that sends me music...unfortunately, I did not pass it along to my two editors, DAD VINCE and ANNDI from "Transition" as I now see MANY grammatical errors...OH Well! You can see it HERE

My friend PATTI from "Late Bloomer Boomer" asked if I were taking requests yesterday and requested Mr. Bennett's "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", so we will honor that request today.

ENJOY....

Tuneage Tutelage - The Allman Brothers - Wrap Up

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, October 03, 2008 18 Of Your Sparks

Want to start off by sending some Birthday wishes out today. Our most excellent friend LeeLee is celebrating her 50th today. Stop by and wish her well. She is traveling and spending her birthday with family, which is real cool, but it will be even cooler if she has all sorts of birthday wishes when she checks in. She is a big music fan and I thought this cake was appropriate for her.

Second up, this weekend the funny, sarcastic Sparky Duck celebrates a birthday and even gets to see Bruce Springsteen to celebrate. Head over and give him a quack and wish his Oregon Ducks well as they take on USC on Saturday! What other kind of cake would you give a duck?

Finally, tell Anndi Happy Birthday as she celebrates today.

Let 'em know Bond sent ya!

Gee, I have received this wonderful honor yesterday from one of our newest friends, DIANNE. I really need to arrange my awards again (hell I need to bring out the new template, but I have not had the time to tweak it)...Thank you Dianne..she said some nice words also..."I pass the Arte‘y Pico on to BOND. One of my newest friends. He truly should be a music professor, a guru of the arts. He does his homework; he presents eclectic choices in music plus all the other things his “couch” offers up."

Winners On Friday...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, September 19, 2008 21 Of Your Sparks

It is time for the announcement of the winners for the two copies of David Gilmour's new CD Live In Gdansk...

We had two people who shared their stories of their love for Pink Floyd. Actually both people spoke of their love, but mentioned daughters...It seems that my give-aways end up making two people smile, a mother and a son or daughter.

When Dana won the John Mayer CD, she shared it with her son.

For Live in Gdansk, Anndi spoke of her story, which included her daughter Chicklet...

When I was a kid in grade school, every Christmas we would pick a name of a classmate in a bag and we would buy that student a present (like Secret Santa).

We would give our secret Santa a few suggestions because there was no guarantee that your buddy was going to pick you and know which Smurfs you had in your collection and which ones you coveted (I was 10).

I wrote my name on a sliver of paper complete with my signature happy faced flower (I was 10) and one suggestion. There was only one thing I wanted really.

The big day came, we were going to exchange gifts.

Oh boy!

A boy from my class walked up to me with a big smile on his face. His name was Lee, he was Native Canadian and one of only three natives in our school. He always had red cheeks and very kind eyes.

He beemed and handed me the present he had wrapped himself.

I opened it and nearly knocked him to the ground when I hugged him.

In my hands was my very own copy of "Another Brick In The Wall II", the single aka "We Don't Need No Education". The irony is not lost on me.

My love affair with Pink Floyd started when I was 10.

Now my Chicklet is 10 and it's her turn. Monday night, she sat and listened and consoled me as I mourned Rick's passing.

It's time for her to have her own Pink Floyd. This would be a great start.

Combine that with the fact that Chicklet sprained her ankle and is on crutches...well...how can I not send one to her!

Then Patti spoke about her love of Floyd, and also how her daughter (KidOne, Allegra) loved them also and a special thrill they shared:

I have a true story...I like Pink Floyd (my era) but our daughter loves, loves, loves them.

Story: when we went on a high school trip in 2005, our tour guide in Paris and London was a musician. He and our daughter got to talking about music, and she told him how she loves Floyd.

As we were on the bus heading to Heathrow to return home, Francy (the tour guide) asked the driver to stop, so that Allegra could photograph the Battersea Power Station from the album Animals.

He did and she did. It was a great moment, and a wonderful memory. I blogged about it HERE:

So, ladies...congratulations...Anndi, I think I have your new address. Patti, send me yours and I will send you both your copies. One will be opened, as I transfered the music to my computer. Patti, your choice to keep it or share it with Allegra.
