Stella Awards Announced

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Friday, May 05, 2006 2 Of Your Sparks

(Note: If you do not like this blog..........well..........SUE ME!
Have you heard of the Stella Awards?
The Stella Awards is a project of a weekly news commentary column featuring bizarre-but-true stories from newspapers all over the world, all with snippy commentary by Colorado humorist (and Society of Professional Journalists professional member) Randy Cassingham.
The Stella Awards were inspired by Stella Liebeck. In 1992, Stella, then 79, spilled a cup of McDonald's coffee onto her lap, burning herself. A New Mexico jury awarded her $2.9 million in damages. There is so much to that story and you can read more about it here.

Now a friend of mine sent me what was supposed to be the 2005 winners of The Stella Awards and they were fantastic. Unfortunately, they were all fabricated. This page at The Stella Award site lets you see them, they are pretty good (hey, it got my attention and caused me to use this as the subject today!).

But we can review the REAL 2005 winners, announced on January 31, 2006, because folks, this stuff is just too good not to share:
#7: Bob Dougherty. A prankster smeared glue on the toilet seat at the Home Depot store in Louisville, CO, causing Dougherty to stick to it when he sat down. "This is not Home Depot's fault," he proclaimed, yet the store graciously offered him $2,000 anyway. Dougherty complained the offer is "insulting" and filed suit demanding $3 million. Ummm Bob, this sort of thing happens to you a lot I see...check out this story about this happening to Bob in 2004 also!

#6: Barbara Connors of Medfield, MA - Connors was riding in a car driven by her 70-year-old(!) son-in-law when they crashed into the Connecticut River, and Connors sank with the car. Rescue divers arrived within minutes and got her out alive, but Connors suffered brain damage from her near-drowning. Sue the driver? Sure, we guess that's reasonable. But she also sued the brave rescue workers who risked their lives to save hers. Now we need to worry about rescue workers being worried about doing what they do. There is more to that story here.

#5: Michelle Knepper of Vancouver, WA - Knepper picked a doctor out of the phone book to do her liposuction, and went ahead with the procedure even though the doctor was only a dermatologist, not a plastic surgeon. After having complications, she complained she never would have chosen that doctor had she known he wasn't Board Certified in the procedure. (She relied on the phonebook listing (which stated he was board certified) over asking the doctor, or looking for a certificate on his wall?!) So she sued ...the phone company! She won $1.2 million plus $375,000 for her husband for "loss of spousal services and companionship." The next week she visited a Veternarian for a mamogram...

#4: Rhonda Nichols. She says a wild bird "attacked" her outside a home improvement store in Fairview Heights, IL, causing head injuries. That's right: outside the store. Yet Nichols still held the Lowe's store responsible for "allowing" wild birds to fly around free in the air. She never reported the incident to the store, but still sued for "at least" $100,000 in damages. In January 2006, the case was thrown out of court. You see... sometimes the judicial system actually uses the intelligence it took to get their law degrees.

#3: Barnard Lorence of Stuart, FL - Lorence managed to overdraw his own bank account. When the bank charged him a service fee for the overdraft, he filed suit over his "stress and pain" and loss of sleep over the fee. A few hundred thousand bucks, he says, will only amount to a "slap on the wrist", whereas the $2 million he's suing for is more like being "paddled". Kinky! The only person needing paddling here is Mr. Lorence - right in the back of the head for his stupidity.

#2: Wanita "Renea" Young of Durango, CO - Two neighborhood teens baked cookies for their neighbors as an anonymous gesture of good will, but Young got scared when she heard them on her front porch. They apologized, in writing, but Young sued them anyway for causing her distress, demanding $3,000. When she won(!!) $900, she crowed about it in the newspaper and on national TV. Now, she's shocked (shocked!) that everyone in town hates her for her spite, and is afraid she may have to move. But hey: she won. You need to see the entire story, which is posted here. This woman needs serious help folks...

