THE LINEUP...

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, March 06, 2008 21 Of Your Sparks

WOW...fell asleep last night and when we woke up we realized we never even posted...THAT is a first...

The line-up is out...last year was FREAKIN' GREAT...this year is GOING TO BE EVEN BETTER!!!

HEY TEAMSTER!!!! We get to see Mr. Musslewhite...!!!!

Thinking Friday night is going to be a tough night. They use three stages and the Blues tent and the shows go on simultaneously - We are hoping Musslewhite, Jonny Lang, Keb Mo' and Ben Folds are not all on somewhere at the same time...and would like to see Joan Jett again...and Sheryl Crow...thinking that may be too much to ask...

Saturday the MUST is Santana (most likely main stage last of the evening...) and we would like to see Richard Johnston (he is playing all three days), Lou Reed and Blind Mississippi Morris...

Sunday is simple Black Crowes, ARETHA! and Doyle Bramhall are the must sees....

$63.00 for all THREE DAYS...this is one hell of a deal...

CHECK IT OUT!

We will feature two memes on Monday...the iPod meme we are borrowing from Travis and we will finally unveil our Message In A Bottle meme from the Queen Of The Meme's, Ms. Mimi...

We have been teasing her for the last few weeks - and she in turn refuses to score me fairly on the Comeback Challenge has been teasing me back...

We have avoided the dungeon and have even engineered a break-out but it has all been in fun...

So, our Message In A Bottle will appear then also...

AH FREAK ME - SOUND THE FREAKIN' TRUMPETS...MAKE THEM ROAR
NOW, NOW...WHY SHOULD HE NOT SPEAK ABOUT UPCOMING EVENTS...

Moving on...moving on....

So, BIG NEWS!!! Memphis is expecting somewhere between 2" and 5" of snow over the next 24 hours...today it was about 60 in the afternoon...once again, there is not a quart of milk or a loaf of bread on the shelves within 200 miles...

It is a phenomena we, from the Northeast, can not comprehend. We will of course, stay off the road as much as possible, because the natives who take to the roadways are...well, they are NOT adept at operating 2 tons or more of steel on slick roadways...let's leave it at that...

Enjoy your weekend..............................................................................................enjoy some Tuneage

OK...that show has some 'splainin' to do Lucy...

Now...remember that they told us this was "The Best Group Of Singers We Have Ever Assembled", or some hype-crap like that.... Ideocincricies

Seems they have slipped a tad when doing their "Is this person worthy of our touting them as the next 'American Idol'" background check.

YES, it is a reality show...it is manipulated like all reality shows...showing us only what they want us to see (OH, we certainly DO believe that)...we have always thought that the person who wins is supposed to fit a mold...if not musically, but from a values standpoint.

Think about it...there have been people who have been disqualified because of their backgrounds and because criminal activities have shown up in their past.

* Corey Clark was disqualified when the producers found out that he lied about his criminal history. Later, he claimed to have had an affair with Paula Abdul.

* Semi-finalist Frenchie Davis was removed from the competition when topless photos of her surfaced on an adult website purportedly featuring underage content.

* Terrell and Derrell Brittenum were twins who were featured prominently on the auditions and successfully made it past the Hollywood rounds in season 5 but were subsequently arrested for identity theft and disqualified

The have also given passes to some contestants - Taylor Hicks' teenage pot bust is one that comes to mind-

How do you think the producers feel about this little gem hitting the youtubes airwaves?

Seriously folks... there is some real bad language here, so please be aware....this Emotard (GREAT WORD Starrlight!!! We also found this from her site BTW) should be gone by the time you read these words, but if he is not - then he should be soon...whether the public votes him off, or the producers do their little voodoo and work it so he does get kicked off...

All we can say is, we never really saw him until this week, and he is just too over-the-top, flamboyant for us...

WARNING...FOUL LANGUAGE - but it is only 30 seconds....

shivers....

Then this taken from an AP story...

updated 4:09 p.m. CT, Tues., March. 4, 2008

LOS ANGELES - David Hernandez won’t be stripped of his chance to compete on “American Idol.”

The 24-year-old from Glendale, Ariz., once worked as an adult entertainer at Dick’s Cabaret in Phoenix, appearing fully nude and performing lap dances for the club’s “mostly male” clientele, strip club manager Gordy Bryan told the AP on Monday.

...Antonella Barba remained in the competition last year after racy photos of her surfaced on the Internet. The source who confirmed that Hernandez will remain said Davis’ situation was different because of the site’s age-themed content.

Fox and the producers declined to comment on Hernandez. All the singers, including Hernandez, have been unavailable for interviews.

On a video posted on AmericanIdol.com, Hernandez said he broke the lease on his apartment and lived out of his car before auditioning for “Idol.” And, when asked in a Q&A posted on the site which talent would he would most like to have if he couldn’t sing, Hernandez responded: “Dancing! I’m horrible at that.”

