Gay Marriage and a Rebuttal

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, June 06, 2006 0 Of Your Sparks

No post from Monday. Was off interviewing...met with three people from this firm and spent over 4 hours describing myself and how I can help their organization...was exhausted when I left... won't know anything until next week...

And yesterday, when I had the chance I could not get onto blogspot. When I finally was able to, I was too busy to get the post done...so here we are...WEDNESDAY and first post of the week....sheesh!

I deleted the video that was posted here, because I did not like the "sales content" that appeared with it. It was the first time i used that site to find a video and did not realize it would have banner ads and that they would be for pornographic sites. I apologize to anyone who saw it and was offended.

This morning, the US Senate is voting on a Constitutional Amendment to ban same-sex marriages here in the USA. All indications is that it will be defeated, but our President is pushing this one hard.

The wording of the amendment is as follows:
"Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman."

Seems to me...and others...that this big push by "W" and his backers is more of a smokescreen then anything else. Let's see...the lowest approval rating of a President since Jimmy Carter (End of Term Approval 34%)...A war that is not going well and a country that wishes we were no longer sending out troops to fight it...

But President Bush will have to work a bit harder, as the Senate defeated the vote just 10 minutes ago:

The 49-48 vote fell 11 short of the 60 required to send the matter for an up-or-down tally by the full Senate. The amendment's failure was no surprise, but supporters said the vote reflected growing support among senators and Americans.
"We're building votes," said Sen. David Vitter, R-La., who is among supporters of the ban who were not in the Senate when the amendment was last voted on in 2004. "That's often what's required over several years to get there, particularly to a two-thirds vote."

Now, I am a strong believer that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry and enjoy all of the benefits hetero-couples are allowed. IF, however, that will not be acceptable by the majority, then allowing civil unions is a must. In this way, those couple will be afforded the same rights as hetero-couples. Those include health benefits, the right to own property and inherit property, the right to make medical decisions if one of the partners is ill.
I know couple that have been together 10-15 years (longer then some hetero-couples I know), and if one of them passes away, the other is not entitled to any of the rights or benefits they deserve.

Last Wednesday I wrote about some amazing kids. One of them, Maximiliano Arellano, is a 6-year old, whose mother wanted him to be enrolled in University in Mexico. That struck a chord with one of my readers. She is a teacher in New Brunswick, Canada and she wrote me this email. Her name is Corinna and with her permission, I share it her reply with you all...
I've been an educator in the public school system for 15 years, and I'm
a firm believer in the concept that "if a school has caring, competent
professionals teaching there, little miracles can occur". Why do I
believe so firmly in it? Because for the past 8 years, I have been a
staff member at just such a school and I've seen those little miracles
occur, a few times in my own classroom.

Take a "special needs" student who can neither read nor write and teach
him, not only to play a musical instrument, but to read music. Take
that same student five years down the road who, because he found out he
COULD, is enrolled in first year university in ENGLISH LIT with dreams
of becoming a university professor. He is one of my treasured memories.

Another story is a grade 7 class that I have worked with for 2 years.
There are only 12 in the class because the behavior and learning
problems attached to these children are legion. They are, without exception,
low-level learners and from poverty-ridden homes. Enter a team of 5
teachers who were destined to work with this group. A scant year later,
they are the pride of the school. These children single-handedly
organized a turkey-drive at Christmas, earning enough money to purchase 342
birds for the local foodbank. Last week, they performed three
selections on musical instruments at our year-end variety show. These kids,
once the scourge of their elementary school, have acted as ambassadors in
the community for our school; they take unprecedented pride in their
appearance and their comportment; they act as guides for visitors to our
school; they glow with the pride their accomplishments have afforded
them. These kids are going somewhere. They have been enabled.