And the winner of the 2005 True Stella Award: Christopher Roller of Burnsville, MN - Roller is mystified by professional magicians, so he sued David Blaine and David Copperfield to demand they reveal their secrets to him -- or else pay him 10 percent of their lifelong earnings, which he figures amounts to $50 million for Copperfield and $2 million for Blaine. The basis for his suit: Roller claims that the magicians defy the laws of physics, and thus must be using "godly powers" -- and since Roller is god (according to him), they're "somehow" stealing that power from him. OK, this guy is a total wack-a-do...check it out here.

Yes kiddies...all real and all the result of runaway juries, overzealous lawyers and a court system that needs more balls to throw this crap out on it's ass...If only there was a away to fine the lawyers and complainants for approaching the judicial system with this bullshit, these cases would go away, the backlog of cases would diminish and the costs of goods and services would be reduced. These judgments are out of control. We need TORT REFORM, or we will fall further into this pile of bullshit.

Thursday Tidbits

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Thursday, May 04, 2006 1 Of Your Sparks

And a good day to one and all…

So sad to see Ms. Paris Bennett leave American Idol last evening. I guess the young boys who adored the pickle are now in the Mcfloorhump camp…
Last two weeks Katharine has sexed it up big time in hopes of gaining favor with the young AI male viewers…

This David Blaine dude sure knows how to promote himself…He is now in a giant 8-foot sphere filled with water at Lincoln Center in New York City. The plan is to stay submerged for a week and then try and hold his breath for more then 8 minutes, 58 seconds – longer than a dolphin…OH and he will do it while trying to escape from 150 pounds of chains…you can NOT make this stuff up!
He is taking air and will be fed through tubes. The water is being held at 98.6 degrees to keep his body as close to normal as possible. Blaine supposedly trained with the US Navy Seals and lost 50 pounds so his body would require less oxygen. Live or work in NYC...take a stroll up to Lincoln Center and say (actually wave) hi to Mr. Blaine. If you do not, you can tune in next Monday at 8pm EDT to ABC for a two –hour special David Blaine - Drowned Alive, which will culminate in the attempted escape.

From The Files – Quick hits:

From the “Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places” File: A 33-year old Malaysian man has wed a 104-year old woman. It is his first marriage and her 21st. I wonder if evryone thinks he is some kind of gold-digger...what do you say Anna Nicole?

From the “Does Anyone Really Care” File:
A Moroccan man who has been denied asylum in Belgium for the last 12 years has sewn his mouth shut in protest. Oh man, ya mean now i can't listen to him bitch and complain... oh darn.

From the “Always Read The Label” File: Dr. Inez Linke, a German marine biologist, is turning seaweed into red wine. She describes it a 16-proof vintage that she says tastes like fine sherry. So now, can I order this when having fish, or must I stick with white?

From the “Know When To Quit” File: A NJ couple welcomed a set of triplets into the world last Monday. A wonderful thing…except…they have another set of triplets waiting for them at home! The older set is 2-years old…can you say 24-hour diaper changing? Interesting fact is the couple says both sets were conceived without medical help. This story just makes me shiver so that i can't even come up with a funny comment.

Finally for today, condolences go out to Tiger Woods and his mom Kultida on their loss. We have witnessed many stage mom and dads in movies and sports over the years and there is no doubt that Earl Woods was also one, but he had learned to keep it in perspective better then all the rest. While Serena and Venus Williams’ dad is an overbearing clod, who seems to cry racism everytime something does not go perfectly for one of his daughters, Earl Woods seems to have been liked by many on the PGA tour. He had a dream for his son and he did what he felt necessary to help make it come through. As a dad of a son, I can understand that 1000 percent.

5 GIVE US 2

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Wednesday, May 03, 2006 0 Of Your Sparks

Last evening, the five remaining Idol hopefuls got to give us two songs each.

The evening began quickly. From the get-go, this show was about the contestants and not about the judges and Seacrest…that was a G-O-O-D thing.

The first song was from the year of their birth:

ELLIOTTGeorge Benson’s “On Broadway”Elliott finally moved around on the stage…loosened up and seemed comfortable and that is a great thing for his fans and not such a great thing for the other contestants. This guy is smooth as silk when he sings. A wonderful voice. His rendition of this classic was an excellent start to the night.

PARISPrince’s “Kiss” – She can work the stage, work the room and work the crowd while still belting it out. I enjoyed her take on this Prince song. Not being a huge Prince fan, I was not sure of her choice. I need to keep reminding myself that she is only 17 and has so much to grow.