We all have things in our past...but are these "American Idols"? Should they even be in the Top 12?

After watching last night, they could take 8 of the women and 4 of the guys and that would be fine with me. the two women going home are those who do not have callers (I KNOW that is what it takes!)...what we mean is they ALL deserved to go to the next step tonight...much more so than the guys last night

This is in direct contradiction to quiet a few people we know....but we call 'em as we see 'em...

We do think that they were out of time and that is why the judges used one word comments for the last girl (We do not even know their names - that is how uninterested we are, to be honest), and they should have made that clear as we think people would feel she was not worthy and she was very good.

How the he!! did we end up spending a post talking about this show? Is it the video traffic accident we can not look away from? Is it some sort of infectious disease that they spiked out water with?

Travis had a cool meme on Wednesday, think he cribbed it from Ian...and we are going to 'borrow' it tomorrow...

As it involves a shuffle of the iPod, we will just select one today. We are finding music we never really listened to often when they were CDs sitting on the shelf. Yes, it is silly - but it happened...

Some of the music we are hearing, some even for the first time is jazz we picked up the year we did some work for the JVC Jazz Festival (which includes the Newport Jazz Festival, the grand daddy of them all)...

This is the ELVIN JONES JAZZ MACHINE. The album is The Truth - Heard Live At The Blue Note.

Mr. Jones (September 9, 1927 – May, 18 2004) fell in love with the drums as he watched the circus bands march past his home in Pontiac, Michigan as a boy.

After he spent time in the army he was the drummer for the JOHN COLTRANE quartet from 1960 - 1966. His free-flowing style was a major influence on many leading rock drummers, including Mitch Mitchell (whom Jimi Hendrix called "my Elvin Jones") and Ginger Baker.

The album was recorded on his 72nd birthday in 1977...the song is "Three Card Molly", by Elvin Jones.

ENJOY!

Elvin Jones - Drums
Michael Brecker - Saxophone
Antoine ROney - Saxophone
Robin Eubanks - Trombone
Darren Barrett - Trumpet
Carlos McKinney - Piano
Gene Perla - Bass

Arg....H-Rod making her acceptance speech...not a big fan at all...

Watched American Idol tonight....just do not feel much from any of these guys - David Cook did a great job with "Hello"...

Quite a few of my female friends like the other David Archuleta kid...the vote is still out on him...

So, Hucklebee has decided to go back to looking for hitchhikers in bright orange jumpsuits....as he exited stage left last night from his run at the White House...

Is H-Rod serious...like she knows what it takes to get up at three in the morning because of a crisis...sheesh...

"Yes We Can" ... "Yes She Can"... - personally, we like the WE

Absolutely hated this kid Danny Noriega - he just is to over the top...

But honestly, they touted "The Best Group Of Singers Ever Selected" when they went to Hollywood...

If so...They left some great singers behind...

Now she is chanting "Yes We Will"...sheesh...very original...

And she is going to "heal and lead the world"? Does she know that this election is only for the U.S.A.???

Lot of light blue for Clinton in Texas, but the dark blue for Obama is in the heavily populated areas...unless they are trying to get the cattle to vote out there...

Had some snow here today in Memphis...very light, nothing stuck to the ground...there is not a gallon of milk or a loaf of white bread left on the shelves within the region...

Have you checked out the story Jeff is telling over at A Word In Edgewise, his wonderful blog home. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find Part 1 and then read through the six installments.

To me, it had a Jean Shepherd feel....

Ya KNOW..."A Christmas Story"....A old fashioned family story...

THANKS JEFF...for sharing that day.

Brett Favre has announced his retirement...First round Hall Of Famer....if the Packers could have enticed Randy Moss, Favre would have been back with bells on...though Favre is denying it...maybe he is tired...but that team looks so good right now it seems like one more year would have been a smart choice...

These three played in a row this evening...is it too much music? If you open a new window or tab to view another site, does the music still play for you? Just curious...

We like doing threesomes (HEY....Mom Joan reads this! ) - We mean taking a sample of three songs, as it really allows iTunes to reach out...

WAIT WAIT WAIT...OK, maybe we are behind the curve here, but "Hush" from DEEP PURPLE is the new song for Jaguar??????????
bwahahahahahahahahahahhahaaa - Kiddies...THAT right there is the word IRONY at work!

Where were we? OH yeah...three songs...here is how iTunes spit them out....

WHEN EXACTLY DO YOU THINK THEY WILL GET SICK AND TIRED OF YOUR 'NEW COMPUTER' TALK?
OH, LET HIM GLOAT...IT REALLY IS A BIG DEAL YOU KNOW!
CLOSE YOUR TRAP YOU SILLY DWEEB OR I WILL POUND YOU INTO THE GROUND...

OK you two...now get silent will ya both? We were just giving a report here...the old iMac is giving up its secrets to the new one...Then we will have to organize it all and then delete it from the old one, freeing up power for it's next chapter...as a transition for the digitization of the vinyl and magnetic tape...