These are what I call success stories. I have many more if you're
interested. Now, back to that 6-year old. Think of the basic social
development that occurs in each age group. Skipping grades has been a
trend educators have been trying to discourage for years (teachers, not
admin - you have to be on the front lines to see the results of it) What
kind of person develops under those circumstances? Statistics show that
70% of children who miss out on the peer-social interaction that school
affords suffer from it in a lasting way. 40% show evidence of
anti-social behavior. Another 22% have attachment issues (cannot relate to
other people in a healthy, nurturing way. 8% are deemed socio- or
psychopathic. The remaining 30% are more or less "normal". What does that
mean? The experience of growing and learning with similarly-aged
children is crucial to one's healthy mental development. Notice I didn't say
"school". Personally, I believe that school affords the greatest
opportunity for children to develop in a safe and healthy environment.
However, I realize that depends on the school in question. I understand
that the little boy in the article is gifted, but that doesn't mean he
is not normal in every other way. In my school, we have a young man in
grade 10 whose future is very bright indeed. He attends classes with
his peers, participates in sports, music and student government. There
is one big difference. Since grade 2, he has been benefiting from an
accelerated program. He "graduated" in grade 6, began his studies in
university-level science in grade 7, and is currently taking pre-med
studies. In every other way, the kid is normal, and one of the most
well-adjusted kids I have ever had the privilege to know. Fortunately for
him (this is unmitigatedly biased, btw) he is enrolled in a
forward-thinking, supportive institution.
Excellent points Corinna...Of course, as you state, it appears you do work in a "forward-thinking, supportive institute," and should be proud to do so.

I grew up with a boy who was far and away the most intelligent person I have ever met (when he was 8!), and he skipped and moved on to college early. I can not tell you what has happened to Eugene since we lost touch at 13-14 years old, but I can tell you, with all of his intelligence, he had very little common sense. He was always uncomfortable around kids his own age and he had few friends. Now this was a person who needed to be with a group of older people, as he could not talk to people his own age...it was just not possible.

Thank you to Corinna for actually reading this blog and then sending this response. I have a small group who read each day and a few who post often. It makes me feel like I am not out here alone on a desert island...

So, like Corinna, if you read something you do not agree with (or if you do agree with something), I hope you take the time to write a comment here.

Funds & Family Tales

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, June 02, 2006 2 Of Your Sparks

Sits back and wonders if yesterday's topic was too serious for my legions of readers ... (legions of readers...LOL..that cracks me up!!! )

OK..let's look at these numbers and you can guess what they are for:

From 2005 to 2006 percentage changes-
Jersey City/Newark, NJ +79%
Louisville, KY +70%
Charlotte, NC +64%
Omaha, NE +62%
Milwaukee, WI +36%
Los Angeles/Long Beach, CA +16%

New Orleans, LA -50%
Washington, DC -40%

New York City, NY -40%

Wonder what that is? That is the change in percentage of the amount these cities will get from Homeland Security for anti-terror funds.

Yup... our geniuses at HSD believe that Louisville and Omaha and Milwaukee are in need of more money per capita then New York City and Washington, DC...
Someone want to tell me where the terrorists struck 5 years ago??? Anyone...Bueller??? It appears these numbskulls have forgotten.

One of the factors they use, it appears , is the number of "assets" a city has. In this case, NYC came out well...I guess they have 6,964 "assets". They include 4,048 "commercial assets" and 1,614 "transportation assets".

Here is the kicker folks... on the evaluation NYC is listed as having no "National Monuments & Icons." Yup, you heard me...ZERO..NADA...NONE...

Hummm.. Empire State Building, Statue Of Liberty, U.N. Building, Brooklyn Bridge...anyone see any "National Monuments or Icons" there???? Anyone... Bueller???

OK, not to insinuate anything, but the head of the HSD, Michael Chertoff, (left) well he is from New Jersey (Newark/Jersey City +79%). The chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations subcommittee, Rep. Hal Rogers (R-KY)...yup he lives in Louisville (+70%). Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist (R- TN)... his home ...Memphis got $4 million.

Omaha's "National Monuments & Icons"...? Florence Mill Historical Center, birthplaces of Gerald Ford and Malcolm X.
"Hey Mustafa..we must hit Omaha and cripple the USA."
Cows outnumber humans 4 to 1 in this area where the funds were allocated.

"We have to look at the risk of NYC in relation to the rest of the country as well," said Tracey Henke, a DHS assistant secretary. "You're only as strong as your weakest link."
Ummm Tracey, sure you do not want to retract that ASININE STATEMENT????