CHRISStyx’s “Renegade” – Well the wallet-chain is back…He took this song and twisted it to suit his style of rage and hard rock. Not bad. I am still not totally impressed with his style and don’t think I will be running to buy his CDs or concert tickets...but that is me.

KATHARINEPhil Collins’ “Against All Odds” – Not my favorite Phil Collins song and Katharine did absolutely nothing to change that. She started off very rough and never left that zone. The first few stanzas were so breathy, I was concerned she was going to hyperventilate and hit the floor. I get this feeling she is reading (or McMommy or McDaddy are reading to her) all the hype from the last week and a half. Until last night I was not getting all the comments about the ego…but then last night she kept giving a look that said to me “You like me and you know what YOU SHOULD!” Katharine... I ‘took a look’ and on this song I did not like what I saw.

TAYLORWild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music” – Rumors were he was just going to give his fans a concert this week. Well he certainly started off that way with this little one-hit wonder ditty. Working the stage and the crowd…showing his hip-shaking dance move…belting out the song and having a good old time. OK, this is not the toughest song to sing…but as David Foster and Rod Stewart both said it is as much about the charisma and performing as it is about the singing. Unfortunately Simon does not seem to get that fact.

The second song was from the Billboard Charts of today:

ELLIOTT - Michael Buble’s “Home” – This song fell a bit flat for me. It was good, but not great and I guess I am expecting great from Elliott now…

PARISMary J. Blige’s “Be Without You” – I noticed something very interesting…when the camera was moving around and you got a shot of the audience…THEY WERE SITTING THERE ON THEIR HANDS…there was no one up and dancing to this sassy little number. I thought her ending was some of the roughest singing I have heard from her, but again, Paris proved she can sing any genre of music.

CHRISShinedown’s “I Dare You” – OK, here is what I heard: screech…screech…mumble…screech…screech...mumble...screech...screech
Sorry…I do not get it…everything comes from his throat, so of course his vocals are going to get scratchy and he is going to lose his voice. His comment that he had sung the song 5 times…ummm Chris? In concert you sing many more then 5 songs…and the judges all just blew by the fact that his voice seems shot…In the past they have taken contestants to task for this very fact…Oh wait, those were not chosen one’s…

KATHARINEK.T. Tunstall’s “Black Horse And The Cherry Tree” – I had never heard this song until last week and very much enjoy Tunstall’s sound on it. I was sure Katharine was going to fall flat on this one when I heard it was her song to sing. It really was not that bad. I thought it was a very self -indulgent though, but that be because I am now seeing that 'I am great' look in her eyes. What was bad was the whole choreography…her on her knees the entire song…she kept looking like she wanted to get up but couldn’t and at times she looked like she was humping the floor…and then she told Ryan how uncomfortable she was…

TAYLORBeatle’s “Something” – The best thing about this…Taylor used the rules to HIS advantage this week. In the last few weeks, the judges have used them to hurt him. As Simon mentioned, he was amazed Taylor got a 30 year old song into a current theme, but hey…them are the rules...the album appears on the Billboard Catalog chart. The song and Taylor’s performance…flawless…yes he can sing folks...the “whiskey tenor” Barry Manilow referred to was shining brightly last evening. This performance generated the best line of the night from Mr. Cowell…”We have to remember that even with all your balminess, you can sing.”
balm· Pronunciation Key (bäm)
adj. balm·i·er, balm·i·est
1. Having the quality or fragrance of balm; soothing.

2. Mild and pleasant: a balmy breeze.

3. Slang. Eccentric in behavior.

balmi·ly adv.
balmi·ness n.

Yes, SimonTaylor is mild and pleasant!

(edited) Pepperdog on the AI boards tells me the word Simon used was Barmy... not Balmy Simon did not say "balminess" (which of course makes no sense). He said "barminess". "Barmy" is a very common British slang word meaning "nutty", as in "You're barmy" -- i.e. "You're crazy".

Thanks Pepperdog..either way I think Simon meant the same thing!