As a matter of fact, that is what we did most of the evening...up to 2,100 entries and about 18gb of music! AND, we are only up to Lynard Skynard in the files we transferred over. Also ordered the stylus and the ION "U Record", so will have the chance to start doing the vinyl and cassettes...

OK...sorry....it has been a crazy day after not being in the office for the last two days.

Terminator - The Sarah Conner Chronicles ended this evening. Too short an arc in our opinion (and we know Travis feels the same), but they filled in some items and also left a few sitting out there which has our interest peaked...

If you are a terminator fan and you have not checked this out - go over to fox.com and watch it streaming on your computer...
WHAT THE HELL...WAS THAT A COMMERCIAL FOR THE FREAKIN SHOW??? HE LIKES THE SHOW, WHY CAN'T HE TALK ABOUT IT? C'MERE YOU..I AM SO SICK AND TIRED OF YOUR GOODY-GOODY TWO-SHOES ACT...WE BOTH KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT.... NOW NOW...MAYBE HE DID GO OVERBOARD...

Are you two done now? Sheesh...and what they hell is he talking about...'that night'

OH NEVERMIND...GO BACK TO WHAT YOU WERE SAYING... YEAH I THOUGHT YOU WOULD FEEL THAT WAY...BWAAHAHAHAHAHHAAHA

Crap - it is late...Can we make it up to you in some way...

How about a three song shuffle?

Huh? How about a promise that we are going to be able to put the finishing touches on the next addition of TUNEAGE TUTELAGE - Delta Blues Series...???

Huh? Will that let me off the hook and make this a short one...?

Huh?

So....we have had...ummmm...how many days off???...Wednesday...Thursday...Friday...ummm that would be three days off...what the hell did we do with that time?

Well, we spent Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday NOT feeling well at all... We left work early on Thursday and took Friday off and spent most of Saturday in bed...Bad cold, sore throat, body cramps...ugh - at least it was not the flu...as we are feeling a tad better...We had darlin' Nancy come over and play nurse on Friday and that was nice...

It did cramp our plans for Saturday evening. We had tickets to a Memphis Grizzlies game and reservations at a local restaurant - all set up by her boss who gave us his seats for the game.

As we have mentioned, we got the iMac last weekend and we did spend some off our time, moving all of our CDs into iTunes, giving us a nice start on reviving our music collection on-line.

OH...AND....WE GOT A CALL ON FRIDAY from Computer Labs - the folks who have our old iMac. They have it up and running!

At that point they thought they had recovered everything, but were doing a few more diagnostics to it to and would be calling back today. We have a decision to make...whether to drop in a new larger hard drive or leave the 60gb drive and just buy an external 500gb hard drive for backing everything up.

So, we have all of our music and photos and documents back. It also means we have our Photoshop and Illustrator back. Granted, they will need to stay on the old machine (they are not compatible with Leopard, the new Mac operating system).

But after pulling everything else onto the new Mac, the old one will have plenty of space...

We also tracked down the USB turntable we want ... BUT - another device by the same company came into the picture...ION makes it and it is a converter called u record that takes the outputs from either a turntable or a cassette deck and converts it to go into the computer and comes with all the same software for removing clicks and snaps when using vinyl.

Our turntables are just fine, both work great, though the one we would use for transferring - A Pioneer Direct Drive we used when we DJ'ed, needs a new stylus.

We also have two cassette decks in great shape, In the end it is about 3/4 the cost of the turntable alone, and then we would need to buy the USB Cassette. Not sure we will ever use cassettes again after we digitize them, so why spend the money.

OK, let us say one thing here....WAKE UP FOLKS....that was in case anyone had nodded off...

The iMac has given us one problem. Last week, we used SKYPE to 'call' into the Radio Happy Hour and using the same headphone/mic set we have used on the work laptop, the sound quality was unacceptable.

Not sure why it is giving us an echo - or making us sound "as though we are sitting in a bathroom" - as Doc put it...or did he say the phone WAS a bathroom???

We have checked all the settings - so we will need the laptop when doing the show...

What else....oh what else did we want to talk about? OH yeah... we have to change the title of "The Quest", the short story (found HERE) we are working into a novel...Seems there is a movie called "The Quest" already...we happened to notice it on the STARZ in-Demand selections this weekend.

It is a 1996 Jean-Claude Van Damme you to all hell you hack... OH, sorry...got carried away there. As the storyline follows what my lead character calls THE QUEST, we will just need to change the title when we are ready to submit to a publisher.

OH, yeah, so we have a century or two before we need THAT problem solved! No, really, we have been jotting some notes and want to get back into that.

OH...and that wild, fun, talented guy Roger, bestowed upon us this cool badge...THANKS ROGER!!

My Blog Rocks!

Well, think we have rambled on long enough...

There is all sorts of new music sitting on the computer...so we will just shuffle it all up and let you hear the first two...just because we can!
