STICKY POST - A Little Prayer Please

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, October 05, 2007 32 Of Your Sparks

DAILY POST BELOW
THIS ONE

We did not post this earlier, as we wanted to wait to see what the results were, but yesterday Mom Joan and Dad Vince flew to NY and today dad was operated on for heart blockages. He is out of surgery already and had to have another stent put in....

This all happened in two days...he got a message from his doctor and then spoke with a friend in NY who had the chief cardiologist at St. Francis call dad and they scheduled him for today.

What you have to know is dad never flies....unless it is necessary..

We just ask all y'all to say a tiny prayer for him....

We think maybe he watched the Bruce videos too often and got too excited!

LOVE YOU DAD!

UPDATE: Dad is out of the hopsital, at sister Lynn and BIL Kevin's home for a week to recover and then will be heading home. Feels great...and loved the doctor who did the surgery!

Doc said heart is strong like BULL....

thanks all

We can tell you right now....THE DOORS will be postponed until next week.

The last few days have been difficult with dad and it seems we hurt a good friend and it is making us sad...

They sometimes come here to sit on The Couch and if they do so today, we hope they know how very sorry we are and hope they will forgive us in time...go with your gut Bond...go with your gut...

Hopefully, we will be able to craft a post for tomorrow and over the weekend put the finishing touches on the Monday Matinee for Monday and Tuneage Tutelage for Tuesday...

SO...we will just leave you with a little music for today

Enjoy

"I FALL TO PIECES"
Patsy Cline
Hank Cochran and Harlan Howard
1961
Decca Records

Originally, Cline hated the song, but when she heard her version of the song she realized she liked it. While "I Fall to Pieces" was climbing the charts, Cline was involved in a major head-on car collision that June. She nearly died in the accident.

While Cline was in the hospital, "I Fall to Pieces" climbed to:
#1 on the Country charts (becoming her first number-one hit)
#12 on the Pop charts
#6 on the Adult Contemporary charts.

Truth springs from argument amongst friends.

The Great Mofo Delurk 2007

Interesting...seems a bunch of people in the bloggosphere had been noticing that the amount of comments on blogs were decreasing...

NOW, weren't we just talking about this yesterday????

Well this group decided to call today THE GREAT MOFO DELURK, where bloggers asked their lurkers to come out of hiding...

As we asked that same question yesterday, we thought we would share the thought with you today...click the button to see how it all began...

YES, we know we promised THE DOORS today, but the week has been kind of hectic at work with a few major occurrences and our nights have been nuts. We barely made it home last night to get onto THE RADIO HAPPY HOUR...and then we were ready to crash, so we whipped this post up.

We are putting TUNEAGE TUTELAGE off until Friday....

From the 1971 Album, "Harmony"...this song was written by Hoyt Axton....performed by Three Dog Night...it reached #5 on the Billboard Charts..."NEVER BEEN TO SPAIN"...

and as a double pleasure...

From their 1973 debut album "The Marshall Tucker Band"...always loved this song by Toy Caldwell..."TAKE THE HIGHWAY"...

ALMOST FORGOT....well we did but...

While loving someone deeply gives you courage.

OK my dear guests, you are slacking....we are getting our usual 50-70 visits every day, but the comments have slowed down to a dribble....yes, we have our regular commenter, but if you are sitting on The Couch, you need to speak up! Contribute! The Couch is NOT a one-way street...it is a place to hang and chat....

So, if you are reading this, then leave a comment...even if it is just, 'oh be quiet'!

On that note, did you watch the BRUCE videos? Did you notice that even Dad Vince commented on it yesterday?? He was glad we tracked them down and watched them all again... and he LOVES BRUCE...funny, as we get older, we seem to enjoy more of the same things....

Interesting? Scary? hummmm ....bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Matt update: Well he tried numerous times to contact the baseball coach and even put in the papers required only to finally be told this past week 'it is too late'....guy could have been honest..but oh well..he is playing for the club team and has joined the Psychology Club and is doing well with classes and making friends...making plans to go up and visit in a few weeks...

OK, this was a part of a bootleg sent to us years ago.

We are almost positive it is from
A SUMMER JAM
Watkins Glen, NY
July 28, 1973
The Allman Brothers
The Grateful Dead
The Band

This is the t-shirt we got that weekend...it was held at the Grand Prix Racetrack there...

The Dead and the Brothers did play together that weekend...they also played together many other times also, so we can not guarantee it was then.

This concert was larger than Woodstock...600,000 strong that day... yes it was one day of f'ing incredible music!

The Grateful Dead performed for five hours, the Allman Brothers for four, and the Band for three, including a thirty-minute break due to a thunderstorm. Well, any good concert has a thunderstorm!!!! HA

There was never a record of the concert though the crews did record the shows. It is said The Dead would not release their tapes. We do have 4 CDs of their show culled from sound board and self-recorded tapes.

Hope you enjoy....

BLOGTALK RADIO UPDATE

Coming up this week on DR. BLOGSTEIN'S RADIO HAPPY HOUR: (Live on Tuesday October 1st at 9PM ET and forever archived at BlogTalkRadio.)

Comedian and radio personality J. Anthony Brown headlines the Radio Happy Hour.