Now, it appears that TPTB know what they are doing...If Taylor Hicks goes home it is because of one thing...THEY HAD THE CONTESTANT VOICES ANSWERING THEIR CALLS! Now we all know what happened...every female Taylor fan dialed the number the first time, heard his voice and either:
1: THUDDED and never recovered for two hors thus not getting a seconf vote in
2: Listened to the entire message each time they called, thus only getting in 10 calls during the entire two hours...

No more bottom three’s as I am not sure how they are going to set them up this evening, so we will just select the person going home this evening.

If you went on performances alone, I would be sending Katharine home. Since this is about fan base and the public voting on more then just singing ability, I would believe that Paris will be leaving us this evening. Paris dear, I will be purchasing your first CD immediately…you are a star.

On a housekeeping note, you may have noticed over the last few days, the inclusion of color and different sized type. Well, the I realized that I had been composing in the html mode and was having a hard time figuring out their codes for certain things. Lo and behold, I found the easier way to compose, that allows me to use a wysiwyg interface and allows me to add these features. As a wise man once said DOH!

Two For Tuesday

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Tuesday, May 02, 2006 0 Of Your Sparks

Well, it is Tuesday, which means American Idol and today the remaining 5 get to sing 2 songs each. One from Billboards Top 100 charts from last week. The other is from the year of their birth.
Hopefully, this week, the producers do not decide to sabotage any of the contestants, especially Mr. Hicks.

Have you heard of the fires buring in Florida? The authorities have concluded they were started by 3 kids, a 10-year old and a 12-year boys and a 14-year old girl. The police and fire have already said they will be charging the parents of all three with the costs associated with fighting the fires and my erespose is ABSOLUTELY GREAT! It is about time parents are held responsible for the actions of their minor children.

Well...in other Idol news Clyde Pickler was released from prison yesterday. So glad that AI is not going to show us that reunion...
Prison officials said once viewers eliminated Kellie from the show on Friday, they thought the the questions about her father would stop...evidently not:
"But we've gotten more phone calls asking about when Kellie's dad will be released than we got about the day when all those employees got fired,' said Department of Corrections spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger, referring to March 15 when nine high-ranking prison employees were simultaneously fired as part of a statewide management shake-up.
When the satellite trucks and reporters descended on Florida State Prison Monday morning, none of the questions were about prison management. Instead, the questions focused on Clyde Pickler."

It was also announced yesterday that Randy Jackson became the final judge to re-sign for another 3 year extension, so all three will be around for awhile.

Did you see that Universal Pictures release UNITED 93 was the second highest grossing film for last weekend? It pulled in $11.6 million. The film was made for $15 million, so obviously the people at Universal are celebrating. Not sure I am reeady to watch this movie...

OK Monopoly fans...now is your chance to help re-create this great game. Hasbro has announced they are updating the game and moving it out of Atlantic City. That classic game has morphed into 200 different editions and sold more than 250 million copies in 80 countries since Parker Brothers, now a division of Hasbro, produced it in 1935.
The new game will be called "Monopoly: here and Now." Fans can vote for which landmarks they want included on the board.
You can vote at www.monopoly.com for such landmarks from 22 cities including, NY Times Square, Chicago's Wrigley Field, Honolulu's Waikiki Beach, Beverly Hills' Rodeo Drive and San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.
Voting conludes on May 12th with winners to be announced in August and the game ready to ship to stores by the fall.
The city with the most votes gets the special high-rent Boardwalk/Park Place squares. Rent will also increase to keep up with the times and airports will replace the railroads.
ROLL THEM DICE...

So the Supreme Court has sided with Anna Nicole Smith and is allowing her to refile to get the inheritance she feel is hers....I just love this story...

Finally, today I answer my friend Angell's question regarding Barry Bonds... (see she is from Canada and well...she is from Canada!)

Barry Bonds was a great ballplayer...one of the best of his generation. A few years ago when Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were jacked up on steroids (my opinion), and were hitting home runs like crazy and exciting a nation (who had their heads in the sand regarding the steroids issue), Mr. Bonds got upset. You see, he is a egotistical little child and he was upset McGwire ( a white man) was getting all the publicity. So, Bonds began his own regiment of taking steroids and human growth hormones etc. etc. he then, at an advanced age, began hitting home runs at an incredible rate. He is now 3 away from tying Babe Ruth for second place all time and within a year of passing Hank Aaron for the most home runs hit in a career. I hate cheaters and wish he would just vanish and go away...
Now, do you feel my anger Angell?