While NYC got more then any other city - $124-million - it has twice been hit by alQaeda attacks and major plots to attack the Brooklyn Bridge, (right) the tunnels that service NYC, wall street and various other targets have been uncovered.

Of the 46 cities that got special grants, NYC ranks 23rd per capita, getting $16 per person.
Meanwhile, residents of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, a hot target for terrorism, got $67/person and Atlanta, GA got $45/person.

Look, this is not to say that the people of these other cities are any less important, but you need to know that, if a terrorists wants to make an impact, it will NOT be in Omaha or Milwaukee.

And Washington, DC getting cut also...sorry folks...these idiots at HSD have not impressed me since the agency was formed...but then again, NYC was promised billions by our President right after 9/11 occurred and then 9 months later when everyone was not looking they changed their mind. Was good politics to stand at ground zero and make promises...and that is all it was..politics...rubbish...broken promises...

ALL IN THE FAMILY...Part 1
OK, you have a 17 year old son and one day he pulls into the driveway in a 2002 Mercedes Benz S430 ($35,000.00)...of course you need to ask..
"Hey son, whose car is that?"
"Ah, mom, it is mine, it was a gift."
As any parent would, you ask again..."A gift? From whom?"
"Well mom our next door neighbor hired me for the summer to work at her import-export business for the summer"
As any good parent would do, you question some more and then, hoping this is not the case, you call the police to make sure the car is not stolen. But of course it is not stolen, and is registered to your next door neighbor.
This neighbor with the import-export business? Been unemployed since you can remember.

So, what to do now?
"Son, are you...ummm...well...are you sleeping with this woman?"
"Oh geeze mom, yes...we have been together a few times in motels, in her house and in her car."
HELLLLLLO POLICE!
Happened again folks... 39-year old Lisa Frodella of Carle Place, NY was arraigned this week. Seems this began in January, when the boy was 16. She would call school and pretend to be the boy's mom to get him out of school. Ah, and she has two daughters, 14 & 15, who go to school with the boy.
She has been charged with two counts each third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sexual act. She faces up to 4 years on each count.
Of course her lawyer say the boy is lying through his teeth and that Lisa is so happily married and her husband who fully supports her, since they have "a strong marriage."
Not sure the husband knew all this, since he skipped her arraignment.

ALL IN THE FAMILY Part 2
Robert Jackson,60, and his wife Vessie, 59, were arrested in Lake County, Florida this week.
Their son is in prison right now awaiting trial in a sexual assault case. So, why were mom and dad arrested???
Well it seems mom dad and son concocted a plan...he was nervous that his wife and three children were going to testify against him. So, as all good mom's and dad's would do, Robert and Vessie went to a motel assuming they were meeting a hitman and offered him$100 to kill the wife, 3 kids and family dog!
Of course the hitman..well he was an undercover cop...BUSTED!
The family dog????
Maybe he was a pointer and they thought he could identify dad from the witness chair...

Have a great weekend all....be safe and enjoy...

Terrorism or Not?

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, June 01, 2006 3 Of Your Sparks

Not sure why this is today's subject, but something needs to be done about eco-terrorism and it must be done soon...

Do people have the right to commit crimes in the name of the environment or animals? Do the ends justify the means?

After losing their court case to block the expansion at the Vail Colorado Ski Resort, members of the ELF (an offshoot of Earth First!), decided that the legal system was not for them...the result - $12 million of damage due to an "environmentalist" perpetrated act of Arson & Terrorism. 5 buildings and 4 chair lifts were destroyed.

At dispute was the Lynx, and it's supposed habitat. These terrorists decided that they were the "protectors" and destroyed $12-million worth of property. Who will be impacted by this? Well all of us! How? Insurance premiums for resorts will go up. If this can happen at Vail, where can it happen next. The owners of the resort, Vail Associates, now have to spend all this money again to reconstruct the resort, which means increased costs at the resort (lift tickets, food, drinks and other items). As attendance drops, people in the service and support industries will loose their jobs, as the demand for their very existence continues to steadily drop. Unemployment and welfare rolls then increase, costing the taxpayer millions of additional dollars.