Brown, who’s best known for his role on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show, will not only leave you in stitches but can create a suit for you with those stitches. The funny man and creator of The J. Anthony Brown Suit Collection will bring a sense of style and some off key singing to this week’s program. He’ll also explain what his catch phrase “watchoutdehnow” means.

Also, we have several guests who may or may not call in. Two rappers and an NFL player are scheduled but not yet 100% confirmed at the time of this posting. We’ll have to wait and see—suspenseful!

All that plus, Dangerous Lee co hosts, Vinny Bond drags his Big Leather Couch into the Radio Happy Hour lounge and chats with the listeners as he act as the SUPREME COMMANDER OF THE CYBERWAVES in the chat lounge and on the air, Justin the Weatherman with his forecast and your calls at 646-652-4804.

Join us live every Tuesday night at 9PM ET. The Radio Happy Hour Lounge--a live chat room during show time--is a whole new reason to make sure you listen live! It’s the show within the show! But if you can't and miss us then, we're ALWAYS ON on our left sidebar!

Well voting is done and it looks like....by a small margin....THE DOORS will be our next Tuneage Tutelage...Was actually surprised by the voting and the tight race...
The Doors 31.3%
The Cars 25%
Yes 25%
Rascals 18.8%
Grateful Dead 12.8%
Deep Purple 12.8%
Mott The Hoople 12.8%

Will be working it up (yes, we have started...) and should have it by Wednesday ready for your reading pleasure.

Notice the banner for the next BLOGBLAST FOR PEACE at the top of The Couch daily posts...grab your banner and let's make this one the best yet...

This is the brainchild of our dear friend Mimi over at Mimi Writes. If you have never gone over to Bloggingham Palace and read the Queen of Meme's, then you are missing out on one the the best reads in the bloggosphere!

Well, we finally did Graceland this weekend. Our partner J.P. ended up staying in town instead of heading back to NJ and his family and we had a real nice dinner on Friday, just the two of use and two bottles of delicious wine...

Saturday we were up early...though moving a bit slow, and off to Graceland. Enjoyed the tour. It really is interesting to be in the rooms that Elvis hung out in and entertained in. The amount of gold records and awards on display is just mind-boggling.

Didn't have our camera with us as we were not sure it was going to happen. Sort of spur of the moment. We are sure with visitors to Memphis, we will end up going back again and will make sure we document it this time.

We did have our picture taken before the tour began (actually everyone gets their picture taken, then you can purchase it when you finish the tour - you know how that goes) and we decided to get them...So, J.P. and yours truly...next time we hope we have a beautiful woman next to me...no offense dude!

Next week is the Memphis Zoo. Meeting a new friend there and going to go dance for the monkeys. Just hope they like my dancing and don't fling stuff at me...because if they do, we will fling it back and that could get messy!!!!

Will ensure the camera is with us and will have pictures to share.

We are also feeling some stories building in us again. We have been struggling with "The Quest" for about 6 weeks, but this week actually got 5 pages written that we are very happy with. The story is developing and we are seeing now, how Frank Stevens became the man you all read about in our short story of the same title.

That said, we are itching to get back to Monday Matinee's and can almost guarantee the Drive-In will be open again next Monday. It might not be every week, but it will be creeping back into our time here on The Couch.

New to The Couch? Confused by what we just talked about? Scroll down on the right sidebar and find the Drive-in Marquee. Under that are the works of fiction we have published here on The Couch. Some are multi-part, some are one post. Some we think are pretty darn good...some...well, not so good, but we have them all there.

Also want to point out that we have updated the BlogTalk Radio area on the left sidebar. Each of the pictures will take you right to our friends home pages over there and there is also a player which will let you hear the most recent show.

We talked recently about redoing The Couch but real life has interfered with that and we are moving slower than we had hoped.

Watching that show Extreme Home Makeover show and man...we want to go to Hawaii soon and see the lava fields...so very cool...nature is incredible. We love Niagara Falls and have been there many times, but to go see an active lava flow....that woulod be SWEEEEEEEEET.

Our friend Starrlight went AGAIN this past year and had promised to put me in her luggage, but she forgot.....pout....

We selected the correct team in the Survivor Pool again this week, had Dallas...so we are moving on....45 teams were eliminated this week already...many in the pool picked San Diego. Only 62 teams left from a total of 156 original teams...

Mom Joan and Dad Vince clued me into this...
Bruce & The E-Street Band were on the Today Show this week.

Bruce's rap before "Living In The Future" is RIGHT ON!

Video for all songs is available HERE
look for "Promised Land" down on the right...

THEY SOUND HOT HOT HOT
and the sound on here is pretty damn good...
We still get chills watching these guys play...seen them 3 times live.

(you have to watch a commercial between each song, but well worth it!)

This one is going out to our man Matt-Man

"Hang on Sloopy" is a hit song by the pop group The McCoys which was #1 in America in October 1965 and is the official rock song of the U.S. state of Ohio.

It was written by Wes Farrell and Bert Russell and is named for Dorothy Sloop, a singer born in Steubenville, Ohio on September 26, 1913 who used the name "Sloopy" on stage.

She died July 1998 in Pass Christian, Mississippi.