Patriotism or Patriotism?

Sparks Of Insanity By Vinny "Bond" Marini Monday, May 01, 2006 2 Of Your Sparks

This weekend, I was reminded that last Tuesday was the 30th Anniversary of an event recently voted as one of the 100 Classic Moments In The History Of The Game by the National Baseball Hall Of Fame.
The moment? April 25, 1976 during the break between the top and bottom of the fourth inning at Dodger Stadium in LA. Rick Monday, the Chicago Cubs centerfielder was warming up when he noticed a change in the crowd. Monday looked over and saw two fans running onto the field between center and left.
Of course, today we are so bored with these infantile stunts. Back then, they happened far less frequently, but still did occur. Monday says he could tell something was different this time. “When these two guys ran onto the field, something wasn’t right. And it wasn’t right from the standpoint that one of them had something cradled under his arm. It turned out it was an American flag. They unfurled it like a picnic blanket. They then knelt beside it, not to pay homage, but to harm it as one of the guys was pulling out of his pocket a big can of lighter fluid. He began to douse it.”
"What they were doing was wrong then, in 1976. In my mind, it's wrong now, in 2006. It's the way I was raised. My thoughts were reinforced with my six years in the Marine Corp Reserves. It was also reinforced by a lot of friends who lost their lives protecting the rights and freedoms that flag represented." Monday continues...

"So I started to run after them. To this day, I couldn't tell you what was running through my mind except I was mad, I was angry and it was wrong for a lot of reasons.

"Then the wind blew the first match out. There was hardly ever any wind at Dodger Stadium. The second match was lit, just as I got there. I did think that if I could bowl them over, they can't do what they're trying to do.

"I saw them go and put the match down to the flag. It's soaked in lighter fluid at this time. Well, they can't light it if they don't have it. So I just scooped it up.

"My first thought was, 'Is this on fire?' Well, fortunately, it was not. I continue to run. One of the men threw the can of lighter fluid at me. We found out he was not a prospect. He did not have a good arm. Thank goodness.
"Tommy Lasor
da was in his last year as third-base coach before he took over for Hall of Fame manager Walter Alston. Tommy ran past me and called these guys every name in the longshoreman's encyclopedia."

The picture shown here was taken by James Roark and won him a Pulitzer Prize.
(AP Photo/Los Angeles Herald Examiner, James Roark) (James Roark - AP)

"A lot of people don't know this, but he beat me to the flag," recalls Lasorda. "I saw Rick start running over from center field to left. I didn't know what it was, but as soon as I saw him start, I took off and I ran out there, and of course, by that time, Rick had picked up the flag and continued running. When I got there, I see these two guys and I told them, 'Why don't one of you guys take a swing at me?' because there were 50-something thousand people in the ballpark and I only wanted them to swing at me, so I could defend myself and do a job on them."

Monday continued, "Doug Rau, a left-handed pitcher for the Dodgers at the time, came out of the dugout and I handed the flag to him. The two guys were led off the field through the Dodger bullpen.

"After the guys left, there was a buzz in the stands, people being aghast with what had taken place. Without being prompted, and I don't know where it started, but people began to sing 'God Bless America.' When I reflect back upon it now, I still get goose bumps."

Monday, to this day, still receives letters from people who were touched by that moment. Veterans, who fought to protect America, family members of those killed in action, even children who had not yet been born, but who had read of the incident.

The flag now hangs proudly in Monday’s home in Vero Beach. The final chapter of this saga is a book to be published soon. The book will contain the letters and thought of people. Anyone who would like to contribute to this book can send their thoughts -- in 500 words or less – or photos to mvpsportscorp@aol.com.

Now, today, illegal immigrants living in the US are staging protests across the country. They are not going to work, or buying goods or services or going to school today to show their value to the country. The day is being billed as “Un dia sin immafrante” – Spanish for “a day without an immigrant.”

The campaign is part of the growing desires to get legal status for the 11 million immigrants living and working in the USA.