This from the E.L.F. :
"On behalf of the lynx, five buildings and four ski lifts at Vail were reduced to ashes on the night of Sunday, October 18th. Vail, Inc. is already the largest ski operation in North America and now wants to expand even further. The 12 miles of roads and 885 acres of clearcuts will ruin the last, best lynx habitat in the state. Putting profits ahead of Colorado's wildlife will not be tolerated. This action is just a warning. We will be back if this greedy corporation continues to trespass into wild and unroaded areas. For your safety and convenience, we strongly advise skiers to choose other destinations until Vail cancels its inexcusable plans for expansion."
— Earth Liberation Front (E.L.F.)

Gosh and golly gee...thanks so much for protecting the Lynx while forgetting about your fellow MAN!

Want more? Ya'll gonna get it anyway...
On Nov 30th 1997, the barns of the Bureau Of Land Management - Burns Adoption Center were burned to the ground, in an act of "environmentalism" that left 500 horses, and 40 burros without shelter. Also lost in the act of arson were the BLM's tack & gear - all at taxpayer expense.
This facility puts up for adoption wild horses and burros which they capture from the wild. Their web page states the following:
Federal protection and few natural predators have resulted in thriving wild horse and burro populations that increase each year. The BLM monitors rangelands and wild horse and burro herds to determine the number of animals, including licensed livestock and wildlife, the land can support. Each year, the BLM gathers the excess wild horses and burros from areas where vegetation and water become scarce if too many animals used the area. These excess animals are offered for adoption to qualified people through the BLM’s Adopt-a Horse or Burro Program. The BLM holds adoptions at temporary locations throughout the United States year round. In addition, the BLM offers the public several permanent adoption centers to visit and adopt a wild horse or burro.

Earlier in the year, the Cavel West horse-rendering plant, a popular target of animal rights activists, sustained a $1,000,000 fire. This information is from the Center For The Defense Of Free Enterprise web site:

According to the indictment, Joseph Dibee, Chelsea Dawn Gerlach, Sarah Kendall Harvey, Daniel Gerard McGowan, Stanislas Gregory Meyerhoff, Josephine Sunshine Overaker, Jonathan Mark Christopher Paul, Rebecca Rubin, Suzanne Savoie, Darren Todd Thurston, and Kevin M. Tubbs conspired to commit numerous acts of domestic terrorism as part of a group they called “the Family,” an alleged group of the extremist movements ALF and ELF. The indictment follows a series of arrests on Dec. 7, 2005, in Oregon, Arizona, New York, and Virginia. Gerlach, Harvey, Meyerhoff, McGowan, Thurston, and Tubbs were arrested at that time for various charges, including the destruction of an energy facility. Paul was arrested on Jan. 17, 2006, on a criminal complaint charging him with one of the arsons mentioned in the indictment. Savoie was arrested on Jan. 19, 2006, on a criminal complaint. Dibee, Overaker and Rubin are believed to be outside of the United States.

The indictment alleges that the group committed arsons with improvised incendiary devices made from milk jugs, petroleum products and homemade timers in a series of attacks in the five states. The targets of these attacks included U.S. Forest Service ranger stations, Bureau of Land Management wild horse facilities, meat processing companies, lumber companies, a high-tension power line, and a ski facility in Colorado. The indictment alleges that the group claimed to be acting on behalf of ALF and ELF.

I find it interesting that they belong to this group "The Family." In 2004, there was an arson in Maryland which consumed much of an under construction sub-division. All news articles I can find seem to say that the people under indictment may have belonged to this same group. Those indicted in the arson were Aaron L Speed, 21; Patrick Walsh, 20; Michale Everhart, 20; and Roy McCann, 22. Another man, Michael Gilbert told investigtors that several of the men belonged to an organization called "The Family" and that Mr. Walsh had approached him in December of 2004 with a plan to"make the Family bigger and more famous" by "setting something on fire," according to an affidavit. This sub-division was the object of a lawsuit brought against the EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers for allowing the homes to be built. Environmentalists assert that the houses will damage Araby Bog, a 6.5-acre wetlands area that is home to endangered insects and such rare plants as the halberd-leaved greenbrier and red milkweed. The bog filters rain and upwelling waters that feed into the nearby Mattawoman Creek and the Potomac.
Once again... go to court and lose? Start a fire...destroy property. THIS IS NOT THE AMERICAN WAY!