My paternal grandfather and grandmother traveled from Italy to find residence in this country. They endured the hardships of a long journey on a crowded ship with nothing waiting for them but the promise of freedom and the opportunity to find a better life. How do I know this? Because I have been to Randall’s Island here in NYC and I have seen their names on the wall there which lists every immigrant that came to the US LEGALLY!

Now for years, these people have been earning money and not paying taxes, but taking advantage of the infrastructure and services the taxes we all pay support.

Clearly, immigration issues are testing the nation's consciousness. In an AP-Ipsospoll released in early April, 13 percent of respondents said immigration was the nation's top problem — four times the number who said that in January. Immigration ranked slightly below the economy and the war in Iraq in the survey of 500 adults, which had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.

Immigration has split Congress, the Republican Party and public opinion. Conservatives want the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants returned to Mexico and a fence built along the border.

Others, including President George W. Bush, want a guest-worker program and a path to citizenship. Most agree some reform is needed to stem the flow of poor to the world's biggest economy.

"We want full amnesty, full legalization for anybody who is here (illegally)," Jorge Rodriguez, a union official who has helped stage protests said. "That is the message that is going to be played out across the country on May 1."

So, riddle me this kiddies…these people began their history in this country by doing something illegal, and now they want us to say…”Oh, that’s all right…you just stay and enjoy.” ????

Want to live in the US and reap the rewards that you obviously feel you can’t get in your country? Then apply for citizenship and do it like my relatives and the millions of others who abided by the laws of the land.

Continuing with the theme, a new version of “The Star Spangled Banner” has been released. Recorded by Pitbull, Wyclef Jean, Puerto Rican singers Carlos Ponce and Olga Tanon it is a Spanish version of the anthem to our country. Well, that is what they say it is, but you tell me…here are the lyrics:
An English translation of "Nuestro Himno," a Spanish-language version of the national anthem:
Verse 1
The day is breaking, do you see it? In the light of the dawn?
What we so acclaimed at nightfall?
Its stars, its stripes,
flew yesterday
In the fierce battle
in a sign of victory,
The glow of battle, in step with liberty
At night they said: "It's being defended!"
Chorus:
Oh say!
The voice of your starry beauty
is still unfolding
Over the land of the free
The sacred flag?

Verse 2
Its stars, its stripes,
Freedom, we are equal
We are brothers, in our anthem.
In the fierce combat in a sign of victory
The glow of battle, in step with liberty
My people keep fighting
It's time to break the chains
At night they said: "It's being defended!"
Oh say! Your starry beauty is still unfolding.

Hummmmm… here are the lyrics to “The Star Spangled banner”:
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I even put the entire song there, including those verses we never sing and…Yup…I thought so… no mention of “breaking chains” like in the new version…So, I guess these people decided that we needed a new anthem and they were the one’s to write it…Sorry, nope don’t agree. Our Secretary Of State, Condoleezza Rice has no problems with this new version. “I’ve heard the national anthem done in rap versions, country versions and classical versions,” Rice said on the CBS program “Face The Nation.” “From my point of view, people expressing themselves as wanting to be Americans is a good thing.”

Hey Condi….I agree with your overall thought…BUT THEY CHANGED THE WORDS TO THE SONG!!!!!!!!

Rap version... yup…heard them and I can not remember the words being changed to “yo yo...the stripes and stars be hangin’ when the yellow ball came up.”

Even when Jimi Hendrix woke up the Woodstock nation that morning with his electrified version of the anthem…through the feedback and squeal, you still KNEW it was the “Star Spangled Banner.”

Why is it that people who want to come to live in the US because of all we have here, get here and then want to change it all so it feels more like their birth home??? This is what I do not get.

OK...I am on a search…yesterday, while driving back from LI, where Allyson and I helped celebrate our niece and nephews 16th Birthday; I heard a story on the radio. There is a list of the 1500 (?) most despised people and Barry Bonds is on the list. It seems he is above only 14 people and those include Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and 12 others in that vein. I want to find this list for you all and will continue trying to find it. I missed most of the details until the Syringe of Swat’s name was mentioned. I will find it kiddies…I promise.