From the STOP ECO-VIOLENCE web page:
August 22, 2003
ECO-TERROR GROUP BLAMED FOR $2.5 MILLION ARSON, VANDALISM ATTACK ON CALIFORNIA CAR DEALERSHIPS The shadowy followers of the Earth Liberation Front are to blame for an arson and vandalism spree against car dealerships in southern California that caused approximately $2.5 million in damages. Hardest hit was the Clippinger Chevrolet that sells SUVs and Hummers in a suburb outside of Los Angeles. In the predawn hours of August 22, 2003, fire destroyed the dealership’s warehouse and about 20 vehicles stored inside. Another 20 vehicles outside were also badly damaged. The ominous initials “ELF” and slogans reading “I (heart) pollution” and “American Wastefulness” were found at the crime scene. Three other California SUV dealerships and four privately owned vehicles were also vandalized by the ELF that night.
Please tell me how this works...you burn SUV's and Hummer's and everyone stops buying them? No...but when you do this, you cost the dealership hundreds of thousands of dollars and forces them to lay off employees or even close up all together.

Another posting from the same site:
August 1, 2003
EARTH LIBERATION FRONT SUSPECTED IN $20 MILLION SAN DIEGO APARTMENT COMPLEX BLAZE
A massive three-alarm fire on August 1, 2003 that completely destroyed a five-story unfinished apartment complex in a densely-populated residential area just minutes away from downtown San Diego, California appears to be the malicious work of the Earth Liberation Front (ELF). Flames shot up 200-plus feet into the air as more than 100 firefighters fought the blaze. It was reported that “grapefruit- sized fireblls” shot out onto adjacent buildings. Local police evacuated about 500 residents from the Renaissance Villa Apartments located next door. A 100-foot construction crane valued at $7 million collapsed in the burning development site, but luckily fell away from the occupied apartments. A 500-gallon fuel tank also exploded. Initial damage estimates of the inferno that leveled the 400,000 square foot, 206 unit apartment complex total $20 million. An enormous 12-foot banner reading, “If you build it, we will burn it! The ELFs are mad” was found at the crime scene.
An e-mail sent to the San Diego Union Tribune by the ELF press office stated that, “This [the 12-foot banner] is a legitimate claim of responsibility by the Earth Liberation Front.
So, you can endanger humans as long as you save the trees or animals... I think I am getting it now...

Think I am making it up? This is from the ANIMAL LIBERATION FRONT web site::
Fire is a tool. Nothing does the amount of damage that fire can. Arson works. Make sure that all buildings or vehicles are free of creatures before lighting one single match. Arson should only be used when it can be guaranteed that the fire will not spread to the sheds the animals are in. -- (In the ALF publication "The Final Nail", under section entitled "Smashing the Furriers").
Go ahead, go back and read it one more time...I will wait...Did you see it? They instruct to make sure there are no "creatures" in the buildings or vehicles. And arson should not be used if you can not guarentee that it wil not spread to the sheds the animals are in. Did I miss the part where they speak of concern for human casualities? I DID NOT...NOWHERE DOES IT SHOW CONCERN FOR HUMANS!

This is all being done while our elected officials are tearing apart every environmental law written in the last 20 years...clearcutting, air quality...water quality...all being endangered by the current President and his croonies. How can I complain about the environment and then ridicule those who are "fighting for it"? Simple, they are nothing more then common thugs, going around and mugging the rest of us for their "purpose." Not caring about human life at all...in the Northwest where they are trying to stop forests from being cut down, they "spike" trees. What is that? The hammer iron spikes into trees so when the cutters come along and hit the spikes their saws are destroyed . Great, except people are also injured badly by this practice.

How do you stop this destruction of our national forests? Through the courts and also, more importantly, by voting for those who have swone to protect the environment. Say what you will, but President William Jefferson Clinton did more to protect the environment in his 8-years then had been done in the previous 20, and it is all being undo over the last 6 years..

There is so much more to this rant...so much more, but I will stop for today. We will continue on next week...

I hope I get comments on this rant...i would love to see the diversity out there and , if you would like to point me in a direction to back up your feelings on this issue, please do, and i will make sure the view is written about.
